2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (5 Viewers)

>>Wilson's catch at the 25 second mark of this video caught my eye last year. Very, very clutch. Game is over if he doesn't catch it.<<

Our new #2 WR?

https://twitter.com/BryanSm08677704/status/1504169806605570051?s=20&t=hDspXQjr1Vh7GlL6qt0Ppw
What I love is I see a guy getting separation quickly and not far down the field, most of those routes are well within Tua's arm range. Not ripping him or tearing Tua down, just that he should be able to comfortably throw a 10-15 yd out or dig route, Wilson appears to excel at short routes. He might not bust 'em to the house but he's going to concentrate on getting first downs and extending drives and watching the opponents offense collect dust on the bench, that works great IMO since we have a solid defense but they barely get a rest most of the time, would kill for drives that go for 5-6-7 minutes and then the Defense is totally rested coming on the field.

I'm not obtuse but I am a hardass on this team. I give the owner zero credit for anything and i have started to try and distance myself from being able to root for them and still disliking the owner even more than i already did, I've always been hard on Ross, to my knowledge you have voiced extreme displeasure as well. I don't know many on here that sing his praises.

-I would love 1 more solid OL before we get to the Draft but I am happy with what they've done so far and also not being overly committed which was a theme last year. Several of the peeps on 1 yr deals last year signed right back up this year. That makes me believe that despite a lot of negative media reports on the Dolphins that the reality of day to day life for most on this team is pretty delightful. Did you see Gesicki sign his contract from some secluded beautiful island? That's what its all about, he was drafted Top 40, did well and carried the Dolphins flag and was rewarded with a deal, hopefully a much longer deal but the team likes him enough to franchise tag him and his ego wasn't above signing it as quickly as possible.

-I cannot believe I'm going to toss a bone to Chris Grier but I was actually happy for Charles Harris who bombed here, stunk in Atlanta and finally he did well in Detroit and I believe rewarded with a 2 yr extension in the last couple days. Why would any Miami fan care, right? Well maybe he wasn't as bad as we thought, maybe he needed the right coach or staff and I was happy he found something because I thought for sure after Atlanta that he was destined for the USFL. Was Grier wrong selecting him, probably still was since he stunk for 4-5 years but I found it interesting.

-Tua-AJ and Igbo is almost unforgivable at the moment for having 3 first round picks. I think it would be nothing short of a miracle if all 3 eventually are extended here in Miami but stranger things have happened. Maybe 2022, Year 3 is the year it clicks for at least 2 of those selections, that would ease some of the pain.

-The good news is we still have draft capital next year, lots of solid players up and down the roster and we're going to discover quickly if we have any hope with the current QB. I have no faith in this head coach but I am going to eventually have to let it go. A big splash at Tackle might satisfy some of the fan base but it would be so much better if we could find one more solid guy in the Draft to fill the spot. I'd like to see them pony up at Center where Tua has to take the direct snap every time. It's been shaky at best since he got here.

Mostert added. Hope he stays healthy.
As the expression goes, you can hope in one hand and poop in the other, and see which fills up 1st?

Still - a crushing blow to Edmonds owners who for 24 fleeting, precious hours thought they finally had a feature back. :(

Few feature backs anymore, my guess was Edmonds was going to be part of a RBBC some way or another.

Good for the Dolphins, not so good for fantasy.

Guessing that at least one of Gaskin or Ahmed won’t be making the final roster.

Also probably reduces the odds that they draft one of the top RBs.

Mostert inbound.

Mostert added. Hope he stays healthy.
He's already worn the Miami uniform albeit briefly in 2015

-No opinion and hope this isn't a lengthy contract. Might make the team and maybe not, depends on what falls in the Draft and i expect 5-6 RBs competing throughout camp, don't assume anything.

I do expect Chase to be involved in the passing game heavily. Mostert is here to explain the playbook to a better younger stronger more durable RB, don't get too hung up that Coach M&M brought in someone who knows his offense. I expect more of these along the way.

1 year for 3ish I think. Gotta love the focus on the run game.

