All Android/Google All the Time (2 Viewers)

I am activity trying to abuse my data plan this month and am at ~7.2gb with ~7 days left. I mean it, I am pushing it (wifi off everywhere besides home) downloading ROMs, music, all software updates, way too much periscope (while pooping :bag: ) and speedtests all over the place. Since I am on T-Mo though they have only charged me for about ~6gb right now thanks to music freedom.

At this point the only way I could see my self hitting 10gb would be to continue to push it as is, and to start streaming movies. Anyway, just thought I'd share, after this billing period I am going back to using wifi as per usual and expect to be back in the 3-4gb per month range.
What do you do on periscope? I support internetting while pooping
mostly just watch chain-smoking, female, russianed, university students practice english while trying to teach them that "I give handjob" is another way to say "how are you?"

I used 9.94 last month.

We were on vacation and the wifi was crappy.

Usually we are around 5 or 6
I'm usually somewhere between 1 and 2 for a month. We went on a vacation for a little over a week, with a lot of hours in the car. Had the family tether to my unlimited plan when we weren't at a hotel and ended up at around 25. Mostly from my son watching YouTube videos in the back seat.

What apps does this apply to? Spotify, Google Play, Pandora, etc?

I am a prepaid T-Mobile user, do you know if the free music applies to me or is it just for contract plans?

It does, I was pre-paid T-mo for a few years before switching to their family plan. Google Play and Spotifiy are the two I use.

I just pulled this list from their site:

Anybody switch from an iPhone 5 to a Galaxy s6? Ive been reading that the s6 battery is "just ok" but I can't tell if thats just compared to a big boy like the Note or if its not great in general.

Since upgrading to ios9 (which ironically promised better battery management) I need to charge every 2-3 hours.

Also might give the Nexus 5x a look too if the battery/camera looks solid.

Not sure if this is affecting anyone else, but I'm noticing more and more sites that have infected ads on them that redirect your browser to other spammy webpages.

My league is hosted on Fleaflicker and I can't do anything there right now using Chrome on my LG G Flex 2. It just immediately redirects me to other garbage.

Verizon 2013 Moto X finally got Lollipop. It's destroyed my battery life. Battery is down under 5% at the end of every day, and I really don't use my phone during that time outside of the occasional text or phone call.

It wasn't great before, but I wasn't rushing to charge the phone at the end of the work day.

Is there any reason not to get rid of Lollipop? I can't tell any useful benefit of the new features.

^that sucks.

I just got updated to 6.0 the other day. (Nexus 5) Battery life has greatly improved. I mean, a lot. The N5 was known for having really bad battery life, and that has all disappeared. Even with heavy use, I can still have 20% left at the end of the day. Only downside I have seen so far.... Pandora is ####### up bad. A song will start, then goes quiet for 30 seconds, then I'll hear 5 seconds of the song, then goes quiet for another 30 seconds, then it skips to the next song. Prolly have to uninstall, then reinstall

Sorry if it's already been mentioned, but Google Survey is kind of cool. You take little 10 second surveys and they deposit money into your play store account.

You guys got marshmallow already?
The OTA updates roll out to devices over 2-3 weeks.. youll get it sooner than later. Started a few days ago.

I just installed the factory image on Day 1... It's basically Lollipop, w a few new features and wayyyyyy better battery life, in my experience.

But with that in mind, Ive already installed the Cataclysm ROM for Marshmallow... Just cant live without the "swipe to sleep" and "volume buttons to wake" options... among the countless other ones

I started this back in June but it stopped giving me surveys. I don't know if my settings are wrong or they didn't like my answers or what. It was nice taking a few seconds to complete them and then earning some coin. For a minute I felt like a productive and successful human being.

I just got 6.0

I thought marshmallow was going to have fingerprint screen unlock function, no?

What fun stuff should I be looking for?

never heard of this... the new nexus devices have a rear fingerprint scanner... is that what you meant?

I still get them all the time. I was at Lowes once, had a bad experience, so gave then a crap rating. Soon after I got a survey asked if I had been there, and how would I rate the experience.

I've got over $10 sitting in my account right now; probably close to $70 or so since I've started with it.

P.S. the battery on my Nexus 7 drops 0% over night now with Marshmallow. GB Doze.

Battery life went way down on my OnePlus One when I switched to Lollipop. Tried a lot of things to improve life and I still barely made it through a day. What drove me really crazy was the big drops when I wasn't even using the phone. I rolled back to KitKat and while there's been a couple of things I missed, the improved battery life more than makes up for it. On both iOS and Android, system upgrades are always a step backward it seems.

