2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (10 Viewers)

CB William Jackson III is expected to be released, plays man. His salary and back injury are trade prohibitive... wouldn't surprise me if he gets released and his back immediately gets better.
per sportrac. https://www.spotrac.com/spots/early-nfl-trade-candidates-1622/

The Commanders take on dead cap hits of $10.8M in 2022 ($3M saved), & $9M in 2023 ($6.75M saved). New team acquires cap & cash hits of $3M for 2022, $12.75M for 2023 ($2.5M roster bonus due March 17th).

Steelers trade for him

Trade terms, source tells ESPN:
MIA trades: ⁃2023 1st (SF pick) ⁃2024 4th ⁃RB Chase Edmonds
DEN trades: ⁃OLB Bradley Chubb ⁃2025 5th

Interesting. They get the pass rusher they need and lose the drive killer. Next up, Ced Wilson to Green Bay?

Miami should try and rescue Jeff Wilson, slide Chase down to RB 3 on the depth charts
SF used a lot of their picks to get CMC, I'm sure Wilson can be had for very little and he's a free agent next year.
Perfect compliment for Mostert and they can share the load and mitigate injury the rest of the way.
Plus he likely knows the playbook or much of it that McDaniel is using right now. Mostert is having success, why wouldn't Wilson do likewise?

I haven't discussed it but there is an outside possibility that Miami wins a couple more, think they will have some issues and a steady ground game to lean on in cold weather and when Tua is off the mark, might be good for the Phins to explore something like this.
And this happened

"Go big or go home" - Chris Grier. Wow.

A late 1st round pick to fill a position of need. Extension has to be coming soon for Chubb.

At least we don't have to worry about watching the draft next year.

Tua officially our franchise QB.

Grier going for it.

We can't wait to trade those 1st round picks away
Miami needed some serious help in the pass rush
Think Chubb is going to be costly and don't like parting with our only decent pick next season, trading a 1st, I assume the two sides are already working an extension that might be announced shortly or soon

What you see now is about what you will see in 2023, Miami doesn't have much to wheel and deal with now.

I think this also says a lot about how they feel about their backup QB as well. Dolphins hitting on Skylar Thompson means that they feel they have their backup and project already in the building if something happens to Tua. Next year it will likely be a minimum guy at QB as the wisdom in the room/3rd QB.

MoP; Dolphins are in play this year for a playoff run and have the horses to compete there. Even with the cluster-F in the secondary the defense has played "well". When Tua has been HEalthy the O has been lights out.

You may not have been noticing.... But we're contenders now...

Most interesting thing is there is an hour to go and Ced Wilson and Gesecki are still on the team...

Another benefit to Chubb despite my apprehensions is that he pairs with Phillips and that will make the PAIR of them a lot more potent so look for Jaelan Phillips to see his sack totals and QB pressures rise over the coming weeks

If you're looking for some big-league clout, apply for that little green home run hitter.

They are not lights out
This not the greatest show on turf 2
They were not laying the wood to New England, Pittsburgh or Baltimore for the 1st 3 quarters I might add.
Contenders? Playoffs perhaps but you gotta win a Playoff game I think before you start talking contender.

I really enjoy watching you all get so excited, less than 10 days ago they were 3-3 and we were all hanging our heads in disbelief, now we're contenders and going for it all.
My reasoning for trying to put my hands up with a slow your roll motion is I don't see the running game to accompany this passing game they've unleashed. Mostert is an improvement but...now maybe Wilson over Edmonds but it isn't going to transform them into a Top 5 running team and i think they need to get a lot better running the football to have a chance in January which is when they will be playing these "Contender Games" ye speak of.

Does anyone remember those late season or even wildcard playoff games from the historical archives? Cold Cold Cold, ball is heavy and hard to Tua'Fling it all over the place in places like Buffalo, Kansas City, New York, Cincinnati, Baltimore, awful places in January.

in the Pivot podcast they asked Raheem why Miami he referred to “Mikey” and the Dolphins being one game away from the playoffs the last two years. Then saying just get into the dance and you can make a run.

DO you think any teams lead is safe vs us right now? I don't. When was the last time we could say that? Are we sticking with our bad decisions and ramming our head against the wall in a losing effort, or trying new and dynamic things to be a better team? Grier looks like a capable GM and all it took was an offensive minded coach and Ty Hill.

I am kidding about the contender thing, BUT... I think the biggest difference here is that we have a coach who can coach and players who can play. The injury Bug hit hard and we lost some games bc of it, but much like the other solid teams its the QB that makes us what we are. That and a decent defensive coordinator.

Edit to add: How many games do the bills win without Allen? Or the Chiefs without Mahomes? etc etc.

MOre than anthing else, it is exciting to watch this team play again. When was the last time we could say that either.

In Dolphins trade back with 49ers in the 2021 Trey Lance deal, they used SF 21 pick to trade up for Jaylen Waddle, 2022 SF 1st rounder (main piece in Tyreek Hill trade) & 2023 SF 1st rounder (main piece in Bradley Chubb deal).

Lesser picks involved but what a haul:
Waddle, Hill, Chubb

I get the tempered expectations, MoP.

I understand what the playoffs hold in store but really I trust McDrip to put Tua in the best position to win games. MMcD has earned from me in how he's unlocked Tua and this offense.

