2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-4, Currently hold the #4 pick in the draft. (8 Viewers)

Ugly as it was, I'm happy with the W.

Chase hasn't lived up to billing yet (I'm holding on to some hope, it's a long season), but the missed catches/drops were more disappointing than the rushing attempts.

Tua's timing was very clearly off. Not all that surprising it being his first full week since week 3.

MMcD had his worst game and being able to call it a learning experience teaching moment while getting the W is a win in of itself.
Pitt did their adjustments and we didn't see the same type of halftime/in game adjustments that we normally get.
I didn't mind the 4th down attempt to go for it, wasn't a fan of the play call. The late game play clock could've been the killer, but it wasn't.... teaching moment.
Being at the game.....it as more than just timing. Bad reads.....far too many actually.
I'll look for what you saw when I watch the all 22

Miami should try and rescue Jeff Wilson, slide Chase down to RB 3 on the depth charts
SF used a lot of their picks to get CMC, I'm sure Wilson can be had for very little and he's a free agent next year.
Perfect compliment for Mostert and they can share the load and mitigate injury the rest of the way.
Plus he likely knows the playbook or much of it that McDaniel is using right now. Mostert is having success, why wouldn't Wilson do likewise?

I haven't discussed it but there is an outside possibility that Miami wins a couple more, think they will have some issues and a steady ground game to lean on in cold weather and when Tua is off the mark, might be good for the Phins to explore something like this.

Going to be a dog fight every week

7-4 prior to B2B road games in California? I think they split these 2 road games and are 5-4 with a must win vs a Cleveland team without their starting QB, take Houston and you are sitting within striking range of the Playoffs with a tough schedule ahead, perhaps.

They are likely to be sitting at about 9-7 with a chance to win 10 games and some sort of Playoff scenario for their Home finale vs the Jets...do you see it any other way? For every surprise win they will drop one they shouldn't.

Chase edmonds has been a drive killer. Every time he is out there he either gains nothing or drops a pass that hits him in the hands. Not sure if it is a terrible slump or what, but he is the biggest reason the offense grinds to a halt.

Honorable mention is Tyreek slowing down on some of his routes. More than once I saw Tua throw it to where Ty was going to be if he didn't slow down.

I watched Houtz's every Tua play just to see some of the critical plays again.

Edmonds had 2 drops, but you are right, Hill was a bit disappointing as well. He was involved in 3 of the INT worthy plays. The first one was not a great throw but still hit Hill in the hands and was deflected. Luckily it was a hard thrown ball and the deflection caught the DB by surprise which led to the drop. A softer thrown ball with that deflection probably gets picked.

On the second play (2nd Q, 20 seconds left), the ball was way underthrown by Tua (ignore the open players in the flats as the time left and no timeouts would have been conceding a FG at that point). Hill got lazy and needed to fight for that ball when he saw it was short. Luckily the DB didn't tuck it in quick and Hill was able to still knock it away.

On the last play (4th Q, 2:40 left), that was a terrible play call by the coaches. I would have run it, but I can defend the decision to pass too. But you need 3 yards, not 15. Why would you run a play where you only have 2 receivers (Long and Hill) and both are in the same spot of the field 15 yards past the marker? Tua had no chance to complete that pass and probably the smart play would be just fall down and keep the clock running. One of the receivers (and I am thinking Hill), needed to cut their route shorter by about 5-7 yards. His DB would have been picked off by the LB and he would have an easy catch at about the 35 yard line. Hill ended up crossing from the right and his speed ended up running him right into Long's route on the left side who was at the same depth downfield.

I wonder if Hill is slowing down because he does not have confidence in Tuas deep ball.
I remember 2 times where Hill was wide open Sunday night and Tua badly underthrew him

Eric Rowe was a thing at one time, last year he lost his starting spot to Brandon Jones and they kept him on anyways at over $5M this season.
That's right, this team pays $16M to Gesicki and Rowe and get very little although mostly due tho their lack of playing Gesicki and using him.

DB-Jamal Perry played 31 games for Miami and was signed on to our practice squad, you all remember him?

Not even a full week left until the trade deadline... bringing in DBs & WRs tells us something about their thoughts...

