Perez worked for both of the big boys, DC and Marvel, as well as some smaller independent outfits. the prototypical Big Man. his Bonnies beating my Eagles is what pointed my interest to college ball. he was sumn different from the beanpole guys and to watch a deep giant's handle get sharper, shot range get wider and footwork get sharper (when his knees allowed) every season was an inspiration to this hulking young man. RIP -

Living in Milwaukee in the early '80s, got to see him play quite a bit with those really good Bucks teams alongside Marques Johnson, Sidney Moncrief, Junior Bridgeman, etc. Was still an effective force underneath and always seemed like a class act.

In the early 90's I interviewed a guy who played with Lanier.

He told me a story about a time that Lanier blew out his shoe during practice.  Bob took it off, and shot it at a pretty good-sized garbage can just off the court.

The shoe didn't go in the can; it straddled across the top of it.

The whole team was cracking up.

The guy telling me this story broke up in laughter 3-4 times before he could finish the story. He had me laughing too.

He didn't get the job though
