2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Schedule leak: Eagles to host TNF game week 1 vs either an NFC or AFC opponent. (7 Viewers)

5 different teams in 5 years for someone as talented as him raises a ton of red flags
That speaks for itself and I'm guessing it's the biggest reason why you guys traded him. He wears out his welcome and did the same here in Detroit.

If that was the case, why did the Eagles re-sign him after letting him go. They wanted him back in 2023, but he wanted more money, by the time he lowered his asking price the Eagles already used his cap space on Bradberry.

BC Sydney Brown tore his ACL post week 18 last year?? Didn't that happen?

No one knew who CJ Gardner Johnson was until the Eagles traded for him.
No one knew who Zack Baun was and now he's the best MLB in football.
No one knew Jeff Stoutland could literally turn water into wine with Jordan Mailata
No one knew Q and Coop would be the highest graded man cover corners in the league year 1.

Just want to throw these out there bc there are FOR SURE more moves to be made where we go "who/what" and then it turns into "oh wow"

We are all hyped and pissed right now.

30 days off our 2nd Lombardi Trophy.

There *IS* a plan. We just are not privy to it.

If Jeff Stoutland can turn water into wine, why isn't Tyler Steen a pro-bowl guard by now?
Cmon man. Why didn't Andre Dillard work out also? Seems a bit of a blistering hot take "Unless he develops every offensive lineman into a top 10 guy..." feel from this one

You're the one who said equated Stoutland to Jesus. Maybe, Stoutland can work with talented guys and less talented guys fall by the wayside. Just because he developed Mailata doesn't mean he can develop anybody. You made the statement, no me.

So because Sydney Brown tore his ACL at the end of the 2023 season the Eagles wanted to re-sign CJGJ at the beginning of the 2023 season?

Aight man. No coach has a 100% hit rate on developing players in the NFL.

I'll be on the side of trusting Jeff Stoutland.

You can be on the side of doubting him.

I'm good lol.

Because some players take time? Issac Seamolu comes to mind. Mailata as well etc. expecting it instantly is a little silly, right?

CJGJ had to be stirring **** up that we haven’t heard about. Yet. He is one of those dudes that has the troubled character of a TO, talented, but a wildcar with a tough personality to keep focused.

Otherwise, this move makes ZERO sense. He had a huge impact on the D, bringing toughness, swagger and good (not great) play at S. Sydney Brown is not ready to take that jump, and getting some scrub OG in return and some late round picks next year and the year after? They aren’t even saving anything cap-wise.

I do not like this move.
Like $500k this year not sure about following year.

yeah it sucks but hey lets find somebody better. you are acting like hes all world or something. trust howie.
I’m not acting like he is all-world- I even said “good (not great) play at S”. But the move makes a hole on the roster, and doesn’t get us anything in return. Unless Vic sees something in Sydney Brown, or has some plan to move Coop to Safety (I don’t like that, either) they have to spend draft capital or more cap soace signing a FA.

I trust there was a reason for the trade. And I don’t think it means we fall off a cliff. But this strikes me as a discipline/culture move, rather than a pure football move.
Had we done this yesterday and Signed Trevor Moehring I’d have been fine with this

How about Justin Reid?
Could be good but he’s gonna be 29 I believe and Howie mentioned wanting to play young Guys

CJ GARDNER JOHNSON TRADED TO TEXANS WTF
I hate this
LIVID
He definitely added some toughness that was lacking in 2023. But they filled a hole at guard and saved some $. I'll hold off on judging until I see how they use the savings.

I knew who he was before he came here since he went to Florida. Most if you paid attention to combine draft pre draft would’ve known he was one of their 30 pre draft visits. I also probably mentioned him 10-15 times here leading up to the draft.

I also knew who Baun was and when we signed him I even said something it’s gonna be a good underrated signing.

Slay already retweeting takes "Slay was right"

So MAYBE, just maybe, the FO and coaches saw these 2 vets going at it and said "We can't let this affect our young guys, they are too pure"
Kind of what I started to think. Let them both go. I think if Slay was some #2 CB or whatever after the pod he’d have been traded or released in season but because of his name he got to stay. If that was Tristen McCollum or Andre Sam they’re done right then and there.

Lane Johnson tweeting "Howie SZN" right after this makes me believe

CJ might not have been as loved in the locker room as we might think
Lane knows some s*** is coming down the pipeline
It has to be this.

Vic doesnt let a "playmaker" go on a deal like this. Im sure Vic was given the opportunity to make a case to keep CJ. I have to believe NickS looked to Vic for his opinion and Vic OK'd it. This is all that makes sense.

When the Eagles traded for CJGJ my buddy who is a Saints STH texted me and told me and I quote, "Y'all got a freaking steal today. We got robbed - y'all really got a f'ing steal."

Exactly. Right now the deal is not a favorite of mine, however, if he gives you Becton type of performance it lessons the blow a ton. It’ moves into a plus trade if we nail the pick and replace CJ. Gotta see how the rest of the chips fall
“If” is doing some world class lifting in this paragraph.

