2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-4, Currently hold the #4 pick in the draft. (4 Viewers)

If they are going to fire McDaniel, they should fire everyone on the coaching staff the same day
Start taking applications from the people who help park cars out in the parking lot on Sundays, maybe even the concession stands along the walkways around Hard Rock
If you can't throw games behind the scenes Stephen Ross, just do it out in the open and say you want to give an average man a chance in this World
The fans will understand, believe me and Roger Goodell can't come after you for hiring anyone you want to coach the team the rest of the year.

Be Bold!

Tua Tags can no longer be discussed as the Miami Dolphins' Franchise Quarterback, those days or discussions must be over.
Barry Jackson wrote "7TDs and 7 Interceptions final 5 minutes of football games and Tua sinks to a 70s passer rating"
That's awful and tells more of the story of Tua

We are in Year 1 of the Tua extension so again he's here to stay right now, not a darn thing that can be done
$99.2M in dead cap 2026
After 2026, $32M dead cap spread over a couple years, manageable.
McDaniel will be fired end of the season, Grier who knows?

Mike McDaniel vs teams with a losing record
25-12

Mike McDaniel vs teams with a winning record
3-14

He'll cook his own goose, just leave him be right now. We got the right guy to lead us into double digit losses this season, don;'t stop the train

This is actually ok. Let's say we manage a top 3 pick this year, you fire Grier and McDaniel and bring in a whole new cast. One they identify someone worth taking in the top three as a QB, I personally don't think there is this year but maybe they do. If so i doubt it is anyone you are going to want to start right away so you let Tua roll out there and take the abuse until he breaks or you feel the rookie is ready the back half of the year. Then 2027 you cut Tua and take your lumps but they are manageable. Option two if no QB is worth a top 3 pick in the new groups eyes, you've got two tackles rated in the top 5 if Mauigoa and Procter come out, take one and start the rebuild with a stud OT and let Tua flounder another year and get you a high draft pick for 2027 which I think projects as a better QB draft, especially if Manning develops. Option 3 trade back, accumulate ammo for 2027 draft to go after Manning if you think he projects out that well.

Paul, Savaiiinaea, and Borum had 3 of the worst PFF ratings of the night
Offensive line grades poorly but I feel like Tua had enough time to deliver his throws
The OL seems to be able to keep Achane moving right now

Waddle somehow had one of the higher scores, I hardly saw him do anything after Tyreek Hill left the game
We pay Waddle WR1 money, he should be able to still stretch the field and if he cannot, then we need to get him out of here as well and start over at WR
I hope Waddle is ready to answer the call, Miami needs him to be a leader right now

Waddle isn’t going anywhere unless Miami burns it down in the off season. He's 12th in WR salary, his cap # is 8, 11, then 33 mil in 2027, when they would need to restructure. Better to keep him even during a rebuild.

On the TD drive in the 3rd quarter after Hill was injured, Waddle had 3 targets, a DPI, and 16 and 7 yard receptions, 3 first downs. On the last 4 drives, Waddle had no targets. He's not Jefferson or Chase good, but he can stretch the defense opening it up for the run game and the TEs - even Julian Hill has become more involved the last 2 weeks. He's a good separator for getting first downs. I agree, the next 13 games will tell us how good Waddle is - can he be a leader on the field. Tyreek will be gone for good next June.

We may only be favored in 2 of the next 13 games, @CAR this week and home vs NO in 7 weeks. I have mixed feelings about the benefit of losing vs winning. We're not going anywhere this year.

Sometimes even when you win, you lose. We now sit behind the Jets, Titans and Saints in the race for the #1 pick. The good news is we play the Jets in NY yet and we play the Saints. The bad news with Carolina and Cleveland in two of the next three we could get to 3 wins and take ourselves completely out of the hunt for the top pick.

Jets can't rush the passer. Whenever we have a matchup where the D can't bring heat, Miami should have time to operate their offense.

Beating the Jets in a down year is the only thing I care about. If we go 2-15 and our only 2 wins are against NY I'm fine. If we go 1-16 and the only game we won was monday I'm good with that too.

On to the state of the Phins:

Sheesh. What a mess. An O line that cannot block and a D line that for some reason they are being too cute with. With the talent we have on the D line we should be able to get there with 4 and we should never have to blitz with more than one extra person.

McDaniel hitched his wagon to Tua and much like all the other Coaches we have had who hitch their wagons to flawed qbs, they will likely be better the next HC go round. (I could swear Aaron Glenn was telling McDanie post gamel he has a job as the jets OC if the phins fire him).

Weaver is no better. Their scheme makes no sense. You run cover zero vs Wilson TWICE! on that last drive? Once I get, because it was a surprise, but AGAIN?????