Lot's of people think the Dolphins make a trade for someone. Big splash? Smaller? Who?

what would it take to pry Gesicki away. Whose role is more nuanced opening the field vs catching...

Gesicki leaving would free up a lot of money to make a BIG MOVE
DB/S should be a priority, Pass Rush specialist would be helpful
Karrem Hunt or even a Jeff Wilson to line up with Mostert since Chase is a bust, nothing personal against Edmonds, like a lot of his skills but they don't seem to mix well in this offense and he's had plenty of time and reps to be at his best, it's just not there.

Pass Rush specialist would be helpful
respectfully disagree
Edmonds, like a lot of his skills but they don't seem to mix well in this offense and he's had plenty of time and reps to be at his best, it's just not there.
agree that it's taken far much longer than I'd thought, sadly.
The Miami Dolphins are 4th Worst, they rank 29th in cumulative QBH(Hurry), QBKD and sacks...15% of opposing QB drop backs so I appreciate you respectfully disagreeing but the stats tell a different story and I think they would benefit from 1 more pass rusher.

Phillips 7 QB Hits, 3 sacks
Ogbah 6 QB Hits, 1 sacks
Ingram 4 QB Hits, 2 sacks
-I just want to arm you with the stats as I see them, we can disagree but they need another sure fire OLB/Pass Rusher IMHO.

And I'm not upset Miami tried to upgrade at RB, they brought in 2 FA, they had UDFA in camp, 2 holdovers in Ahmed and Gaskin, they have tried and Mostert has stuck and proven he is a solid RB that understands the offense, I see future coach for Raheem, one of the most intelligent RBs we have had since I'll say Reggie Bush. I would like to see them go rescue Jeff WIlson and have both of them for the home stretch, we might need him.

Our pass rush was based on a cover 0 scheme and we simply do not have the horses to run that with Byron and now Brandon Jones out.

I would trade Gesicki for a 2023 2nd rounder at a minimum. We gotta move him because we gonna get nothing for him when he leaves and he simply has not been utilized enough here to justify the tag we put on him.

I would even lower that to something like a 3rd next year and maybe a 3rd or 4th in '24, we are already down a 3rd from '24 and of course Ross was found guilty of tampering and forfeited OUR 1st Rd pick next year due to his incompetence, the likes we have never seen, this type of spotlight is UNPRECEDENTED

But yeah they need to move Gesicki for anything except maybe the Patriots who would love to offer a 4th or 5th for him and see if they'll take it vs NOTHING.

Ok, so lets be honest here. Miami likely needs pass rushers and Corners. Since we have the injuries at corner we are not playing cover zero at this point (how can you?) so we need guys who can get to the QB. Even if its a LB that has fallen out of favor.

On offense I do not think we need anything. As a fan I'd love to see us give up a second or third day pick for Tunsil just bc of all his history with the team, but I think the o line we have is the o line we will carry for the rest of the season.

That being said, we only gave up 10 points to pitt, and we should have scored 24, not 16. This offense needs to hit its stride now that tua is back and everyone seems to be getting their role (except for Edmonds. He's useless right now)

Cedric Wilson is useless, after the trade for Hill. He's behind Sherfield and Cracraft who are on 1-year deals, but I'd rather see Easy E play tbh. He signed a 3-year deal after looking good in Dallas. Does he have any trade value, or do we keep him for depth and 2023?

Another baffling signing by Grier. We simply are not using him. And we should be. He has a lot of speed and more size than Waddle and Hill. They gotta start getting him involved.

Grier does not seem in sync with McDaniels on some of these signings? Or maybe they are flops. Hard to say.

I think we need to take a moment with Wilson. He was signed before Hill became available. Assuming that the hill deal never materializes, then Waddle is the speed guy and wilson was going to be the size guy. Once Hill came into the fold, it changed everything and strangely, there is almost no role for him now (especially since the other two WRs are special teams guys too). We shall see...

(Btw, considering what has happened to our Defensive backfield, I hope this coaching staff is smart enough to not have Holland field punts until guys start getting healthy)

Well they did have Wilson field punts against the Steelers.

