2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Jersey number is SRS BZNS ☠ (6 Viewers)

any shot we can lure eric bieniemy from UCLA?
I am sure we could if we wanted to but I don't want to. Has he ever done anything outside of KC in coaching?
Yes! He has been an objectively terrible OC in Washington. Like, as bad as Getsy territory.

So, yeah hiring Bieniemy tracks.
he was there one year and the new regime went another direction, seems to have ucla on the right track as well but what ever floats your boat with a new offensive coordinator

His offense was bad at Washington.

  • Total Yards: 24th
  • Scoring Offense: 25th
  • Passing Yards: 21st
  • Rushing Yards: 28th
  • Third Down Conversion Rate: 26th
  • Red Zone Efficiency: 27th
Plus the track record of other KC OC's to leave KC? No thanks, that offense is all Reid. The OC is really an assistant offensive coach.

"The Raiders fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and two other offensive assistant coaches after Sunday’s loss to the Bengals and they’re set to add one of their former head coaches to Antonio Pierce’s staff on Tuesday. NFL Media reports that the Raiders will hire Norv Turner as an assistant. Turner’s son Scott is the team’s pass game coordinator and could be calling offensive plays when the team returns to action after their bye week. Pierce said on Monday that the team would discuss who will call plays over the next 24-48 hours."

Yep. You can always tell in a Chiefs game when Reid is calling plays and when he lets his OC call plays.

Overtime last night? Reid

2nd and 3rd quarter? Definitely Nagy

Norv sucked as a HC but was a proven stud at OC... I guess he is filling the assistant role because it has been how long since he had coached?

Someone with experience and “success”. Sounds good enough to finish the year.

Last time he was a OC was Panthers 2019.

I am getting the vibe that Scott is the acting OC with Norv coming in to lend support/assistance but at this point, the offense should really be about seeing what we really got and do not got in talent and how much is/was scheme/gameplan issues.

I’m looking to pick up Z White in a couple of redraft leagues where he’s sitting in the wire and I need RB help.

Who knows if they go back to the well with him and run a scheme that makes him excel again.

Worth a chance if there are no better options imo.

After watching a lot of college football this year I just don't see a QB of the future, maybe Ward can be that guy but outside of that it's a bleak year to need a college QB

Yet 5 will go in the top 15.
Give it a few months. The Shedoer Sanders hype train will eventually ramp up to a fever pitch and the Raiders will do the most Raider thing and draft him top 5ish. It’s almost a guarantee.
Shaduer has trained with Tom Brady, you can book it.

I didn’t mean to sound negative. I’ve seen him play a few times, he does have a strong arm. And seems to be pretty accurate. I wouldn’t be mad if they drafted him.
All good, I didn't mean to sound combative with my response. Lots of people toss the circus/clown show theme around based on the guy's name, and his dad certainly doesn't dispel the narrative, but if you take the name off the back of the jersey and just watch football he's a 1st rounder all day.

OK, so as I said before, I'm coming out for the Broncos game on 11/24. Still scoping out tickets and I plan on waiting til 3-5 days out to get the best price.
I see tickets in the VVIP section in C134. They say unlimited food and drinks.

Has anyone ever gotten tickets in this section? Are they worth it?
I don't mind spending a few more bucks if they are worth it.

Thanks

But, you can't take the name off the back of the Jersey. And, Hasn't the clown show been verified?

Do we really want, after every single bad play, or loss his big mouth Dad, talking to anyone who will listen, and a lot of people will listen, about how it's not his precious son's fault and and if the receivers did something better, if the coaches did something better, if the organization did something better.... Ad nauseam?

I Don't care how much talent he has, is that really what we want?

Hey, if it means a lot of winning and contending I'll happily put up with it.

I just think it's one of those situations where the talk divides the locker room against each other or the coaching staff.

I hope we're all ready for Deion To be the future head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Because that's the only thing that may (may) shut him up.

Nah, nothing will shut him up.

