I disagree on Morrow. If he would have caught that INT that slipped through his hands, the write up would have been completely different. Morrow is one of the few LBs in the past few years that's even shown some semblance of athleticism. While he might not be a starter on the better teams in the NFL, I think he would be rostered by most.

Looking athletic on our squad of complete bums for LBs for the last few years isn't a huge feat.

It's hyperbole, I know, but he looks lost out there sometimes. Watching tape of the game, he's out position numerous times in coverage, and overcommits way too much, and misses tackles.

He's fairly inconsistent, and not that great when he does perform, and was responsible for a bunch of penalties.

I'm just not seeing it. The problem is it's not like we have tons of quality guys past Littleton and Kwiatkowski. Our D -- and Ds in general -- don't need tons of LBs with so much nickel D, but at this point with Kwiat ailing he's unfortunately the most experienced guy we got.

For some reason, the Raiders cannot have a great LB Corp.    ever.

Haha! I'd have to go back to 1976 champs and tab Hendricks/Hall/Johnson as very good. But even then they were no Lambert/Ham/Russell. Hendricks/Millen/Martin from 1980 champs pretty good too. After that... 😶

Technically, you are correct that the Raiders have had a great LB Corp.   it’s been wayyyyyyyyyy to long though and it’s a shame that they team cannot hit on some LB talent.

Do you guys see Booker as a good handcuff or would it be a mess of a RBBC? Hope this O keeps rolling this year.
It's slightly too early to tell, but Booker looked surprisingly solid, and I have to think at this point he's the main ball carrier if Jacobs is out. How much Richard is utilized on 3rd/passing downs is still a question.

Couple of call outs:

1) Hankmoody for the thread title change.  :lmao:

2) Denzelle Good -- we saw him be really solid last year, but when Trent went out (after only three snaps), then Sam Young went out 15 plays later, Good held the line and kept Carr clean -- zero sacks and played a rock solid right tackle. AND HE'S OUR SWING GUARD.

I don't know how many times Good has filled in at the spot -- or if he has at all -- but that's impressive. Let's hope he can keep it up as looks like Trent and Young are out again.

A couple of concerns:

1) What is up with Trent? Nagging calf that kept him out all preseason, goes out after 3 snaps, whispers that he's not happy even though we made him the highest paid OL in the NFL. Is this simply an injury thing or do we think there is more going on here under the surface? What the hell does he have to be so miserable out? Is it only because we made him RT instead of LT? That was a year ago. Cmon, Trent -- heal up and man up.

2) Denzelle Good is up again this week as both Brown and Young look to be out. Let's hope he can keep it up. But he has to handle Cameron Jordan.

🤣 I guess the next step is "Jacobs is "great" but he isn't HOF and he might get hurt" for sure. 🤣

Someone posted this in the game thread....

Allegiant Stadium is basically Al's Giant Stadium.

LOVED THIS. Maybe even more than tonight's win.

Wow...  Seems I need to eat copious amounts of crow here.

I was wrong about the Saints game at the very minimum.  The Raiders looked great tonight. The line just mauling.

The line was playing with a 3rd string back up rookie G and our swing G at RT after losing Brown, Incognito and Sam Young.

The D was missing Kwiat and I am telling you, he is a key for our D.

Ruggs looked slowed a tad from his injury.

Jacobs: more yards in his first 15 games than Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson.

Raider Faithful, we should let fact amd performance stand for themselves. Haters going to hate, pot-stirrers are going to stir - no need to feed them as they continue to make themselves look foolish.

This team is legit, and it's coming together.

Carr was amazing.

Waller and Jacobs were unstoppable.

Ruggs contributes just with speed alone - not a big statistical night but clearly got a step or two on defenders- he needs to be respected, and his speed drew that holding that put us in position for a Carlson chip shot. ;)

Carlson was huge.

The D was bend but not break - lots to be improved but Crosby and Ferrell are super solid bookends and Abram is a missile.

We played next man up and guys held their own.

Massive win, so great to christen the new stadium.

Rest up, heal up,  and let's be ready to take on the Pats on the road.

ETA: just wish the fans were there for this one. Good that they weren't all things considered, but man that would have been sweet.

Abrams hit into the stupid cart WAY too close to the field scared the living poo out of me.

At first, it was like WHAT HAPPENED? DID HE DIE?!

Then on replay (my own) I was like oh crap.... that is his shoulder and I was trying to remember which side his injury last season was on before they came back and he popped up all Rod Tidwell like (props to whoever said that in the game thread.... totally nailed it)

Derek Carr deserves some serious credit.

If Rich Gannon was out there, he would not have pushed the Saints deep.  He would have just kept killing them for 5-13 yards...

It's hard for to compliment the Raiders but I have to eat my words on Carr

That was exactly the type of game I never thought he could win all offseason long

Truth be told an hour before the game I had a gut feeling on an upset and nearly bet on it but then remembered Derek Carr was the Raiders QB

In my admittedly biased view the division will still be out of reach but the Raiders look to be in a solid position for a wild card berth with Denver's team dead and the Browns being the Clowns

i am totally flabbergasted!!!!