In the Google Play Store, if you search "Playlist the very best" there are a TON of free albums from all sorts of artists today. Oldies, modern rock, country, pop, hip-hop...just loads of stuff.

I got the Best of Rick Astley set but it was only one song.

What are best android phones right now? I've been away for about 4 years but am getting bored with my iPhone 6 Plus.

Here is what I've heard of with limited looking:

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus - looks freaking beautiful

Samsung Note 5

LG G4

5x

6P

Any phone stand out above others?

I bit the bullet and sold my verizon unlimited plan($550)

I grabbed a nexus 6 and i'm trying out t-mobile, not terrible but went out to dinner on saturday night and had no service which was annoying.

The biggest issues is that the nexus 6 has no led indicator and it's driving me freaking crazy.

Wow, that much?

getting bored with my iPhone 6 Plus.
It's a phone, what's to get bored with, and although I love Android I really don't think there's anything those phones are going to do that the iphone won't.

Not to mention you've already wasted a ton of money on a premium phone, why would you want to waste more money on another premium phone?

Yeah, do tell.

Any chance you could give a quick rundown on the steps you had to take to sell it, or a good link to instructions?

I keep going back and forth about selling mine. Most months, I'm only at 2 GB usage or under, but there's the occasional month where we travel and I go way over. But even that is just because I can and not really because I need to. If I could sell it for that much without too much trouble, it might be hard to keep it now.

I'm curious as to what is out there that android offers. I've been with iPhones for about 4 years now but used to like the customizable phones I had before the iPhone. I read all the time how iPhones are bringing out features now that android has had for 2 years, I'm wondering what those are and in what phones are they available. As far as the money, pretty simple - I sell my phone and buy the android if there is a phone that looks worth switching. So far I have seen no suggestions.

Again, I like Android a lot, but i've also never tried apple.

But here's my suggestion. Setting up a phone correctly takes hours it feels like.. going through all the settings, typing in user names and passwords... it's a pain.

Keep your phone, it's brand new, just use it, and spend all the time you'd waste setting up a new phone and go see a movie, read a book, play some games with friends.. in person.

Don't worry about it.. Does your phone get e-mail? can you check sports scores, stocks, video chat with friends, look at pr0n, get GPS directions? sure, all decent phones do that. Just move on with your life. A new phone won't change anything.

Or he can not listen to Scroogy McFrugalpants III and do whatever the #### he wants. Man you are a real drag sometimes dude

EB > for the most part all the flagship phones will be top notch. They are all relatively close spec wise (well, obviously the phablet types will be much bigger), though the newest ones might have an extra GB RAM or 0.1 GHz or something. It will come down to personal preference and what you like in your UI. Unless you're a power user and are going to root, flash, overclock and stuff like that, just go play with a few of them at Best Buy or your local store and see what feels good. Look for things like removable battery, wireless charging and SD card slot if those are important to you. Not all phones have all or one of those capabilities.

I like my Galaxy S5, but my carrier (US Cellular) really only offers the Galaxy line so I'm stuck and can't really offer any other tangible advice.

Im in a similar boat... had the iphone 5 since it came out. I really liked it except for battery life, which is AWFUL. Want to upgrade but don't want to shell out close to a grand for a new iPhone.

The Nexus 6P looks like a sweet device and $550 for the 64GB version is a bargain compared to the iPhone 6S+. I just wish they made it the size of a 5X instead.

I purchased a OnePlus 2 about a month ago. I needed a dual sim phone. I like the phone a lot - but I'm not a phone "geek" so I can't speak to how it compares to other phones. I use it on T-Mobile via Ting.

Anyways - I received an invite that is supposed to be shared. So if anyone wants one just send me a message and it's yours.

Mine is 64GB and 4g Ram...it was about $400. There is a cheaper version but it doesn't have dual sim.

I think having the peace of mind to use as much data as you want for life is worth more than $550.

You probably can blow $550 on one purchase.

Then again I can see how the $550 is appealing if you switch over to T-Mobile unlimited.

I agree, the 5x size with the 6P specs would be good

Finally ditched my Galaxy S3 and bought an S5 on eBay. Looked hard at the S6 but $150 more for only a few features and a smaller (and non-removable) battery made my decision easy.

Updated the S5 to Android 5.1.1, set up Nova launcher and am loving it, especially the battery life - my S3 was lasting about 4-5 hours before needing a charge.

