______ Passed Away Today, RIP (14 Viewers)

Man that sucks for Perry, sounds like it was at home in a hot tub. What a tragic accident.
How do you drown in a hot tub? Passing out from heat (or drugs/alcohol)?
They said no drugs or foul play so my guess is either drunk and passed out or medical emergency. I suppose if it's in ground that he slipped and fell, hitting his head on the way in. No matter what, it's just so sad.

Sadly, the first thing I thought was drugs given his past addictions. But yeah it’s sad regardless - shows that no matter how much money and fame you have, demons don’t care. ☹️

Omg can't imagine that scene. 😧

I don't know who Adam Johnson is but this seemed inevitable.

Skate blade.

No images above, just an RIP message.
I searched for the incident just to see what happened. What I wasn't prepared for was the amount of blood that almost instantly was everywhere.
If the video I saw was real, it looked like the other skater karate kicked him in the neck.

Are you suggesting it was on purpose?

Copied from The Athletic:

Severe neck injuries are uncommon in hockey but not unprecedented. During an NHL game in 1989, Clint Malarchuk was cut on the neck by a skate and suffered a severed jugular vein, one of the major blood vessels that stretches from the head to the chest. Malarchuk survived but following the gruesome injury, he developed post-traumatic stress disorder. In 2008, Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik had a carotid artery, another major blood vessel, sliced open by a teammate’s skate, forcing emergency surgery. He missed the remainder of the season but returned to play in 2008-09.

That is horrifying.

Sorry for quoting my own post but my son just asked if I watched it as others are suggesting it was on purpose. That’s even more horrific but I won’t go seek it out, don’t need to see that.

No way do i want to see it. makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers had his wrist cut by the skate blade of Pat Maroon of the Tampa Bay Lightning last season (November 8th).
He credits the fast actions of the medical staff for saving his life and career. He returned to play that same season.

I recall. Pretty sure I was watching the game. It wasn't really obvious and couldn't reqlly see any blood. Scary as he'll, but a Clint malarchuk kind-of event would be something you couldn't unsee.

i have seen the video of that incident. It is something you can't unsee. If I remember it correctly, the only reason he survived was because there was a surgeon in the stands, who specialized in traumatic injuries or something and he stepped in to help.

I seem to remember this and I think it was a trainer noticed it right away and held a pressure point that restricted the loss of blood.

Maybe I’m thinking of another event?

If I recall. He was down on his knees but it wasn't obvious at the time but then you just saw a pool of blood forming and yes a trainer
quickly got out ther

Eta: article...... warning there is a picture of blood from the incident. Trainer saved his life

This entire exchange made me laugh very loudly and now I feel like a jerk for laughing about death. I hate you all.

Same. I was watching it live. Every heartbeat a stream of blood would shoot out of his neck. It was gross. Pretty sure he eventually walked off the ice while bleeding profusely and the players went back onto the ice to finish game. Sadly Malarchuk tried to kill himself with a 22 about 20 years later. Luckily his wife called 911 and they saved him.

and the players went back onto the ice to finish game.
hard to imagine, huh? Almost watch a man die right in front of you, and really not know if he is still alive, yet get back out there to keep playing. Kind of mind boggling to think of that now.
How did they get the blood off the ice so they could resume play?
Water and a scraper
That's just gross. I guess I should be grateful they didn't just Zamboni the guy.
