2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (35 Viewers)

Miami right now is picking 27th in the 2024 NFL Draft, typically you've had a pretty good year if you are picking about 24th or later
I'm not as obtuse as I sometimes appear. But the reality is Miami has looked poor vs the better teams.
48-20 thrashing at Buffalo, 31-17 to Philly and the offense struggled to put up 1 TD in that game
21-14 to KC, seems close and yes Miami had a chance to possibly tie the game in the 4th Q, but the fact is the score was 21-0 and their offense stunk most of the game.

-Bye week
Wk 11- Las Vegas - Home game at Hard Rock, AoC and new coach have injected some life into this team.
Wk 12 - @ NYJ - They have a chance tonight to get to 5-3 vs LAC on MNF
Wk 13 - @ WAS - didn't exactly roll over yesterday for the Patriots
Wk 14 - Tennessee - Will Levis looks like an upgrade for them
Wk 15 - NYJ - Got a feeling Miami will be lucky to split these games with the Jets

11-3, 10-4 or 9-5 after this run? Then it's Playoffs vs Bal, Dal and Buff last 3 weeks.
Could the Phins steadily drift back to another 9-8 season?

Nothing gets Miami fans more upset than when the team starts to give us hope.

6-3 is nothing to sneeze at, and anyone who thinks we haven't found our "20 year coach" is likely an idiot. Wow, we have lost 3 road games to good teams who will all be in the super bowl conversation at the end of the year. How do you think they feel right now in Orchard Park? In Seattle? In San Fran? How many draft picks would the Raiders give for us to give them McDaniel?

Every team has its good moments and it's bad ones, but this Miami team so far has not lost any games they were supposed to win. Any they are getting healthy.

M McD is a work in progress as a coach, but everyone who talks to him says he is a good coach and someone who the players relate to. It is only a matter of time before this team "breaks through". Maybe that is after the bye? Who knows. All I know is no lead is safe against us.

What's McDaniel done to make you call anyone that questions him being a 20 year head coach in Miami an idiot?
I don't call the fan base names very often ad this feels like a direct punch. I'm not the only one who questions whether Mike McDaniel is as good as some of the praise that's heaped upon him byt many fans and some media.

He did go 9-9 last year, you do accept that as factual, right? Or are we idiots to even bring up his coaching record in comparing him to the last Head Coach that was run out of here for not following the owner's instructions. We have a law suit and we have punishment handed down by Roger Goodell to the owner and costing Miami a 1st and a 3rd.

Slow your roll is all I'm asking. And don't blanket name call anyone who questions McDaniel, please.
That's not healthy. We understand you are sold on McD and Tua, all good.

I am not specifically calling YOU an idiot. I am calling dolphin fans that never let things play out idiots. Same guys who went after Tua as being a wasted pick. Same guys who hated on Tannyhill. Same guys who wanted Miami to trade Marino when the phins defense couldn't stop the Bills. Good coaches learn and evolve over the years. Very few guys have "instant success" and the ones who do generally don't last (Harbaugh and Tomlin are the only exceptions). So, yeah, he has to be better in the moment. He needs to understand some of the defensive stuff as he has never been on that side of the ball. As parcells used to say "well, he has all the ingredients he needs, now make it happen".

But... Remember what a piece of crap this oline was before he got here. Same guys for the most part, better results. Remember what a piece of crap our QB was before he got here. Same guy, better results. Remember how tense this team was under Flores. How many mistakes those teams made. We still see some dumb mistakes, but most happen on the road and we have been dealing with a rash of injuries. The coaching compared to everyone we've had since Jimmy left is light years better. No players being run out on a rail like Minkah or Landry, no big egos in the locker room (with arguably some of the biggest egos in the league on the roster).

Again, what do you want your coach / team to be? Undefeated? No questions at all week to week? You are in the wrong league. Root for Georgia in that case, at least this year. Yes, the only thing I'd like to see is a bigger sense of urgency at the beginnings of games and maybe a few less pre-snap penalties. He does get out coached from time to time but he is evolving his scheme accordingly.

We, as a fan base, have what we have wanted since Danny hung em up. An offense that scares the rest of the league. A defense that can hang with some of the better offenses and make the "big stop" when needed. I'm as sick as everyone else is today about that loss, but only New England with Brady was everything "pre-ordained" and even then They didn't win it all every year.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with discussing where the team can get better. I am surely quite pleased with the team. I am a die hard fan who has seen it all since 1975.

But the lack of discipline on the road is mind numbing and it cost us this game.....no doubt.

Is McD a 20 year coach? God I hope so.......we have had nothing but a revolving door since Shula retired (ran out of town LOL).

Am I sold on Tua? I think my opinion of him has changed since McD got here.

I think he runs the offense/scheme really well.....when things are on schedule. Yesterday nothing was going well as the Chiefs took away the middle of the field a lot, we were not running the ball at all in the first half which renders all that play action and motion useless. So we can see what it looks like when defenses’ take away the middle of the field. Tua’s strengths are short and intermediate passes. He is deadly with his accuracy and the quickness in getting the ball out and making his progression reads lightning fast. His improvement over the last two seasons has been quite remarkable. His deep ball has improved dramatically as well. He has made lot’s of strides.

