This morning, running back Ahman Green and linebacker Brady Poppinga both took part in the pre-practice walk-through and stretching drills that followed. It appears Green and Poppinga have been cleared to practice for the first time since training camp began.
It's significant in so much as just this past Saturday, Green was speculating that he wouldn't be doing anything for yet another week. The fact that he is starting to ease his way in starting today and may even see preseason action is significant, if for no other reason than people would like to see him in action before their fantasy drafts.Um.if walking and stretching are taking part in pratice,I took part in the Packers practice this morning too!Link

former 2x owner of Ahman Green (04 and 05) -- unless he's sitting there after I have my backup TE, i'm not drafting him.So now it's only a matter of time until he reinjures himself, seriously jump off this ship and don't even think about sinking on it.

It won't take a very high pick to secure Green's services this season. As such, he could win a lot of fantasy titles for owners with faith. Having said that, I will have a set point before which I will not draft him.former 2x owner of Ahman Green (04 and 05) -- unless he's sitting there after I have my backup TE, i'm not drafting him.So now it's only a matter of time until he reinjures himself, seriously jump off this ship and don't even think about sinking on it.
he was 15th RB in non-PPR leagues, and he was drafted top 7 overall that year in most drafts. he got a TON of those points in two games that season as well. qualifies as a first round bust IMO.last year ... before the injury ... he was horrific.Green was the 13th rated RB on 04. If he reaches anywhere near that level this year, he's![]()

there's about a 100% chance he will NOT get back to 100%I really like Ahman as a great value pick if he can get back to 100%.
That's exactly the type of thinking that can make Green a great value pick.there's about a 100% chance he will NOT get back to 100%I really like Ahman as a great value pick if he can get back to 100%.
As we are seeing, with modern surgical techniques, a torn ACL is no longer a career-threatning injury. However, a torn quadriceps is not something any RB has ever returned from that I can remember. And Deuce is goign to have a well-defined role in NO - goaline carries. Ahman's role in GB is so up in the air.Yeah - I know the guy was hurt, but people are WAY down on Ahman Green, it's fantastic.I mean, he's 29, his 2004 campaign was inconsistent but he put up solid total numbers, and he's in a contract year.Sure, the injury was relatively major, but people are still taking Deuce McCallister over him, who had a torn ACL AND is playing with some guy named Reggie Bush.
This is something I hear a lot. Yet I don't ever see anyone post a RB who has had a torn quadriceps. A torn ACL doesn't have to be "career-threatening" to have an effect the following season. As we are seeing, with modern surgical techniques, a torn ACL is no longer a career-threatning injury. It is? Couple of things:Hard to say that no one has returned from a torn quad since it doesn't appear to be as common as an ACL. Not a lot of precedence, I suppose. As we are seeing, with modern surgical techniques, a torn ACL is no longer a career-threatning injury. I agree for the most part. No one knows how his body will react. He's never been an "injury prone" player, so we will see. But it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he comes back strong. Obviously he'll need a strong OL to come back all the way.Big Score said:Good news on Green & while I do hope he makes a full recovery, I'm not holding my breath.
A big if, to be sure, but barring a setback, Ahman screams value IMO.
Deuce was certainly never a GL back under Haslett - Brooks practically always threw it inCouple of things:Hard to say that no one has returned from a torn quad since it doesn't appear to be as common as an ACL. Second, I wasn't aware Deuce has a "well-defined" role as the GL back. If I missed it, my bad, but I haven't heard as much, and it doesn't seem like Deuce is any farther along in his rehab than Ahman.
As noted, from most accounts, Green is still slated to be the guy in GB as long as he stays healthy. A big if, to be sure, but barring a setback, Ahman screams value IMO.