1-Buffalo 6-1, Orchard Park, New York but won't see until Round 2 since Bills likely take the 1-seed
2-Kansas City, Jan 15th this past year it was 23 degrees and I'm sure if I keep going I'll find similar numbers most years.
3-Tennessee, Nashville might be above freezing
4-Balt/Cin, whichever one takes the North, you can bank on freezing temperatures when we start on the road in the Playoffs.

A wildcard win and the frozen tundra in Buffalo the next week, sounds like we should be able to Pass Pass Pass
Let's mortgage the future and charge those credit cards to the max.

They are fun to watch, i agree with all of you.
When we were down 21-7 to Detroit, when we were barely hanging on vs the Steelers and could not even make a first down in the 4th Q, were you all thinking deep Playoff run?
I'm surprised we are seeing all this today, i'm slow to get as excited as some of you, I'm the most jaded of them all and I understand why you all are excited.

I want to be excited but the buffoon who lost our 1st over Brady tampering is back in the building. Do you let a dog back in to play with others after they bite the first time, second time, third time?

All good, we got Chubb and I hope just his presence gets some of our others involved including Phillips, Van Ginkel and Ingram, those 3 should be able to beat a 1 on 1 match up much easier now.

Life long Braves fan. At some point you have to put your chips into the middle of the table. Last year the Braves were middle of the pack at the deadline, put their chips in the middle, got hot and won it all.

That's what I see the Dolphins did today, the belief that they can get hot.

Did you have the cable box with the buttons and the little switch or nob at the end, maybe 36 channels on that little brown box? The Marlins didn't start until the time graduated high school.
Dale Murphy in '82, think that's the year he hit a HR in the ALL Star game, lot of folks forget he was a B2B MVP in the NL 82 and 83 IIRC, can't believe they haven't put him in the Hall of Fame, I was a young'n when I watched him play.

And what was that you said about chips in the middle?...

That's for you, Gator and the rest ;)

I didn't have cable until college, had to go to friends houses to watch the Braves....I had whatever they had. I went to lots of spring training games. I'd been out on my own for a long while when the Marlins were created...and cigarette smoking knuckle ball throwin Charlie Hough threw out the first pitch.

Preach about Murph!

Dolphins thought they had a deal done w/ Chubb Jeudy / Gesicki Chase plus trade of picks…then obvs pulled the Gesicki Jeudy to make sure the deal got done.
Minn also called on Gesicki and balked at the price.

Per RapSheet
The #Dolphins sent a private plane today to Santa Clara to pick up Jeff Wilson, then the plane will stop in Denver to grab Bradley Chubb. It arrives in Miami in the wee hours of the morning. Physical tomorrow to make the trades official. ✈️

IMO Kyle Crabbs gave some nice points of view on the emergency Locked on pod.
I would love to know what this means. I can google his name

Kyle Crabbs is really good... a life long Dolphins fan who is scout guy and part of The Draft Network, took over Locked On Dolphins from Travis Wingfield.

Thank you

This is for all to read but I thought it incredible that Miami is now just $190k Under the Cap, this team has been running $50M UTC for quite a while when they stripped it to the walls in 2019, the rebuild really began in 2020 and here we are in 2022, trading our '23 1st Rd pick for an Edge that we hope will strengthen the pass rush and help us make the Playoffs.

Some of the team might not be here next year. I guess if Chubb can help get the ball out opposing QBs hands quicker and then hopefully we get Jones back at DB, i might let Kohou keep his starting spot and roll Jones to Nickel filling in for Needham and he'll still be on the field all the time. Kohou is 41st in the NFL out of 110 rated Cornerbacks, let him continue to start and let Jones work his way back to that level if he doesn't get hurt again.

I would just like to thank Jaylen Waddle, and his teammates and fans who imitate him, for making me laugh like a happy 5-year-old every weekend at the Waddle waddle. I can't find it, but the 2 drunk fans doing the waddle near the end zone while spilling beer was the best.

Better to trade our 1st while we still can, Stephen Ross just entered the building again legally
The man has already cost us a 1st and a 3rd

We also managed to trade a 5th for Jeff Wilson, this was just smart and you could feel it coming. I know Mostert is going to welcome him into the fold and I expect Wilson to see a steady diet of about 8-10+ carries a week, maybe entire drives and Mostert 12-15, really don't want to see them abuse him.

I expect some big running totals in the coming weeks. Bears traded Smith, they should be pretty ripe to run on. I don't want to look past Chicago right now.

-What if Miami can start going on longer drives that end in scores and we're talking TDs? 12 play 75 yd 6:00 drive where a lot of folks touch the football and our defense sits on the sidelines cheering. A defense rested in the 2nd Half with a lead can tee off and that's where Chubb causes a QB to rush and they make an errant pass to Howard and he takes it to the House, this defense needs to vastly improve if we are going to try and get to where you all seem to think the Dolphins could be heading.

Personally i think you all and Grier are punch drunk and delirious, Ross is barely back a week and he's literally got a printing press for money that is attached under his *** and he is just standing and sitting and Grier is just moving papers and contracts thru there as Ross sits and mints them all.

This team is in win now mode and that means the "Championship Window" has started and it usually doesn't last long, maybe '22-'23 and then the team will look a lot different so Miami is trying to close the gap right now. You don't make the move Miami did to just try and inch into the Playoffs.

Kyle Crabbs also does spots with Joe Rose… Did one this morning on WQAM talked about William Jackson amongst other things.
