Now if AP wins his grievance to be removed from he CEL, he can play as early as this week while he appeals the 6 game suspension. Just what the NFL wants for PR. A drawn out court battle that they have a 50\50 chance of having their 6 game suspension reduced while the player they punished can get back on the field.

Horrible PR. Horribly handled. Opens the door for litigation for every disciplinary decision Goodell makes from now until he resigns. They've broken what little trust they had with the NFLPA now and have basically stated that its no longer a facade, the NFL does not care what the players think and doesn't need them to deal out justice.

This circus just ramped up to a whole other level now. Way to protect the image of the shield Rog. Were going to be hearing about litigation when we should have been looking at playoff races.

The NFLPA -- which previously attempted to collectively bargain a revised Personal Conduct Policy -- will appeal and cited the Peterson suspension as an "example of the credibility gap" in the NFL's decisions.

"The decision by the NFL to suspend Adrian Peterson is another example of the credibility gap that exists between the agreements they make and the actions they take. Since Adrian's legal matter was adjudicated, the NFL has ignored their obligations and attempted to impose a new and arbitrary disciplinary proceeding," the union said in a statement.

"The facts are that Adrian has asked for a meeting with Roger Goodell, the discipline imposed is inconsistent and an NFL executive told Adrian that his time on the Commissioner's list would be considered as time served."

The union confirmed they would appeal the decision and would demand a neutral arbitrator oversee said appeal.

Additionally, the union called for the Management Council to do whatever was necessary to make changes

"We call on the NFL Management Council to show our players and our sponsors leadership by committing to collective bargaining so a fair personal conduct policy can be implemented as quickly as possible."

A few things are certain, no one is ever going on the CEL again. Their will not be another CBA that will allow the commish to be judge jury and executioner ever again at the risk of lost seasons upon seasons. The NFLPA may never again negotiate with Goodell in any manor. The NFL is going to have its fill of court rooms over the next coming days and months. Goodells time as a commish is coming to an end because now its going to be Goodell went too far. The media hates Goodell they will spin it badly for him.

A source tells ESPN's Ed Werder that the Colts have no interest in free agent Ray Rice even if Rice is reinstated.

A judge is tentatively expected to rule that the NFL must reinstate Rice within the next two weeks. At that point, he'll be free to sign with any team as a free agent. The Colts are certainly desperate for a back with Rice's skill set in the wake of Ahmad Bradshaw's injury, but they're not going to take the PR hit and we doubt any other team will either. Rice's best chance to get back on the field will be in 2015, a full year removed from the release of the heinous videotape that rocked the league.

So if the ruling goes against the NFL and for Rice, does that mean the NFL violated Rices rights offered to him by the CBA in double jeopardy? Could mean that the commish has no idea how to enforce the rules he agreed to.

Great job by Goodell. Handled the whole thing perfectly. Peterson misses the entire season, as he should have. After missing an entire season, he will be welcomed back with open arms to the NFL in 2015, as most people will feel that an entire season is enough justice for his crimes.

I agree with the suspension, however if they were going to suspend for at least the season...why wait until the legal process plays out? Why allow him to be paid for 2/3 of the season?

It'll be a bad public relations fiasco. I do think that there is a strong possibility of a strike in the near future but the union is likely to allow time to go by from this incident.

its not arbitrary, there are 6 games left,and thats whats allowable under the new PCP, 6 games for first offense domestic violence.

Didn't an arbitrator decide that AP would be suspended for the remainder of the year? If so, is this arbitrator neutral or employed by the NFL? Who decides the appeal? If the arbitrator is neutral I wouldn't expect the appeal to be successfull, and if it is, I only think the suspension would be reduced to 3-4 games.