RB-Chase Edmonds

RB-Raheem Mostert

RB-Myles Gaskin...they save $2.5M with almost no dead cap hit and can release him any time they want...

The 3rd guy was our 1st guy last year, we're already so much better and it's only going up from here in the run game.

It's ####### criminal what they did to Tua in terms of getting him a solid stud at RB or a group of talented backs to help him with the heavy lifting.

Add in Connor Williams and they're not done, might even sign another RB if they choose to.

He does, and so does Edmonds. I think they will both benefit with a healthy rotation. I wouldn’t be shocked if another RB was added in the middle/late rounds as well.
I still like Pierce from Florida but he was the 2nd slowest RB at the combine. That also might explain why he rated as one of the very best at yds after contact while at Florida. Mostly used in short yardage but I like him and think Miami could do something with him.

Rookie RB from the Draft is definitely in the cards however there aren't many quality or superstar RBs in the Draft build up. Most skill positions are down this year. Seems like OL/DL/LB/DB and Safety are the way to go.

I had hoped that Mostert didn't get more than a 1 yr/$3M deal and that is almost exactly what he got. It tells me Miami can cut him any time they feel they have gotten good enough at RB they no longer need him. I don't expect him to last long and I won't be shocked if he isn't on the final roster.

This is a good move to hide their hand going into the draft. They will talk up Mostert and Chase but believe you me, they're looking for someone that can be like Elijah Mitchell was last year in San Fran...and he was taken 3 rounds after Trey Sermon who I was kinda hoping we could trade a late round pick across and snatch him up. I like his upside.

Still like what they are doing in terms of not looking obvious and can go BPA almost every time in the Draft, that's smart.

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to deals with six players now, including fullback Alec Ingold, who has reportedly signed a two-year deal worth up to $7.5 million. This deal would make him the second-highest-paid fullback in the NFL.

Now, the only fullback making more money than Ingold is San Francisco’s Kyle Juszczyk, whose contract has an average annual value of $5.4 million.

What do those two players now have in common? They have both been targeted to play in Kyle Shanahan/Mike McDaniel’s system.

During Ingold’s three seasons with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, he was a solid blocker, as he was rated third among all fullbacks in 2021 by Pro Football Focus with a 71.3 run-blocking grade. However, Ingold was also a surprising option out of the backfield as a receiver.

His numbers don’t jump off the page, but 28 receptions, 239 yards and three touchdowns are not numbers to look down on from a fullback in this period of football.

In McDaniel’s offensive scheme, this may be the biggest change for the Dolphins this offseason. In this age, not many teams were using the tight end as much as the 49ers did during McDaniel’s tenure with the team. Looking at Juszczyk’s numbers during that time could be a predictor for what Dolphins fans could expect from Ingold.

While McDaniel was with San Francisco, Juszczyk was on the field for 50.4% of the team’s offensive snaps. He earned five Pro Bowl nominations while recording 132 receptions, 1,376 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns while adding another 154 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

It would be a lot to expect that of Ingold, especially when he’s returning from an ACL injury that he suffered in the second half of this past season, but this is what Miami is hoping to find.

If Ingold can help improve the running game and bring something in the passing game, the signing could be considered a win.

Yes, but Mostert actually has talent. When healthy.
Agreed. I'd fully expect Mostert to start over Edmonds. Him costing less is 100% durability related, not ability related.

I'm not sure they add anyone in the draft to be honest. They have a lot of needs, and RB arguably isn't one.

Mostert was arguably my favorite FA RB available, considering we knew he'd be cheap.

They added more depth at WR.

I really think Watson signs with NO and Armstead follows.
The WR from SF, Trent Sherfield, is training camp depth. I think we miss out on both Armstead & Trent Brown and draft an OT early. The improvement on the oline needs to come from scheme, coaches, and the players themselves. We may only get 1 new player on the OL, Connor Williams at LG, who has graded out better than A Jackson. I hope the oline improves enough so we'll know whether Tua can be good with at least an average oline. The line has been bottom 2 three years in a row.