#### yeah!!!!

the offense kicked ### tonight!!  but to me, the defense was the star of the game.  arnette made some plays after getting the hook.  3rd down D was really good.

so happy to eat crow!!!  this was a for sure loss, when i looked at the schedule.  pissed that covid prevented me from being there.   but, whatevs.

RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIDDDDEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree Ruggs has changed the offense.  Nobody was scared of Zay Jones running wild last year...Ruggs has opened up the defense every time he is out there.

KC will be damn hard to beat for a bit but we got a hella young team building something good here.

On to New England. Oline was very impressive. They need to get Trent Brown back on the field to handle the Broncos and Chargers DEs.

Crosby was the disruptive force the defense has been missing since Mack’s departure.

Funny thing about winning games like tonight, is it gets players like Trent Brown back in the fold. Eff that guy, but I'll still take him back this season to earn some of that $21 millie. Need a new RT next year tho.

There seems to be something going on there.

After this season we can cut him without any dead money.

One theory is that he is fishing for a release because his money is going from about $21MM to about $14MM and he can get another big payday. It would make more sense for him to ball out and then hold out next seaaon etc.

Another is for whatever reason he isn't getting along. There was a couple of pics of him being seperate from the whole team during national anthem when all players were linked arms EXCEPT him and in celebration after the game as he held back when everyone else put their arms in for the end game cheer.

Another is that he is just damn lazy and doesn't want to play.

I suspect it is a mix of all of the above. It sucks because with him at RT he is worth that paycheck and really makes our Oline dangerous to opposing defenses. Without him, we have played well still and Good is playing damn good for a G at RT but we just won't be elite with the line with him being out of position.

Can we just appreciate how incredibly ballsy Gruden was in this game?

His overall playcalling was stellar - the Ingold TD was a great example of the perfect scheme.

But he was dialling up deep shots and being aggressive on going for it on 4th down.

And to kick the FG near midfield to try and ice the game? Shows incredible faith in your K, and live the go-for-broke, play-to-win-the-game attitude.

This is the kind of win that can help this team truly forge their identity and cohesiveness.

It's a long season, and we have tons to prove yet. But seeing the potential of this team actually play out on the field is joyous.

Totally agree.  That was the best play calling by Gruden that I have seen.   If Ruggs can get healthy and Edwards can develop by mid season, the O will be a real force.

Jacobs is a top 5 RB in the NFL.   What he lacks in top end speed, he makes up with power, and ability to make people miss in tight spaces.   He isn’t Zeke but he is just a step below and that’s plenty.

That was a big, big win and the perfect way to open up Al’s stadium.

I think this may come down to opposing D shutting down TE and RB stuff. We may find out next week

I gotta give Gruden most of the credit for this win. The offensive gameplan was almost flawless. Being creative, methodical and draining the clock on almost every drive was really the only way a young team like the Raiders can beat a team like the Saints. Keeping Brees on the bench keeps the Raiders' suspect defense off the field. While it was a great win, that D still needs a lot of work. Not one sack last night! I understand Crosby is being disruptive, but one sack in two games is unacceptable and will start to haunt them if they don't start getting more pressure up front.

Abram is looking like he'll become an All-Pro safety while Harris really looks like he's struggling out there. Arnette is NOT afraid to make a tackle and Mullen held down his side of the field. He very quietly had a solid game, the Saints WRs were held in check last night, due in large part to his play. Other than Harris, the back end of the defense is coming along nicely, which I thought was the biggest weakness on the whole team.

The offense... Waller is establishing himself as one of the best TEs in the league and probably the Raiders' best player. Teams will start to gameplan to stop him. Can DC get Ruggs the ball when this happens? That's a great question because even on a bad wheel Ruggs was getting behind the D and Carr couldn't hit him 2 weeks in a row now. Once those two get on the same page this offense will be scary. Online,  props to Simpson and Good, those guys held their own and Miller is justifying is draft status ahead of Derwin James every week.  Jacobs is the Man! But Gruden has always loved Richard from day one. I noticed he was scripted into the gameplan more last night than week one. Overall,  nice balanced and clean win for LV. Go Raiders!

My thoughts:

I thought this game was going to be Saints blowout after the first quarter.  I also thought it was going to slip away after the Richard fumble.  Maybe this team is of a different character than the ones of the past.

Carr was really good, but still like to see a couple more deep shots.  The PI on Ruggs late is a good example of what can happen if you just take them.

O Line and Cable have to be saluted.

The defense brought more pressure in the second half which was good to see.  If you can't get there with four guys just have to send more.  Nothing worse than just sitting back and getting picked apart.

The Saints scored way too easily to make it 31-24.  Need to stay more aggressive on D there.

If the Raiders are going to win this week guys not named Waller and Jacobs are going to have to make plays.  Belichick will be scheming to stop them and there should be opportunities available for everyone else.

Alec Ingold first TD as a Raider in Allegiant Field. Didn't see that coming. Doubled his TD count last night. Carr hit 1 different receivers. Hope he keeps spreading the ball around like that. Nice catch by Zay Jones. Hope to see more of that from him.

That Ingold TD was a beautifully designed play.