Would it be worth 18 months of misery, trading Maxx, firing AP, hiring Mike McDaniel/Mike McCarthy/Brian Daboll/Kliff Kingsbury, and finding a way to stall all progress in the interim in order to land Arch Manning in 2026?

Asking for a friend.

Some guys got cut, let's add them and see what they are or get comp picks lined up. Tyrell Dodson, Terrell Edmonds, Patrick Taylor, Raekwon McMillan, Logan Bruss. Bruss, Edmonds, and Dodson are probably upgrades to what we're starting right now.

Are you suggesting they sign some of these guys with the idea that if they then leave after the season the Raiders could get comp picks for them?

A little of both, yes. Do we get a guy we can keep and improve our team? If not and someone else signs them we get comp picks. Although with Bruss it's a 2 year deal, so 2025 would be included and thus no comp pick, but he's a recent 3rd round pick and a super cheap 2 year deal so take the shot.

I'm with you about kicking the tires on anyone that might make the team better. As far as a comp pick, I doubt anyone they signed now would get them a comp pick if they left after the year. I won't pretend I know the comp pick formula, but I'm pretty sure the guy has to sign for decent money if they leave as a FA.

For example, when Diontae Johnson was traded to the Ravens I read that if he leaves after this year they would get a comp pick for him if he signed for $5m+ in FA.

I’ve been in the section next door. And accidentally went down the escalator to the vvip area. I was immediately given the boot. But from what I saw, king crab legs for days 😂. And friends that have been in there say it’s free top shelf booze. Johnny walker blue, 1942, etc

It doesn't take a lot to qualify for comp picks. Dodson's contract last year was worth a 6th. Not sure what they had going on there, but he was SEA's leading tackler. We're getting two 6th rounders next year for Amik Robertson and Bilal Nichols, and those weren't significant signings at all.

That's what I'm seeing, but there's not a lot of info out there. I pulled the Trigger and for 2 in C134. This looks amazing.

Colleg players opting to stay in school longer due to NIL. (Some are making more money in college than they would playing in the NFL.) Consequently, 6th and 7th-round picks are starting to be considered worthless by some front offices.

Consequently, 6th and 7th-round picks are starting to be considered worthless by some front offices.
What do you base this on? I promise you zero front offices consider anything "worthless". Teams fall all over themselves trying to sign priority UDFA every year and many offer bigger bonus/salary guarantee to them than the late picks get.

Let’s be clear, these picks are becoming worth less (better?).

According to data from Yahoo Sports, only a very small percentage of NFL starters come from the 6th and 7th rounds of the draft, with estimates suggesting that less than 5%of starting players league-wide are drafted in those rounds; this is because the vast majority of starting players are selected in the first few rounds, with a significant portion also coming from undrafted free agents.

Key points about late-round draft picks and starting roles:
  • Low success rate:
Due to the lower talent pool in later rounds, players drafted in the 6th and 7th round have a significantly lower chance of becoming regular starters.

  • Depth and situational roles:
While some players drafted late may contribute as backups or specialists, they are more likely to be used in situational roles rather than starting regularly.

  • Undrafted free agents:
Interestingly, a significant number of starting players in the NFL come from the pool of undrafted free agents, sometimes even exceeding the number of starters from the later draft rounds.

What if Michael Mayer was away from the Raiders for his pure displeasure of Getsy?

It would be like the episode of The Office where Michael wants to get ready of Toby, but is told they can't fire him without cause.
I have visions of, in the hands of a capable head coach, OC and QB, Bowers and Mayer being Gronk/Hernandez lite.
2010:
Gronk 42/546/10
Hernandez 45/563/6
2011:
Gronk 90/1327/17
Hernandez 79/910/7
2012:
Gronk 55/790/11
Hernandez 51/483/5

I'd even, gulp, sign McDaniels up for OC if he could make something similar happen. Can you imagine him drawing his HC salary on top of an OC salary with the Raiders? :ROFLMAO:

You wouldn't want Mayer & Bowers to become statistically similar to the heyday of Gronk & Hernandez?

I'm all for tanking for the #1 pick but not, like forever.

It was an over reaction to the mcdaniels part