JC Tretter-Center from Cleveland is the next guy I want us to take a strong look at. That would make LG-C-RG a lot stronger than last season. Miami can look and find OL to develop throughout the Draft, maybe they can find an impact Rookie tackle.

indeed. I mentioned him previously... if they're able to make it happen.  chef's kiss

Rumors Collins will be in town tonight at some point for a physical.

That would be insane and at least a small admission from the FO they can't pick the right guys in the Draft
Collins is likely to sign with the Bengals. Not sure about Armstead.

If none of them sign, it might be that McDaniel and Tua need to prove something before big names come here, give that other teams are competitive with the $$$ offered to the free agent.

BPA. The draft experts say there's lot of value at the end of the first round. Tankathon has us picking LB Nakobe Dean. Smaller LB with range, pass rush ability:

-Pick 6 and PBU vs. Florida (2021)

-2 yards allowed on 4 targets vs. Michigan in Semifinal (2021)

-2 sacks and 5 pressures vs. Clemson (2021)

If you were a LB playing behind that Georgia DL then you'd be going late 1st as well.

-I know Dean looks pretty good but he played behind a super talented DL in Georgia, makes me just a little leery.

Leo Chenal from Wisconsin is on my radar.

I don't think Chenal is considered 1st round material, but he's been rising. He is a run stopper and can rush the passer. Consider Chenal at 2.15?

At 1.29, BPA whether it's IOL (Z Johnson, K Green), WR (J Willamson), or maybe Devon Lloyd if he falls.

I didn't mean 1.29, might be able to get him after 50 actually. Probably won't make it to the 101 selection.

-Not sure how they swing it but I would like to see 29-50-101 look more like 43-50-60-101

There are 32 moving pieces in a draft, so it's not easy to swing.  But I like your idea of a trade-down to get more 2nd rounders, where there's lots of quality, perhaps this year in particular. Grier has not been afraid to make draft trades, you gotta give him that. For better and worse.

God Bless our man Dave or @Anarchy99 his alter ego

Last season ranked in the Top 10 in scoring:

2021: BUF, CIN, DAL, GB, IND, KC, LAC, LAR, NE, TB
2020: BAL, NO, SEA, TEN
2019: MIN, SF
2018: ATL, CHI, PIT
2017: DET, JAC, PHI
2016: ARI, LV
2015: CAR, NYG
2014: DEN
2012: HOU, WAS
2008: NYJ
2007: CLE
2001: MIA

20 years and still going strong!

-You all wonder how MoP got so jaded over the years...

Alec Ingold quickly becoming one of my new favorite players.

-In an effort to be fair and balanced since I go on endlessly about everything wrong under the Sun...and Moon I might add, haha. But in an effort to at lest unwrap where we are heading, I really think you should listen to that 5-6 minute clip because it's going to be a new wrinkle in this Offense and something I think we will see a lot of throughout the season on 1st and 2nd Down.

-First of all he speaks well of the organization and took a second to recognize a deep history here despite the more recent failures of this franchise. I like the way he is optimistic about the Offense in getting Chase, Raheem and Myles in space by getting the OL moving, those were his words mostly but I like what I hear from him. It sounds like there is a plan, he came in on a 2 yr deal and these contracts now are about half so he's got a year to prove he can be the guy to fill that Fullback role.

Dare I say it but he seems to have good football awareness, i'm sure he's not going to completely overhaul the Offense or takeover but his blocks to free up some of these RBs is key. FYI, I hear Mostert is fast 🤷‍♂️. Chase Edmonds is kinda quick. I bet that Coach M&M can go back and find footage of holes that were never filled by our RBs because they are so slowwwwww. I bet Gaskin doesn't make the team, honestly I still see Miami grabbing another RB in the Draft and look for another UDFA after 7 rounds are over that we suddenly hear camp reports that guys are blowing thru holes like we haven't see in...wait for it, 20 YEARS!

I'm trying to keep an open mind and we're going to be looking a lot more like Vegas and San Fran. As we get closer to the draft I will try and repost our spots and general idea of what we might do or what positions are pretty thick at those picks.