Can he lead us to a SB? Yeah he can......but everything has to be in sync. It’s when things go off script that I see real issues. That is a concern. The offense is built totally on precise timing and what we need to see is can we create bail out targets when things are taken away.......Achane can help that. Also more usage of the TE position can help that as well. And Ingold can also help out with a safety valve option.

We are 6-3.......but yeah we have lost to three top teams and we all want to see us beat these teams that will be post season monsters.

I would love to see us take out Buffalo and Dallas at a minimum......we never seem to play Baltimore well (except for last years insane comeback).

And also.....another observation......our OL actually played better without Armstead and Williams......go figure that.

I was thinking about this further, and at the moment we are the Dallas cowboys. Solid o, solid d, just playing also rans to the big guys in the league. Could Dallas win a super bowl, sure, but everything has to break just right, and we cannot afford injuries or screw ups. Difference being I have a lot more faith in my coach than Dallas has in theirs.

They deserve the “can’t beat good teams” moniker until they prove otherwise. Just sick of hearing it.

Thought the defense played better - hope they continue to improve.

The Tyreek fumble was killer and at least a 10 point swing. Certainly also didn’t like all the penalties and having to take time outs cause they couldn’t get the plays called in time - gave me flashbacks to last year. Last drive they pounding the rock with Mostert, have a chance to tie it up and Tua has a ball slip out of his hands to a wide open Wilson for a TD and then can’t handle the snap - both those plays on Tua.

Didn't have a chance to post in the game day thread or react yesterday. In Dallas for work and then get to watch the Cowboys crush the Giants later in the week.

Not Phinnish, but I think McDaniel is a savant and am not at all sold on Tua. Good QB, yes, probably. Franchise QB, emphatic no. I do think McD will somehow find his franchise guy in the draft or unlikely FA, if given enough time.

D held Mahomes to 14 points. 7 after the first drive, and 0 in the second half. The D is going to be the difference for us as the weather turns. It was subpar early on, but its getting healthy and comfortable in Fangio's scheme.

Everyone thinks of us an an offensive team. I think our offense is very good but not at all the historic offense that it appeared to be early on.

Its going to be a great defense and a good offense that gets us where we need to be and I think our personnel and coaching are ideal for that formula.

The main issue is really this: Can Miami score and hold up their offensive system in a matchup game that matters? The D should be good enough to keep most teams in the 20's so we have to score 28 or so to be in a good spot. When you figure the playoffs are all going to have Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, and Burrow our O will need to outpace our D against some very good players and teams, and it seems to me that we don't have a lot of margin for error vs the better teams. Bonehead mistakes and frustrating penalties will be our undoing, and we are not a "battle tested" playoff team to overcome that if it keeps happening. The key, to me will be our running game. If it is effective then the whole world opens up from there. Ahmad seems to be a drive killer; Wilson I think is still getting his legs under him.

I think the bye came at the perfect time for this team to reassess what then need to win. Those last 3/4 games this year will hopefully be the springboard to a championship run vs a continuation of Dolphin fans' frustration

These next 5 weeks they need to take advantage of, Raiders, Jets 2x, Titans, Commanders while the Bills have Jets, Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys and a bye. If the Phins can go 4-1(they should be favored every game) and the Bills go 2-2 which the way they are playing right now is no given then we are going to be sitting pretty going into a tough last three games.

Starting RG-Robert Hunt not looking likely to play this week, he suffered the hamstring injury vs KC, week to week right now
Starting LG-Robert Jones who was replacing the original starting LG-Isaiah Wynn, suffered a knee injury vs KC and also might not play.

We could be looking at Lester Cotton at RG and Liam Eichenberg at LG as Miami also is looking to sign a vet OG that they hopefully do not have to use this weekend vs the Raiders
Miami's OLine could be a problem this week with Crosby

Raiders have way more fight in them now than they did three weeks ago. Still likely won't be enough this weekend, but the Phish better put them away early. If the game is close in the 4th the Raiders have that dawg in them now that you don't want to deal with late when he's hungry.

Dolphins had a better record last year after the BYE and then went on a losing streak - now granted most of those losses were without Tua but they better clean up the penalties/delay of game on offense.

Really looking forward to seeing Mostert & Achane together again in the backfield.

My O line is always fun. Even when we assemble a good one they all get killed. Maxx is a force, but Tua just needs to get the ball out quickly. Not sure the raiders have anyone else on D that Miami has to gameplan for (Smythe likely playing the double team game all day)

picked up MIA defense because of their SOS left. I hope I don't regret it.

Assuming Achane is back, how do we think the RB touches get divvied up this week? I actually have a team with Mostert and Achane. Feel like I have to stick with Mostert this week and see how Achane looks. He could definitely burn me by busting a long run or two, but Mostert is a safer play who still has a lot of upside

Agree that Mostert is the safer bet until we see how Achane is used upon his return. Mostert is more likely to get GL carries. Plus, if the game gets out of hand, I think Wilson gets lots of action.

