***AFCC - Buffalo 15-4 at Kansas City 16-2*** (-2, 47.5) 6:30 (1 Viewer)

The tackle movement was explained in the other KC game thread, and yet here we are again.

This is getting boringly repetitive.

Just to add to above,

Whitworth, Lane and others were also exploiting this loophole.

That's what the article I linked said. Although it's more than a loophole—it's an exception that swallows the rule.

It's not boringly repetitive until they fix it. If you don't like the discussion, try another thread.

Another thread should be started to discuss it instead of the same posters arriving en masse in every KC game thread complaining about every flag thrown or not thrown.

I think that would make more sense.

a containment thread if you will

I honestly think the only team KC would have beat LAST weekend was Houston.
They have been barely getting by all season.

Give me Buffalo all day.

KC is a good team
They win....like a lot
They play a lot of games on national TV and primetime ....lots of exposure
They have players or coaches in almost every commercial
They got Tay Tay..
For pretty much every team on their schedule....they are the other teams super bowl....EVERY week
Chiefs fatigue is a real thing.....anybody but the Chiefs please
I"m a fan of Team X....and whoever is playing the Chiefs this week...
Chiefs jealousy is a real thing but people won't admit that....its the refs
Every other fan base would love to have this kind of run

because of all these things.....every little thing that goes their way has to be something else.....every call that goes their way is the refs are favoring the Chiefs....

Disagree that they are the other team’s Super Bowl as there are lots of really good teams and every week is a challenge and don’t understand what you are saying about the commercials. I despise commercials in general and watch as few as possible.

commercial thing: Mahomes, Kelce, Reid saturate many commercials.....it's bad enough they play lots of national televised games ...but now they are in your face 24/7

One problem, though. They are calling him for false starts because he's not just exploiting a loophole—he's also moving early at times. So that is adding to the confusion.

So what you are saying is that he’s not that good of a lineman and he is also not that good at cheating on the snap count.

I think he's saying they've oversaturated the market to where it's no longer cool to see the Chiefs on television. It's actually quite a drag. If I have to see the Bundlerooski or Bundle is Life commercial one more time I think I'm going to start pulling my own hair out.

Bundle is Life is one of the worst commercials I can remember in recent memory. Yes, let's take a barely-English speaking soccer player and have him say, barely out of his native tongue, "Bundle Is Life" like he's Speedy Gonzalez or something.

"As you look at the rules, it talks about offensive player in a two-point stance and he has an ability to adjust. One of the things, from talking to referees, you are allowed to adjust your back-foot. The biggest thing they don't want to see, is the trunk rock forward, or the front-foot shift in the stance. So, the back-foot, you can move it, Lane does this a lot, Laremy Tunsil, a lot of your top tackles move their back-foot.

"This is kind of giving a way a trade-secret, but, you find your back-foot, you find a rhythm with that back-foot, as far as adjusting, and then you just adjust it, you adjust it, and it becomes a snap-timer," Manyweather said.

Whether it is announcers, reporters or fans, Manyweather believes that people need to change their perspective when it comes to watching and evaluating offensive tackle play.

"Just because you think you're seeing something," Manyweather said. "That it is fact. The rules are the facts. The tape are the facts. These guys aren't starting early."

That's exactly what I've been trying to say. Yes. No sarcasm. You've nailed it.

Johnson is good at it and never gets called. Bakhtiari I can't remember getting flagged. Taylor? Flags galore.

I'm still not even sure what the loophole is they're writing about. I guess the entire explanation comes from these few sentences?

"It's not a penalty if he's in the two-point stance," Baldinger told FanBuzz. "Andrew Thomas does it. So does Lane Johnson. They're only playing by the rules."

Are they saying you're allowed to move early if you're in a 2-pt stance, or am I misunderstanding something?

Yeah Taylor has been not great. I thought we would be free of him after this season, but might have to endure 1 more year.

You're allowed to shift or move your back foot if in that stance, best to my ability of sussing it out. Try reading the article I linked upthread about Lane Johnson. It goes into it a bit more in depth.

What's happening is they're going right from that movement into a backpedal on the snap. It's really balletic if you think about it. Big men doing that.

Jawaan Taylor, I mean. Obviously, Taylor Swift has been instrumental to this KC winning culture.

I get it if you’re not a Chiefs fan. It sucks when one team wins a lot and any favorable call seems egregious. I was known in my day to want to punch the wall watching Brady. I thought he was the luckiest guy ever and maybe lost my **** during the Bucs Super Bowl win. But I wasn’t posting weekly of a grand conspiracy and fix by the refs/league. Ludicrous to me that it’s considered believable. Just hate them on principle like we all did Tom.

I don't think it's a conspiracy. I just think the officials are human and subject to bias, and the league office likes dynasties. No coordination necessary.

