______ Passed Away Today, RIP (6 Viewers)

Coolest lady on TV when I was a lad. I think my mom watched The Mod Squad just to see Lipton's sunglasses each week.
Peggy Lipton is my good friend's aunt, which I never knew until a few years back. We've grown up, switched coasts, and don't get together often, but he's still someone I consider a good friend. RIP Ms. Lipton.

The 1950s in a person. So sunny, SO hopeful, so deeply conflicted, so madly obsessed. May she be buried all in bows. RIP -
Top box office start for every year from 60 to 64. That’s an incredible run on top of a wonderful singing career. She also had an interesting Manson connection as well an incredible career as an advocate. One of the last old Hollywood stars left.

Her son was record producer Terry Melcher, who had rejected Manson's audition in the late '60s. The murders of Sharon Tate and her friends took place at Melcher's old house -- either because Manson mistakenly thought Melcher still lived there, or because Manson wanted to "send a message" to Melcher that Manson could track him down no matter where he tried to hide.

Yep, that's it. The "You Must Remember This" podcast did an incredible season on the Manson murders- it was fascinating.

A guilty pleasure was reruns of Day's sixties sitcom where she played the early for TV "working mom dealing with a full house and a career".

I love the way Vicki Lawrence shuts it down.
the most wonderful thing about Tim Conway was that, with the elephant bit (like so much of his stuff w those folk) he's got three people just crippled by everything he does and...............................................he gets every frikkin second he can out of it.

Although a legend, Tim Conway was still an underrated comic genius.  He was that good.

His 'Dorf on golf' made him millions too.

He would have been up there with Chaplin and Keaton in silents had he been born 30 years earlier earlier. He could do physical humor as well as anyone ever did.

Tim Conway. Legend. Loved him on the Carol Burnett show. 😭
I grew up with an early 70's, Saturday night line-up of All in the Family; MASH; The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, and The Carol Burnett Show.  Very funny stuff.

He was also an excellent talk show guest. He had a quick wit, great timing and always came with a funny story or anecdote.

He could crack up Johnny Carson, which wasn't an easy thing to do.

and his timing is impeccable..  he knows he has them and waits just long enough to keep them guessing..

I always thought she had a TV show adapted from her movie "Please Don't Eat the Daisies". I assumed that the "Doris Day Show" was really just shorthand for the adaptation.

Heavyweight boxer Bert Cooper died at age 53.  Cooper was nicknamed Smokin' because he was trained early in his career by fellow Philadelphian Joe Frazier.  He held a couple of minor cruiserweight and heavyweight belts but is best known as a reliable opponent who could put on a decent show.  He counted defeats to George Foreman, Michael Moorer, Riddick Bowe and Ray Mercer among his 25 losses in 63 pro bouts.

His biggest shot was a title bout vs. Evander Holyfield in 1991.  Cooper took the fight as a late fill-in for Mike Tyson (before prison) and put up a credible performance.  He hurt Holyfield badly in the 3rd and knocked him down for the first time in his career.  Holyfield recovered to win by TKO.

You may be right. She was a widow with young boys and a cranky bearded dad that lived with her.

There was a show that lasted a couple of seasons called "Please Don't Eat the Daisies" but DD didn't appear on it. They had a DD type to play her character from the movie. I remember seeing the show in random syndication a few times.