To be fair, if the "if" takes world class lifting, then Howie is the reigning World Strongest Man.

This too. CJ would’ve resigned if his agent wasn’t being an idiot and read the market correctly. By the time CJ said screw this I’m taking the Eagles deal, Howie had moved on. Then Briwn got hurt and tore his ACl pretty badly I might add to where talk was he could miss all of this past season. CJ became available again, both wanted a reunion and it made Sense. I’d prefer and Brown CJ safety combo with Reed coming in as a 3rd Safety or switching Brown/Reed depending on match ups.

.
They've won two Super Bowls and been to a third in the past 8 years. At this point, I think the FO deserves some grace in regards to making decisions. WIP is the worst. That Chicken Little guy with Hugh has been unsufferable for the past couple of weeks.

turn it off
asking for grace from the Philly sports talk radio stations is like asking my dog to do long division.

Cmon son.

Yeah I wouldn’t pay attention to this Doug guy. CJ must’ve slept with his girl or something. I wasn’t just ecstatic because CJ is a former Gator but he’s a good Safety who you want on your team but love to hate when he’s not.

I actually got a Text from Dino Vasso’s mom (we worked together before she retired) and Dino is now Houston’s DB coach saying how ecstatic he is for having CJ there. They wanted to give that secondary more toughness.

Also, we picked up Lewis Cine like way late last year.

Lot of smoke and obvious tell tale signs here, but nothing concrete on the "why"

Gotta be contract + attitude.

We move on
I was thinking a bit about this too. My guess is some of the reason is with Slay gone, CJGJ is the elder statesman. I don't think he would want to follow Blankenship, nor would he be hapy if he doesn't get the captain treatment like Slay got.

You’re on a fantasy football message board. Think about it for a second.

Yeah so going deep here but if you are on socials, X Eagles Content guy Lord Brunson, who has a relationship with CJ, said "It had to be done, trust me" over and over.

Not sure WHAT that means, but sure as s*** sounds like an untenable situation (Maybe Vic said nah after 1 year?)

In other news FB anyone? Kyle Juszcek was just released and wouldn’t count against comp picks. I know Moore used one but not sure if KP will.

CJ put out on his tiktok how it all played out. He seems at peace, basically said Howie called him early this AM, woke him up and "The Young Guys gotta get paid" He mentions Carter and Reed specifically first, then "Zack" who ya know, just got paid.

Anyway, is what it is, still in shock. But its starting to settle in some.

Maybe we has not as revered in the locker room and by coaching as we thought? Slay was quick to rub it in, and Lane instead of "Thanks for the memories" or similar was just "Howie SZN"
At least a big move/semi big move to be made
Lewis Cine/Sydney Brown are definitely in play, but Justin Simmons said literally TODAY on some podcast, he's interested in Philly.
Sounds like the former Houston OL coach was a fool, so hopefully Stoutland can school him up quick
Becton no chance is coming back. We have Becton 2025 on the roster now.

Lane tweets that on every pretty big move by Howie. I don’t think I’d read much into that tweet. Slay can’t seem to hold himself accountable. We need to stop the revisionist history with Slay. Outside last part of this season he’s been pretty bad since the team collapsed. When he got toasted in the Dallas game after he was putting up a highlight video and earlier this year after getting burnt he posted his individual achievements. Let’s not forget going on an opposing players pod (who’s player own fans and some in the org question how serious he is on football or some hot takes on his team) and throwing teammates under the bus.

Slay needs to look in the mirror before calling others out. He’s the pot meet kettle type

Meh. Not that concerned in the grand scheme of things but it did catch me off guard. I was fine with whatever they were doing this off-season. I can't lie and say getting rid of CJGJ is obviously a good move though. I assume they have a plan.
Yep. You can’t say it’s good or even bad……yet. I love him as a player. I think guys like him add a ton in ways that can’t be measured. Even with that said, 5 teams in 5 years is jaw dropping. Let’s see what else we do.

@Snotbubbles no Justin Reid

Source: Former Chiefs safety Justin Reid reached agreement today with the Saints on a three-year, $31.5 million deal, including $22.25 million fully guaranteed. Reid is returning home to Louisiana.

Maybe they’re tired of things like his idiotic shirt on parade day. If so, good on them

Yeah I’m just saying Slay doesn’t have room to really talk. If slay played well last two yrs and was handling business like a pro we can talk. For someone who calls themselves a leader he did the total opposite.

I've always liked Sidney Brown. Plays fast and hits hard. I don't think the starting secondary takes a big hit here, but the depth sure does. Hopefully they can restock the shelves.

My guess is this was about $ and the locker room. The core of the defense is Carter, Q, Dejean. Maybe smith and nakobe. No more BG or Cox...need to let the young guys step up and lead rather than follow a clown like CJ.