I like Mahomes. I have nothing at all against the Chiefs, aside from wanting to beat them. They're a great team. I don't know that I've ever posted anything negative about this team, other that simply observing that they are on the officials' good side, and that's not really their fault. You don't see me apologizing when Allen draws 15 yards on a flop.

The league is well aware of the fact that they have an optics problem regarding officiating, and they voluntarily choose not to address it. We are allowed to draw inferences from the lack of action.

The part that I do actually, for real, think might be a conspiracy is the idea that the league intentionally puts up with bad officiating because it keeps the league in the news each week. No such thing as bad publicity, etc. I'd assign about 30% weight to that idea. In other words, I don't believe that per se, but it strikes me as a credible explanation for why the most popular sports league in North America lets amateur officials screw up games on a regular basis.

I mean, did you guys watch BUF-BAL? That was also a divisional playoff game with atrocious officiating. It's just that the injustices more or less balanced out. But they were terrible.

I pretty much agree with @IvanKaramazov entirely. The idea of script wrtiers or orders from the front office seems absolutely ridiculous, to me. There’s no way they could keep something like that under wraps with all the people that’d be involved.

I think the answer is simple bias- the Jordan treatment.

And the idea of not fixing glaring officiating issues to keep them in the news seems a little tinfoil hattish, to me, but ut’s interesting.

For about 5 minutes it seemed like the game degenerated into a street fight and the refs didn’t care. Wild.

Back to the game.

The more I dig in the more I like KC. Buffalo struggles against TEs, I have already bet receptions and yards for both KCs TEs.

Milano (LB) might also be hurt, the Bills are being cagey about it, and Rapp (safety) is day to day.

Not relevant to the TE point, but having their best CB get a concussion on a freakin onside kick attempt is also horrible luck.

Mahomes FEASTED on the Bills backup defenders last year and will do the same.

I see a script where KC gets up by two scores early and they exchange blows after that. Allen scores late to get within one but Mahomes ices it.

And the Allen narrative continues that “HE” can’t beat Mahomes (even though head to head career he has more yards, TDs and fewer turnovers).

There were about a half dozen spots where they could have thrown at least one flag for getting chippy.

If the NFL wanted a team to win, it wouldn't be hard. It would only take one ref.

A secret between 2 people is easily kept, as long as one is dead.

A conspiracy on that scale would leak like crazy within hours.

What if its not a secret? What if its something that a lot of people believe already? The best place to hide something is in plain view if you can.

I'm not exactly sure what the bolded means...you know these guys have paid their dues and worked their way up through the ranks of jr high, high school, jr college, div 3, div 2, div 1 give or take and go through an extensive training and evaluation program ....and the get evaluated literally on every play in every game for positioning, judgment, angle, call, no call etc....they are in no way shape or form amateur.....if the part of some of them not being "full time" bothers you...I don't know what to say....but please do some research into the time they put in to do what they do before calling them amateur.... c'mon man...be better...

many in here have transitioned from full blown conspiracy directed down from the league.....to the refs basically just "cheating" for the chiefs for some reason on their own.....to just a general bias in favor of the chiefs ....then to an "unconscious" bias for the chiefs....then to a "it only takes one ref on a double pinky secret swear"....

Like most of the country, I'm rooting for Buffalo. But I'm not sure why this time would be any different. KC can shut down Cook, and if they do...then what? Is Shakir going to tear up that secondary? Can the Bills cover Hopkins, Worthy and Kelce?

I think KC wins by double digits.

Well, we can’t all be as objective and impartial as you when it comes to officiating

Maybe. Or maybe this is just Goodell being Goodell. While he’s evidently a smart business guy — or so people say because revenue keeps growing — he’s shown limited ability to think ahead on most topics that involve the actual game. The NFL is consistently slow to address issues that are glaringly obvious to most fans (eg the question “what’s a catch?”).

Similarly, even though most fans think the officiating sucks, a) Goodell doesn’t know how to fix it b) unless it threatens the revenue stream Goodell simply doesn’t care.

You are poster of the year man. Probably the last several. Hands down one of my favorite and respected posters.

Just a hands down great poster who can make their argument without any attacks or subterfuge.

( Please mail my $100 to…..)

Seriously man, love your stuff .

Welp, something we can all get excited about for this game, regardless of who you're rooting for....

Lot of flags

:penalty: :penalty: :penalty:

This ref crew calls the most flags on average against the home team, and the 2nd most against the road team.

Can we get the same avatar/pic with red and yellow stripes going down vs the traditional black?
;)

Per a meme I saw this morning, BUF has already been flagged twice for roughing the passer. Penalties will be accessed, as needed, under a separate call TBD.
I’ll allow it but can this be the last ****ing one of these jokes? Have heard it for 3 days now.

As an Eagles fan that still hears about snowballs thrown at Santa, I will only say “Good luck with that.”

Sorry man. Steelers fan going way back, and after the Cowher years... it's kinda funny when it's some other team. 😄