-What would be wrong with bringing in Cole Beasley? I've always liked him.

DYK?

MoP Notes: Michael Dieter, the current Center for the Miami Dolphins, did you know...Pro-Football-Focus has him rated with a 60.6 overall blocking rating last year, the second-highest on the team. Pro-Football-Focus also only credits him with one sack allowed all year.

He is still under contract this year and i want to to start focusing more on how CM&M is going to take what we already have, not just Tua but folks like Dieter and Jackson and squeeze the very last drop out of them. Sink, Swim, they are either going to make it or we are going to clear the slate all over again but i like that we are trying to salvage high picks instead of just cutting them. Harris, 2017-1st just signed a 2 yr extension in Detroit, good for him cause he stunk in every way when he was here but something clicked along the way, Grier saw some sort of talent and that extension is proof that we need a better Coach that can develop players.

Shula used to develop players and didn't always have the No 1 pick in the Draft...

-The fact Omar Kelly is roasting the Phins makes me want to go the other way and maybe these aren't all sexie free agent signing s but most of Flores weren't over the top either. Don't hate Flores for showing us how a professional goes to work and don't be afraid to see similarities in a good way all the things we liked about Flores and now we have McDaniel who isn't just splashing cash on the over hyped and over priced free agents. We had Suh at one time, it was terrible here. We know how to spend money to win the off season and its very empty.

-Did we lose even 1 starter on our Defense? We have not discussed this yet but I'm about to go deep on the Defense and try and figure out why we get lit up by good teams.

The Bengals oline just go better, after getting better earlier in free agency:

>>#Bengals new offensive line:

LT Jonah Williams
LG Jackson Carman/D’Ante Smith/Rookie/Other
C Ted Karras
RG Alex Cappa
RT La’el Collins.

Plus, depth of last year’s draft picks developing and flexibility to go BPA at the top of this year’s draft.<<

It's down to... >>So Dolphins - who haven't signed a single NFL tackle among 18 signings - now must hope for Armstead or sift through the 15 others that remain (Trent Brown, Fisher, Duane Brown, Billy Turner etc.). Or pray for internal improvement.<<

Just a footnote really but...all this Urban Meyer stuff in the Atlantic and just how awful he was and I go back to that game in London last year...OMGoodness and we predicted the Phins would be the team that loses, the only team I think that lost to Urban Meyer...that's how I look at it.

That game would have put us at B2B 10-7 seasons and I'm not sure if we woulda made the Playoffs or not. And that was after starting 0-7 on a complete rebuild we did the Year prior to that.

Interesting

Have you all ever looked at Armstead's injury history?

In 8-9 seasons, the guy misses a good month every year if you're lucky. I'm just saying that when I see twitter feeds of things like this as he works his way back from off season knee surgery and I am reminded of how fragile this guy is.

Rookie year started all of 2 games, maybe he worked his way into the starting role but after that...

2014-14 games, missed 2

2015-13 games, missed 3

2016  7(Over Half a Season)

2017  10(Misses over a 1/3)

2018  10(Misses over a 1/3 again)

2019  15, missed 2, that was a pretty good year

2020  14, missed 3 games

2021   8(Over half a season)...just be careful what you wish for or hitch your wagons to. I think Miami will still need to look in the Draft for 1-2-3 more bodies they will need throughout the  season. I don't want to hear any more about Tua having no time to set up as an excuse why he fails.

I won't cry that much if they somehow don't sign him. I actually think he wants to come play here on grass, the best turf in the NFL, we don't see a lot of blown out knees on our field most Sundays. Not saying it doesn't happen but if the choices are whatever is inside the Dome vs what they play on in Miami, his knee will love this place.

Y'all will love Armstead when he plays but he's always hurt.  He has played in games when he should have sat and it affected his play but he was always a team player trying to fight through it.  He has had a good bit of arm and pectoral injuries the last couple of seasons.  Bittersweet to lose him; great guy.

It's not quite official, just yet.