So Gatorman's wish list:
1) DO NOT FIRE MCDANIEL UNTIL AT LEAST AFTER THE SEASON: I like him, but he lost the locker room. Moreover, I do not want someone like Weaver becoming HC and then we get to 5-12 bc the players play harder after a coach is fired.
2) Please draft a Jayden Daniels and not a Caleb Williams.
3) I still prefer an Offensive HC.
4) Grier needs to go, but will Ross finally replace both at the same time?

The team is unlikely to tank
I agree with @Gatorman that you might as well let McDaniel coach out most of the season, I don't really want to see him fired and an intern comes in for half a season, no thanks
The team has struggled and went thru a catastrophic injury this week, still managed to win a game, the players need Coach MM right now to try and navigate some of these obstacles

The Chargers are down both starting OL Tackles right now, we face them after Carolina, might be more competitive than some would think

I've got no mixed feelings any longer. Tank job is the way. Are there any good QBs coming out next year?

Yeah, maybe they will win by 10 instead of 30.

Lots of good Qbs, but you have to hope we get a Daniels and not a williams (or for those who like to beat a dead horse a Herbert instead of a Tua).

There are 4-5 good Qbs that come out every year (this year notwithstanding), but, and lets face it, Miami still has Tua on the books as well as not a ton of draft picks this cycle

So then it turns into the two best ways to win:

QB on a cheap contract or
Journeyman QB and load up everywhere else but most importantly get more draft picks.

With Miami's cap issues 2026 is likely a dead year too, unless we decide to get a QB and an O line guru. Lots of good Qbs coming up in this draft and even better in 2026.

With what Tyreek, Armstead, and Ramsey's cap hits are going to be in 2026 with Tua also on the books for a lot of money, this is back to the wilderness for us.

Now, we should not be favored in any remaining games. Tua isn’t the biggest problem, neither is coach McDaniel. It's GM Grier who started focusing on shiny toys, instead of the trenches, a few years ago. And now his recent picks in the trenches, aside from LT Paul last year, have been failures. His tradeups for Liam, Wright, and Jonah Savaiinaea lost us valuable draft picks, Grier acted like we were 1 or 2 picks away from success. Ross tampering also cost us a 1st and a 3rd.

>>Pains me to write, because K. Grant/Jonah S. are nice young men, good college players & trying to improve. But PFF rates them the worst players in the league at their position (118th, 76th). Difficult to overstate how damaging it is for your top 2 picks to be this ineffective.<<

Might be little too late, but feel like I'm finally seeing McDaniel grow/adapt a bit.

Omar and Joe Rose were talking this morning, Omar thinks they should stop playing Grant all together, he's allowing something like 5.5-6 yds a rush, teams are running over him
Jonah at Guard is a little different, he fails on 5-7 plays a game but those failures are drive killers.

2025 terrible draft so far for Grier, stunning

I'll start with the 3rd Q yesterday, Miami went up 13-9 into Halftime and they proceed to lay an egg in the 3rd Q
Coming out flat like they did, that's a direct line to coaching so if you want something to get fired up about and get on the clean house train, that was a prime example
Negative 6 yards of offense in the 3rd Q, coming out of Halftime up 13-9, I can't express my disbelief in their performance during the 3rd Q yesterday.

I would start there and work your way out, there were some good things early and they did mange to come back in the 4th Q before the final outcome
They let the Chargers start on their own 40 yd line, that was going to be a FG try all the way and the Bolts did it.

-Tua Tags is holding the offense back at this point, 3 interceptions, 50 QB rating yesterday, Tua cannot be trusted and he is now 6-18 vs teams with winning records
6 wins and 18 losses vs teams with winning records, he's an NFL loser and eats up way too much cap space for what we're getting
Not much Miami can do right now but whenever they can part ways, they need to do so and I don't even think they will find a team that will send them a draft pick for Tua
The problem is they are in deep still thru '26 so that creates a dark cloud over any potential new GM and Head Coach

Tua had a great throw on the 1st interception that went right thru Waddle's hands and into the hands of the Chargers' DB,
As bad as that play was, 6/95 on the day, he made a terrific adjustment on a ball that was tipped by the DB
Waddle does seem more like a building block than someone we want to run out of here
Achane 16/128/2 TD on the ground, he's electric when they can get him a little crease to run thru, so fast

Everyone needs to go but Waddle and Achane at the moment
Still see no real benefit of walking McD out the door right now, Grier needs to go at the same time

Gotta clean out that coaching staff. Start there. He is just not head coach material.

They look like a total rebuild at this point.

