**AFC Divisional Round - Texans at Ravens** (-9.5, 46) Kickoff Sat 4:30 (1 Viewer)

Spread's hanging around in the no-man's-land between 7 and 10. I make this game closer to 7 than 10. Baltimore is really good and should win but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Texans keep it close. Hoping they do.

I took a swing on the over. I think 43.5 is obtainable with Stroud making some plays. But Baltimore wins this 33-20.

Baltimore hasn’t hosted a conference championship game since January 1971, when the Baltimore Colts beat the Oakland Raiders.

The Texans, though, are the only AFC South team to never reach the AFC championship game; they are one of four teams (Browns, Jaguars, Lions) to never appear in the Super Bowl

The Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans) last appearance in the conference championship game was in Pittsburgh in January 1980, when it lost to the Steelers in the AFCCG for the second consecutive year.

I was leaning this way all week until this morning. I'm a horrible gambler, though. You could win a bunch of money fading my picks over a season.

Baltimore on paper, but I really need to see Lamar take the next step. I've seen his previous playoff games and not impressed. Hasn't once led the team to more than 20 points, and his 4 tds to 7 turnovers is drastically bad even if it's only been 4 starts.
Yep. No one should be surprised if he is great today and they put up 35, but no one should also be surprised if he struggles and they lose 21-17. For all of his regular season greatness, he doesn't have a single great postseason game. I think he gets it today, but we'll see.

The pressure is on.

Not 1999 when they faced the Rams in the Super Bowl?

That was awkwardly worded. The city of Houston has not had a team in the AFCCG since the 1979-80 season.

(They were the Tennessee Oilers 1997-1998, and became the Titans in 1999.)

That makes sense. I was one of the few who continued to support that franchise after they left. I still count that one for Houston since we had to suffer through all the rebuilding years with the same core of players :bag:

Stroud has played well but this Ravens defense is really tough and the Ravens staff has plenty of experience getting ready for big games. I have a hard time seeing the Texans keeping this close...but I hope I'm wrong.

Interesting they did a option run for Jackson 1st play. They're obviously trying to loosen up Houston for play-action, which Houston is not good at defending.

Interestingly, Harbaugh was one of the first guys to lean into aggressively going for it on 4th down and now he’s backed off on that. I think sometimes a big favorite can undermine itself by giving up good field position on a failed 4th down attempt, as happened multiple times in that 2019 playoff loss
I love it. Make the lesser opponent beat you. Don’t give the ball away on downs or leave points off the board

I'm going to keep hyping Ronald Darby vs. Nico Collins as a key matchup, but Strod shouldn't need to force it. If I'm Stroud I lean on the vets Robert Woods and Dalton Schultz, they've been in these games before.