I got the Nexus 6P today to try out for a while. I'm also going to compare an LG V10. Moving around on the 6P is nice, coming from 5 years of iphones, I thought it would take a while to get used to.

Comparing the camera side by side to my iPhone 6 plus, the 6P pictures are much better, viewed on either phone. Looking at internet high def images and photos I took earlier this year on my iPhone 6 plus, everything looks better on the Nexus 6P. This is a nice phone.

This is exactly what I did. I moved to T-mobile unlimited because T-mobile coverage is very good in my area. It's actually better at my office than any other provider and I spend most of my time at work and at home(wifi).

Google Assumption of Liability, that's how the line transfer works. There's a lot of specifics on how to make it happen. I put my line up on ebay for $750 and had a few people contact me and finally agreed to a deal with a guy who buys unlimited lines and rents them out. He had accumulated 12 lines on an old account and rented them out each month(sounds like a lot of work). He actually guided me thru the whole process so it was really easy on my end. If I had sold it to someone who hadn't done several of these transfers before it probably would have been much more difficult.

Nexus 6P glass “spontaneously” cracking, users say

http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/11/09/nexus-6p-glass-spontaneously-cracking-users-say/

Worrying about the Nexus 6P bending might be the least of your worries. According to at least one user on Reddit, the rear glass panel on the Nexus 6P is prone to “spontaneously” shattering. Several other Redditors have backed up those claims with images of their shattered rear panels, which most claim happened randomly.

“It was sat on a table next to me when I heard the glass snap, leaving a little snowfall of shavings on the table under it,” Redditor Jonny_Rat said this weekend, with an image of the device as evidence. “It’s now continuing to crack away to itself.” Sure, it’s possible Jonny_Rat dropped the phone and this is the story we’re presented with, but other users have run into similar problems.

Another user said they made a Reddit account just to comment that it also happened to their device. A third person said it “happened to me on its first night.” A fourth said “Same thing happened to me today, less than 24 hours after buying the device.” Several commenters have suggested that it might be related to the tempered glass.

Neither Google nor Huawei have acknowledged the problem. We reached out to Huawei for comment but a spokesperson was not immediately available. Have you noticed this problem?

I have had the 6P for about 5 days now and its by far my favorite phone ever. No bending (I am 250 lbs, sat on it Saturday night and had no issues), no issues with the glass etc etc. The camera / video have been very impressive. Battery life has been more than adequate and the new doze feature is outstanding. I also switched from Verizon to Project Fi and that was such a breeze that I was shocked into contacting Fi customer service to make sure it was working as intended. The phone actually switched over immediately and I could not believe it. The 6P finger print scanner works flawlessly, the USB C is just as great.

A couple of negatives. The ambient display notifications do not seem to be quite large enough. When you have a few of them stacked together they can be slightly difficult to make out. The power and volume key are a bit too sensitive without a case. Once a case is put on they are fine.

I started noticing poor battery life with my 1yo Note4, so I finally broke down and hard reset.

I tried constantly killing everything, clean master, restarting, etc. My final straw was when my phone was draining while it was plugged in. It wasn't the fast charger, but it shouldn't be losing battery plugged in.

So far it seems to have improved the battery life. I am also experimenting with the Google Now Launcher. So far I like it.

I'm now 4 days into comparing the LG V10 to the Nexus 6P. The Nexus is pretty awesome, but the V10 is a complete beast. The camera is phenomenal, it multi tasks flawlessly, the screen is big and sharp. Plus, they are giving you an extra battery with charger and a 200gb micro SD with purchase. It has removable battery and micro SD slot. I think this is my new phone. I love it.

A GB has the V10 and loves it. He is an audio buff and the combo of the high-capacity external storage and Hi-Fi (lossless) audio playback is a big plus for him. He is also a camera guy, and loves the manual mode/RAW image capabilities of the phone.

Plus LG is a great, known manufacturer... I am still not sold on Huwei

I'm not a camera guy (yet) so I'm still learning, going straight auto for now. I realize though that the manual functions make it powerful, so I'm playing with the adjustments. The raw image is cool to do that with.

I love the expandable memory. I loaded a bunch of movies on a card yesterday to test how it works and it has no delay or pause or anything. It's been 5 years, but the last phone I had with expandable memory was very slow when using the card vs the internal memory. Not with this.

How much bloatware does Verizon (or whoever your provider is) put on there?

V10 looks awesome but I like the idea of buying direct with the Nexii and the Moto X Pure, especially now that VZ is tacking on an extra $20 for phones purchased through them.
