AFC Title Game Discussion: Colts/Pats (1 Viewer)

Wow. I'm sure I'll appreciate this one later but what an anti-climatic win.

This is eerily similar to how Peyton looked when he was young in the playoffs in NE.
Peyton had a good team around him. Luck has nothing. His best receiver is a midget and the Colts have practice squad level running backs.
Sounds like the superbowl winning patriots teams
They had a great defense and a great kicker - and hard nosed runners.
the Colts have literally the same kicker
He's older and less useful now - since the Colts defense is terrible.

Not for nothing because it's just a kicker, but vinatieri had his career best fg%, kicked 30 field goals (more than 2001 or 2003 but b he had 31 in 2004), had a career high three field goals of 50+, and leads all kickers in the postseason this year. Older and less useful?

wow --Tom Brady may actually win a legitimate SB ---No way Hawks lose
Bob Kraft desperately wants to win another SB ring to replace the one Putin took from him.
Can't he just make/buy another ring?
Okay. Patriots fans are desperate for another SB win.
Sorry. No WAY as much as I hate Pats, as obvious here, do the Hawks lose this SB. Seriously, Hawks will suffocate the Pats like no other team has they've ever faced. Really. As I see it.

The Irony...Pittsburgh cuts Blount and what happens not only does Blount go for 148 yards and 3 TD's today and goes to the Superbowl but Bell gets hurt and they lost to Baltimore.

Seattle opened at -3. NE is now -1.
 The line has moved 4 points already? I can't see it.
Trust me on this one. It was SEA -3 at halftime of the Pats game. With each TD New England piled on, they got hammered offshore and in Vegas. It happens just that fast.
Wow, that's crazy. So the official opening line is the Pats -1? I assume the opening line is established after all games are played?

Come on. Vinatieri had ONE 51 yard attempt. He would have to score 13 field goals for the Colts to win, if he even got in range.

The line changes as the money comes in.

By "less useful", I only mean that the Colts are either blowing out bad teams or getting blown out by good teams. He's still a great kicker, but it hardly mattered in this game. Back on the Pats, they had a great defense, running game and Brady did what he need to do so Vinetari's greatness was useful.

None of it was meant to disparage the Pats or Tom Brady. My original response was to Yudkin saying that Luck looks like how Manning used to. I cant really blame Luck here, because the Colts are a 3 or 4 win team without Luck. They aren't a good team at all. Manning had Wayne, Harrison, Clark, and decent RBs in Addai and Rhodes back then. Luck has Hilton, a decent TE in Allen and a bunch of crap in support.

From everything I have seen the line started at Seattle -3 and went down to Seattle -2.5. Only a .5 move. I don't put much stock in the offshore books that have crazy line moves. Those are bogus. If there was a Vegas line that was below Seattle -2.5 I'd like to see it?

I was not dissing on Luck. Peyton struggled early on with playing in NE, the elements, and the Pats defensive scheme. Luck will figure them out at some point.

Great game by the Pats! Colts never stood a chance. Congrats Patriots fans and good luck in the Super Bowl.
Your boys are paying their dues and making strides. Lost in the wildcard round last year. Lost in the divisional round this year. The next logical leap is a Super Bowl appearance. Getting home field is more important for the Colts than perhaps any other team.

I thought it was wildcard 2 years ago, divisional rd last year, and AFC title this year.

The playoff experience will only make the Colts a better team.

Luck's time is coming, he is seriously working with less than Peyton had when he started. It could get pretty boring around the NFL for the next few years if the Colts get talent around him. Could be a lot of Seattle and Indy super bowls. At worst they will be in the hunt every year.

While not as much fun as Brady/Manning through the years, where they played seemingly every year, these 2 young guns look to be the real deal. Love the see them in the same conference to get more matchups,

Could be. Been drinking since 11:30.

may be true, but can;t see sea offense doing much easier. Brady spreads then and throws 50 times...that's bound to translate into some points. I see a very close game

And the notion home teams went 8-2 in the playoffs (if you buy into the concept the Steelers without Bell had any kind of advantage over Baltimore), I mean, that is just utterly shocking. Unprecedented, isn't it? The home teams, the favored teams, won nearly every game!

I really thought the Colts would put up a better fight than that. Props to the Pats for a great gameplan and execution.

Should be a fun superbowl.

Now the Colts should use their first round draft pick on a RB to put them over the hump.

oh .... wait
The Colts have their first round pick this year. The 2014 pick was traded for Richardson.
Irsay must have been hammered when he OK'd that deal. Damn. That hasn't turned out well in the least. Healthy scratch for the divisional and championship rounds. Oooof

He will get cut and the Colts will eat his guaranteed 3M salary.

I'm not so sure on Seattle. Whole lot of rookie contracts. Will be interesting to see how they keep that D together when they have to pay them. I'm still not sold on Wilson being great. He sure crapped the bed against GB. Just was bailed out by a great team around him.

But for a few more years they will be very good. They're the first D in more than 40 years to be the top scoring D 3 straight years.

Luck is already good enough I think that he won't need much of a team around him to be competitive.

That is where we disagree. I think Wilson is that good and one bad game doesn't change my mind. Sure the rookie contracts are coming up, but I think Seattle will continue to find talent and let Wilson take over the team.