OK but what good does it do in the middle of the season to a guy that did make the Playoffs twice in his past 3 seasons despite it being obvious he is not made to be a head coach
Players and other coaches laugh at him, we get it but they made a commitment to him for 2025 and the players on this team right now
I wouldn't just fire him, it's not fair to the players and they are competing, this is not the same as Week 1 vs the Colts, they were up 27-26 with 45 seconds left...
They can lose 13 games by 1 score, that's fine, seems fixable with a new coach, maybe we can salvage some of the pieces here
QB, not so much but I don't think Miami should be trading a lot of players until they get a new General Manager in here

They've had multiple 1st round picks a few times and it has not amounted to much, I'd like someone other than Grier making those decisions
Grier has been with Miami over 2 decades, almost 10 years as the GM in charge around there, Ross doesn't make quick decisions on his staff

Waddle does seem more like a building block than someone we want to run out of here
Glad you guys are coming back to Waddle. The injuries/how often he gets hurt is really the only knock on him in my book. He's proven you can use him all over the field. He's been my favorite for a while on this squad...especially since AVG left.

1. NY Jets 0-6
2. Cleveland 1-5
3. Baltimore 1-5
4. Miami 1-5

Phins play the Browns this week on the road, they also face Baltimore at home on TNF Oct 30th
They play the Jets one more time, they probably won't be bad enough to snag the No 1 pick but they certainly could be in the Top3 at this rate

at Browns W?L?
at Falcons L
BALTIMORE L...assuming LJ is back for the Ravens
BUFFALO L
WASHINGTON L
Bye WEEK...2-9/1-10? This is when I think they will show Mike McDaniel the door, when they are officially OUT with 6-7 games left,

It doesn't do any real good, but there is not much "good" to be had at 1-5. I can't imagine what this week will be like for MIA after Tua's comments. He basically threw the organization under the bus. He's the one that put a target on the Head Coach. That's destructive. Guys are going to be asking for trades, asking who is really running the show, going into self-preservation mode. It may get a lot uglier if they don't fire the head coach.

How did back up back up Offensive Tackles for the Chargers manage to hold the Miami Edge rushers and DL to just 1 sack yesterday?
Phillips might be at double digits for missed sacks on the season, he gets close, maybe someone would like to trade for him
5th year with a couple of them cut short, not sure what he's worth on the open market, still might need to sign a 1 yr prove it deal elsewhere

Waddle rumors do not sound very good
This organization traded Wes Welker once to the Patriots for like a 2nd and a 5th/6th, at that moment it felt like Miami was getting one over on them

What would Miami get in a trade? 1st and a 3rd, I doubt it
Miami traded down and then burned a 1st to move back up to take Waddle

Why is Grier allowed to make moves for a team he won't be running next year...or is he being kept in place? That would be kinda sad to have him take charge of another rebuild

Very unlikely Grier would be in charge of another rebuild. They've had more than their share of injuries, but the roster construction has been bad. They relied on trades for older expensive players - Tyreek worked out for 2 years - the others were not worth the combined draft capital and cap hits.

Barry Jackson, 35-year Miami Herald respected veteran, who does an amazing job covering baseball, basketball, and football, has been reluctant to blame Grier until recently. Now, it's an assault. Last year, he recommended that Tua be extended year by year due to injury concerns and lack of winning versus good teams. It's in his 2024 Herald articles and podcasts with Omar Kelly. He was right. But, he didn’t rub it in when Tua got hurt last year. In 2025, he's mentioned it several times. He also cites poor roster construction, bad tradeups in the draft - we've mentioned those multiple times in these threads - Liam, Wright, Jonah.

His criticism of Grier peaked last week with this article: A plea to Dolphins’ Ross to be proactive: How he must change and what he must do

>>Here would be our suggestion to Ross: Find the smartest unemployed football man available and ask both him and president Tom Garfinkel to do the leg work to compile a list of the best young front office executives in football, presenting Ross with qualified options to take over the Dolphins’ front office.

There’s no need to conceal this from Grier; he understands how the business works and he should know he’s on borrowed time. If Grier doesn’t like it, he can quit. If Grier is OK with Ross authorizing research on a GM successor, he can stick around until he’s replaced.<<

Not me. Absolutely soft and always manages to drops key balls in key moments. Overpaid and I would trade him and that extension if I had a chance. Achane is the only true play maker we have left. Waddle is nothing more than a second tier soft, over paid WR.

How many sacks did Herbert shake off? Two. And he won the game for the Chargers doing so. That's what a 6'6 strong, mobile QB with a cannon can do vs a 5'11 unmobile, noodle arm turd that we have.

I am gonna beat that dead horse till this entire franchise is burned to the cinder blocks. This team is a POS, Owner a POS, front office a POS, coach a POS, OL a POS, QB a POS, CULTURE IS A POS.

This franchise is a caricature of what I grew up with in the 70's, 80's and 90's. An absolute joke. Undeniable too.

Hard to not agree with you across the board here.

It's painful to try and stay a loyal fan