Wilson has to feel snake bit, going out with ribs when the offense starting cooking Sherfield getting time and playing well at a fraction of the cost.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was traded but that cap hit isn't nothing.

Braylon Sanders made some nice plays this presason… up for Cracraft who’s got out with a neck.
I know he has to learn all the positions, but how much longer does EZE need to learn the playbook?

Nice. Win, but not sure why they brought in the drive killer (Edmonds) with 5 minutes left and up by 4. Thankfully they went to mosert when it mattered.
Another weird Brain Fart by an otherwise pretty logical head coach that we all have admired thus far.

5-3, won't go too deep but he is making mistakes and it should be noted...did I mention he's 5 and 3?

5-0 when the starter finishes the game.

@houtz

McDaniel on tua's TD pass to mike gesicki

"that was the first time we've ever hit that route on that concept. you rarely ever see it. it was something that was #4 in the progression that he progressed through very quickly."

That was his (Tua’s) most impressive play of the day.

Despite some of his short comings the kid has balled this year. We are a different team when he is at the helm. And I like Skylar….but Tua has turned a corner here. When he is given time he has been a surgeon.

Hill and Waddle are on a single season record shattering pace. It’s pretty awesome to finally see us moving the ball up andndown the field ala the Marino/Duper/Clayton days.

Fun times.

On to the Windy City!!!

Gotta watch Gesicki talk about this

Evidently Peter King mentioned on sky news the Dolphins being a possible Bradley Chubb landing spot.
Like the player, ofc. Not sure I want to pay the rumored cost unless they can sign him to a long term contract.

What is the rumored cost?
At least a first if not more. Jets also reportedly in the mix.

he’s in the last year of his rookie deal
All the big Playoff teams have one, you know what I mean.

Von Miller, Bosa
-Chubb is 18th out of 113 ranked Edge/OLB types across the NFL and he was drafted #5 overall

-12 sacks his rookie year, has not come close since, whether that is injury, pandemic, whatever but I would be cautious before spending a lot on him.

-In his 5th year option so they are up against the wall, a franchise tag would put them way over the cap heading into next season, they won't be able to pay him plus I'm not sure he is worth it.
5.5 sacks in 8 games, he is in the 10-12 sack range yearly when he is healthy, that's solid but not Top5 money which is likely what he wants.

If we are going to spend a lot of money, not sure I want to do it here. Big name free agents don't always work out especially at Defense, that DB-Jones from Dallas has been a money hole for us and also made us pay up to Howard so he was ahead of Jones financially.

Thing are going pretty well but we are down some future draft picks.

Hill, Waddle and Gesicki as you enter the red zone or try and advance the ball down the field, incredible trio for Tua to work with.
The ground game is decent with Mostert but it always feels like it's 1 carry here, maybe a touch or two there, it's not a steady ground attack and I think they need a stronger RB1 that can be the alpha or part of stronger 2 back attack and force teams to put a guy or two in the box at times and then drop Tua back and call the "F It" play to Hill on play action, would be a thing of beauty

2020 10-7
2021 9-8
2022 5-3, 5-0 when Tua starts and finishes

You all will love this...1-7 was Miami going into the 2nd Half last year, yes/no? And Tua was the QB for most of the 2nd Half if not ALL of the games.
8-1 down the stretch in '21 and 5-0 when he starts and finishes in 2022

Is Tua 13-1 in his last 14 starts at QB or am I smoking really strong cheeba?

Tua is our QB going forward - think he's more than proved that this year.

They need to seriously upgrade at ILB - I've seen enough of Baker & Roberts.

I'm glad you mention this.
Baker-Last week late in the Steelers game when Pickett had a long run or a good chunk on a scramble play. When they showed the replay, Baker was running or trailing a receiver and was deadlocked on to him, ran right by Pickett and never noticed he was taking off on a scramble, his awareness level in madden would need to be set at like "27" it's that bad.

Roberts-That flag yesterday for taunting made me want to puke, you just got ripped for 10 yds and you act like you made a play on the RB out of bounds? Very bad look for Roberts.

Miami needs a stronger Front 7, that's what has been missing.
How many times was Christian Wilkins lined up offsides yesterday? How about the entire Defense?
