2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Jersey number is SRS BZNS ☠ (2 Viewers)

Carr retiring. The raiders dodged a bullet there. I wish him well.
I am pretty sure that it the nicest thing you have ever said in relation to him. :pickle:
Nah. I always said he was good dude. Just didn’t like his qb play.
He seemed like a good person and was the best QB the Raiders had for a long time. There were glimmers of hope when he was drafted and for a few years after but it never all came together.

Looks like the Raiders are going to sign Jaylon Smith. He's a guy I always love to root for... even though I don't think there is a program I dislike more than Notre Dame.

He had the look of an all-timer and he became the poster boy for why these kids should sit out Bowl games.

Looked like he was getting it finally and then broke his leg then went back to the old ways and never returned

Hope it works out, but probably not likely. Raiders LB group is very shaky. Spillane was probably worth an "overpay".

Free-agent DE Jahfari Harvey, WR Ketron Jackson Jr., WR Key'Shawn Smith and LB Wesley Steiner signed undisclosed contracts with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday, May 12. OT Dominic Boyd, Amari Burney, DT Matthew Butler, WR Tyreik McAllister and Brandon N. Smith were waived. WR Kristian Wilkerson was also released.

Amari Burney, DT Matthew Butler
Bummer.

But this is the thing with new staff. They want their own projects, their own developmental guys. Carroll might not give a dang about a guy like Eichenberg.

Burney and Butler would make it to training camp with the staff that brought them to the team. They are better than guys in the roster, at the same position. New staff ain't even trying to check them out.

I imagine these are statement moves about Pete's competition culture... There was a voluntary minicamp a few weeks ago, and maybe some of these names didn't take it seriously enough. They certainly weren't high enough on the depth charts to be safe.

Or they just didn't show enough in camp. Butler is a bit of a surprise to me.... Burney a little less but still somewhat surprising. I think we have seen some flashes of potential but we certainly dealing with finished products... they were projects.... also, I think it is important to keep in mind, the defensive staff is largely intact. It isn't like they do not know these guys.

Buzz out of mini camp is Mason Graham does not look like a top ten pick.
Meh. In high school, Our left tackle used to puke in the huddle all the time. All over Danny’s left foot. 😂😂😂. Danny was not amused. But Colin was huge and would fight anyone. So Danny just lived with one disgusting cleat. It was like Colin was aiMing for it 😂😂😂

Was not the throwing up that was the buzz. His work in drills.... but maybe he is sick

Your first-look at Nicolas Cage as John Madden and Christian Bale as Al Davis on set of the upcoming film, Madden. Production is currently underway. The film follows Madden’s remarkable journey—from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history. David O. Russell is directing the film, which also stars John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, Kathryn Hahn as Virginia Madden, and Sienna Miller as Carol Davis. #MaddenMovie

Do you think Mark opening the wallet to get poach these guys?

The Philadelphia Eagles are losing a valuable member of their front office.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Las Vegas Raiders have hired former Eagles' Senior Director of Scouting Brandon Hunt as their new Vice President of Player Personnel.

"Sources: The #Raiders are hiring #Eagles Senior Director of Scouting Brandon Hunt as their Vice President of Player Personnel under new GM John Spytek. A highly respected talent evaluator and a strong addition in Vegas," Schultz writes.

In Las Vegas, Hunt will reunite with Anthony Patch, who departed the Eagles last week after 23 years in Philly to become the Raiders’ senior personnel executive.

Patch had served as the Eagles' senior director of college scouting since 2016 before leaving for Vegas. His previous roles with the team included director of college scouting (2012–2015), assistant director of college scouting (2010–2011), West Coast area scout (2003–2009), and college scouting coordinator (2002).

Patch began his NFL career in 2001 as an intern in the Miami Dolphins' personnel department. He played four years as a defensive lineman and linebacker at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, earning a degree in finance before completing his MBA at the University of Montana in 2001.

DAMMIT! More off season optimism that this team might actually be on the right track to regaining respect and being competitive.
I hate optimism since I’ve been let down so much. ;)

(But this seems like objectively amazing planning and execution to build a top, proven front office)

Is that what this feeling is? Optimism?

I've been confused for months because I'm so conditioned to false hope at this time of year.

But this has been different, like I've been tingling in places I don't normally tingle.

Maybe that's why my dad just told me that we needed to have a man-to-man talk.

Optimism? Hmh...interesting.

Predictions be damned, I am feeling Coach Pete's game-is-life philosophy and excited to see it play out for the Raiders. Sensing luck and gratitude for having Carroll, Spytek and Brady suddenly leading this franchise!

In depth interview with Spytek. Good Stuff.

Pete Carroll on Christian Wilkins's foot rehab

“Every day he’s here early, working hard, but we’re still working,” Carroll said, via video from Heidi Fang of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “He’s not ready to get back out. We’re in the midst of a long, challenging process. Fortunately, there’s a lot of time, and we’re going to take every bit of it. We’ve really tried to be really diligent in the way we’ve worked it and the way we’ve wanted it and all that, and he’s been on board the whole time. But it has been challenging.”

Cut Carlson..that’s lame
You want to cut the All-Pro kicker for ...what exactly?
For being a greedy donk. He’s made 19.5M so far. 5M for next year. Lame to take the rookie’s money.

More importantly his fg percentage is going down every single year. 85% last year. Good for 19th. 92% on xp good for 28th. He ain’t that great any more.

Jeanty's rookie signing bonus, $22.75 mil, is apparently more than Carlson's career earnings.

And at least part of the buyout is going to charity. Not faulting Carlson for a fairly standard practice.

It’s a practice I don’t like. you’re a declining kicker, way to flex.

Obviously it's the quiet time of year which makes this something we even bother discussing but what would you prefer Carlson have done?

Give up the number he's worn for seven seasons to a rookie? Say no outright?

Honestly, what's wrong with two people placing a value on something and making a transaction?

Agreed. Fun, silly non-story.
