Awesome. Well I sacrificed the pawn to develop my white square bishop. Opponent is a 1388 player so let's see how this goes.

I'm actually wrong here.

I think it's still unclear what it's officially called. Scandinavian that could transpose into a Caro, I guess.

I've never seen that response but I think taking the pawn is correct. Don't listen to me.

Kb5 next move would be strong if he allows it (since he's only rated 1284, I'd probly not try it vs Pickles, SBob or Tim)

kutta about to crush me at the end here. He was very forgiving, however, when at the outset of the game I tried to castle using my Queen (Not my fault, the stupid pieces on this app are confusing, and it's been a while since I played....). kutta let me run it back and take back the move.

Kutta defeats Otis in round 1. Even after trying to Queen castle and dropping a piece early, Otis fought back hard and had me on the ropes a bit. It was a fun game. And I had the added benefit of meeting Oats in person and having coffee with him in NY this morning