The LV defense played well the last 2 weeks vs the JETS and Giants. Big deal. The 2 earlier weeks both DET and CHI had big games on the ground. Start Mostert with confidence. There's an outside chance Achane sits another week.

Saw where Mostert was getting 12 carries a game with Achane in - and 12 carries when he wasn't. Virtually no difference.

A W is a W.

On a day where the offense looked off and turnovers killed them, the Defense stepped up in a big way - wow @ Ramsey.

Offense gets much too cute on short yardage 3rd & 1 / 4th & 1. Run the damn ball.
Austin Jackson is having an incredible year.

Going to MetLife for MIA @ NYJ this Friday.

Miamis skill positions are so good. Image what this would look like with a fully formed o line.

this was just one of those “flat“ weeks where Miami couldn’t run the ball as effectively as mcd wanted so hen he started getting cute and going away from it.

you have all the speed he word on that team with or without achane. Use it on jet sweeps. Use it on misdirection. Run the fn ball.

Agree guys. We got way too cute yesterday in short yardage situations. This should have been a blowout win.

Onto Black Friday.

I think missing both guards and Smythe had something to do with the run game
I remember early in the season where there were handoffs to the motion guy one yard behind the LOS. Yesterday's sweeps were all pitches. Why? I think it's because of the 2 backup guards and no Smythe. You can't run those tricky misdirection plays if there's penetration in the middle. The play calling reflected the chaos up front. We need Hunt back. Clue #1 is that McDaniel went for all those FGs. Not like him.

MetLife takeover or separately

Separately but will try to get over to the Dolphins tailgate section before the game.

Thats where all the buses park correct?
Indeed, lot 4 in the back… I’ll be there. Lemme know if you wanna meet up

Yes - all depends on how early I can get there on Friday.

I‘ll have a better idea on that either Thursday night or early Friday morning - will shoot you a PM if I can get there early enough.

Sure wish they could unlock Waddle
It’s weird bc in some ways waddle seems to have the most inconsistent hands of the group. 3 things tend to kill our drives:
1) a waddle drop
2) Ahmed being on the field (not last week thankfully)
3) McDaniel getting too cute on 3rd and short.

now, I think waddle is all world in some ways, and when hill went into the locker room he “stepped up” big time. I just dont think the offense runs through him at all. Other than the occasional bubble screen I don’t see set plays for waddle.

Painful reminder of the Dolphins 34-31 playoff loss to the Bills last year - so many Waddle drops early in that game.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, off to the West Coast-St Pete to see my son and future in-laws and family I've never met,
I would prefer to be a Miami Dolphin facing off against the Jets vs facing all these people on Thanksgiving but I gotta be thankful for having this opportunity

I already launched the game thread way back when the schedule was announced, "Black Friday" with my name under the search and it should come right up.
I'll try and bump it as well.

It would have been nice to paste the Raiders 34-13 but it was also good to see the defense shut them down.
Van Ginkel is the Jim "Crash" Jensen of the Defense and I love watching him play.

-Be good to yourselves and the people who love you.
Cheers!

Ahmed going to IR is less than helpful ... a serviceable backup who I believe won't be back this year because of the limited number of IRReturns available.

Chris Brooks is a possible candidate to use an IRR on

Phillips is believed to have suffered an Achilles injury
Metlife claims one of the all time greats at QB in Week 1
It takes out one of the very best Miami defenders that gives us an edge others don't in Week 12 on Black Friday

Godspeed Jaelan, take your time
- '21, '22, now '23 and will need to rehab going into '24, #16 overall pick, Miami picks up the 5th Year option to see him all the way back or work some type of trade for him to pay for Tua...

Speaking of Tua...nice Pick-6 and does anyone understand how lucky Coach McD is that Holland is his Safety and can return a Hail Mary for a TD on Defense?
-Wonderboy today should have kicked a FG opening drive and been nursing a 13-0 lead when he instructed Tua to throw at will and toss a Pick-6 from well inside Miami territory
RIDICULOUS!!!

Mostert 22 carries last week
20 carries this week for 94 yds, HUGE TD to start the 4th Q and extend the lead to 27-6, that was only the 2nd offensive TD of the day
Mostert would run it in again in the 4th Q from about 35 yds out,.

Wilson was decent in relief 11/56, Mostert was quiet 1st Half but dedication to running the ball and Tua interceptions/turnovers helped tipped the scales today
Mostert gets my game ball this week

Losing Phillips is a massive blow.

Signing Mike White so the Jets are left with this crapshow at QB is some next level thinking.
Huge loss. Oghbah did well in relief. Seems like alot of Achilles injuries this year, starting with Rodgers on the same field.

>>Absolutely devastated, but I feel strength in knowing that this is all a part of God’s plan, and that I have an incredible team and support system around me. I’ll be back stronger than ever
