4th annual FBG chess tourney- Congrats to Kasparov! 1st place (1 Viewer)

thanks. Guess I made less mistakes than I thought.
No problem - looked like a snowball rolling downhill. He also let you play the Scandi which is a line you know well. When you get the advantage out of the opening, a player of your caliber, can run away quickly with the rest. I liked the king side attack. It's not very tim-like, but it worked well.

(this is why I try not to let you play your openings, and most of the time it leads to me losing anyway  )

Although, I guess I'd add, it was only a traditional Scandi for about 3 moves :)

I think they are going to have to invent a category a step or two beyond "blunder" when my game is analyzed.
Do you guys find the tool useful or would it help with some explanation behind the mistakes and blunders? I can try adding my own annotation to those moves, but can't always promise I'll be accurate.
I think it's pretty awesome just as is. Just a general note that I don't think I'm doing all that well so far (pretty rusty). Juxt hasn't crushed me yet, but it may be coming pretty soon here.

That would be great.

Wish I knew what the hell everything meant. LOL. I understand the graph. And I was actually winning at one point and made a horrible move which strayed from my game plan of attack, attack, attack.

Sorry about that! Thought I was waiting on you, app never gave me a notification that the game began. We are underway, I will play back quickly.

http://en.lichess.org/BmWaqJ9l#0for McGarn vs AA

Since Aerial Assault played mistake free for McGarn - rolling your king side pawns when almost all of your pieces were on the queen side was probably a bad idea. You're on the Queen side with your queen and rook, you might as well keep attacking on the queen side.

If you wanted to roll those pawns, probably best to consolidate to the king side first so you have something to back them up with. By the time you successfully did, so it was already lost.

Kasparov beat joffer, well played by him

Not my best effort. Neglected my king's safety way too long.

I thought you played well! Very sharp opening variation, sharp middle game with imbalance in material (I had some compensation). King safety was a concern for both of us, like who would blink first. In 37 moves, your Ng1 never moved! An oddity, I've never seen that.

dancingbones 1-0 vs Nero

Nero castled into some trouble & I was able to wreak some havoc with my knights. Will post game when I can.

thanks. I knew 12. b4 was a mistake.
I'd also say, you moved your bishop 3 times in the first 5 moves. That's not great for business.

Not a reply to the Scandinavian opening I've see often. Usually white wants to play Nc3, Nf3 and the bishop out to c4

I moved my Bishop 3 times early too for that matter. The Bb5+ variation of the Modern Scand is an attempt to hang on to the the pawn and by forcing Bd7, cause some lack of coordination amongst black's pieces (i.e. the Nb8 has nowhere to go atm). As with most variations with 2. ..Nf6, its best for white to give back the pawn at some point to gain a lead in development.

ASFAIK, I know, the 5. ...a5 variation of the modern doesn't have the best reputation. Nice to see you made it work though. Interesting game

Heres a similar game I found in chess base - the highest rated win for black from 1992 (2 GMs Ive never heard of)

dancingbones v Nero
Nice game DB.

Depending on my opponent I like to go for the cheap QGA trap if you were going to play e3 anyway, especially since he responded with b5.

I assume you know it, but it's here - I dont know nero's skill level, but it's surprising the amount of 1500 and below players that do anything to hold that pawn

Here it is

Pretty well known and cheap, but if you're going to play e3, I like to play it a move before Nf3 just in case :)

I'm sick this weekend and around on lichess for a game from someone.

I'm sick of the Chess app :)
I sent you mine yesterday. Check your email.
Having trouble with your PGN. Will mess with it tonight but lichess doesnt like the format
Well that's odd. Forwarded straight from the app. I never fooled with it and my android analyzer liked it. I do want to see what my mistakes were so let me know how to get it right.

I just sent him the game from my iPad.

OK, I'm going to give Eminence and Otis a few hours here to let me know what's going on. Otherwise, we're going to move on to round 4 without them...

I volunteer to be out. I'm barely paying attention in my games. Too much going on at the moment.

Thx.

Haven't seen that one. Good to know, and thanks.
