Have you guys tried inbox? Also I believe there is a setting that allows you to delete emails from your non-gmail accounts on the original server. Not 100% sure but I believe I saw that with the initial setup.

No - that will be next.  I was trying to minimize some stuff :).  I just sent some test emails and my stupid light doesn't come on.

Yep - been reading.  Nougat for some reason the pulse light will only come on if you notification has sound associated with it.

BTW - the month widget recommended above is great.
Thats interesting. Gonna have to try that out. I do have sounds associated with my emails but I do not with Voxer (chat client) but I do get a pulse notification for it.

Curious to find out.  My phone is on vibrate also.   I've seen the light work but not right now :)

I am not having the same issues you are. Not sure if its a setting or not. I am running 7.0 & Inbox
Hmm. I downloaded an app to test the light and it doesn't come-on at all.....

Edit: Booted in safe mode and cleared my cache appears to be working again.   I think I narrowed it down to the Messenger+ app.  The only Verizon software I kept LOL

Just got my XL today.  I've been all in with the Google ecosystem for a while; Google voice, hangouts, Google Now, etc. so the big changes for me are primarily with the Nougat upgrade.  I used the Google Now launcher on my Note 4, so it's pretty familiar looking. Here are few quick thoughts,

-it is a little heavy, as heavy as my Note 4.  I thought phones had been getting lighter? Oh well not a big deal, but your fingers tend to get tired holding it for long periods.  Just like my Note.  It has a nice feel though, and the slenderness is better for 1 hand grip.

-its a tad smaller and thinner than my Note.  The top and bottom bezel are large, but we all could see that

- nightight feature immediately seems easier on my eyes, and I would tint the sreen down before.  *GAME CHANGER*

-the finger print scanner is very responsive

-overall very snappy

-customized with the live earth wallpaper, with live cloud data, and a blue Google keyboard theme

-using the Google calendar widget on the home page

-i miss the Samsung back button on the phine.  It's going to take getting used to on screen software buttons

-i had to cut down my sim card to make it fit the nano sim slot Opening the sim card holder was a pain as well.

-the new cord type seems cool.  I like that it's oval so you do not have to flip it in a particular direction.  It charges very fast as well.

- battery has been pretty solid.  I have been using the phone since 6am streaming radio, regular browsing, a little video, and I still have 25%.  I don't think I will need to bring my charger to work.

- there is a pretty cool swipe feature on the finger print reader you can turn on.  It allows you to swipe the notification menu up and down

- i added the percentage to the battery, you need to enable additional settings

Yes the system tuner.  Oddly enough this seemed to fix my light issues.  I read some 3rd party apps mess with the LED light, lowered those apps to 4 instead of Auto. Been working great.

I didn't know about the swipe feature - will have to try it out.

I love the split screen.

After about a week with the phone, I can say overall I'm very pleased.  A couple things I don't like.  I downloaded BlueMail to manage my non gmail accounts and it's pretty close to what I have been used to.  I am really enjoying my current setup for the time being :)

If I could get the settings and app drawer background dark without screwing up the icons and other colors I'd be set!!!

I just googled how to do this.  Very slick & easy to split.  I didn't use the split screen feature as much as i thought i would on the Note, so maybe I will now.
LOL - I can't find the option. I just long press the the recent app button :bag:

Absolutely love it! Sadly nobody uses it so its worthless. The fact that Google cant get Allo/Duo/Messenger/Hangouts to work together as one app is by far my biggest complaint with their OS.
: goodposting:  I like Hangouts. I see no reason to go to a new messenging app.  It does video, calls, text.  Most of their other apps only do one of those things.

I use hangouts as well simply because I can text from a browser. Most of my android friends use it and as you said, does it all. Sadly Google for some unknown reason is moving away from it.

I think it has to do with WhatsApp, which has a huge global market share.

I have actually given all their other apps bad reviews, and mention that hangouts does it all.

Duo works well.

I actually like the Verizon messaging app.

Btw. Chrome  just updated and this website looks 1000 times better.

You guys can customize your app drawer if you buy and run an alternate launcher like NovaLauncher.

I used to want to organize my apps, but then I started just typing the app name into the "google bar" and it usually brings it up after 2 or 3 letters.

Pixel Peeps.

Quickest way to set phone to vibrate.  I miss that app in the dropdown.

Curretnly it's press volume, touch bell

I'm still not happy Google split out text and hangout messages. I like having all messages from a single user in one feed.

I wish they would add the fingerprint reader scroll feature to other applications.   It would be cool to be able to scroll up on a page while holding the device in one hand.

Eta without using thumb

Ok - starting to dig the Cards/Google thing :bag:

I have traffic, weather and a couple teams I follow
Wait until it starts picking up your search terms.  You can pretty much just swipe over the left screen to get all your news.  It knows your interest.  It also does some pretty cool stuff with your calendar & vacations.  It tells you when you have a trip coming up, what time you need to leave to get to airport, etc.  Then when your at a location it shows you places to eat, photo locations, etc.

It also reminds you to pay credit card bills.  It skims your emails to know when a due date is coming up.  Hell, if your wife sends you an email telling you the kids ball game is at 11:00am, it will ask you to add a reminder.

Bow down to our Google overlords

My wife had two separate Moto Z's with headset speaker issues. We returned them both and now she has an S7.

Haven't seen complaints of this issue so just wanted to report.

After several days using it, by far the best feature is the fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.  It's just such a natural way to unlock & wake the device.  Disregarding the security, it's just an easier motion than having to place your thumb on the face.  And, it reads great.  It's very fast, and recognizes your print from any angle, and at any direction.  This feature alone makes the phone well worth the money.  #gamechanger #iphonekiller #Note7Killer

The camera is every bit as good as the reviews say.  After a night out of snapping Halloween pictures at various light settings, I am blown away.  I was taking pictures other people wouldn't bother to take because they knew the shot would suck., Like with the sun behind.  Picture looked good, and then autocorrected it in Google photos, and it looks great.

@Quez (and other Nougat users) how often do you find yourself using the app shortcuts?  My launcher supports them on Marshmallow, and I kinda love them, but they are limited at this point.

I haven't used them either.  There are so many ways to get from point A to point B, that I haven't seemed to have integrated the feature into my use.  For example, the shortcut on maps app to navigate.  I always say "ok Google... navigate home" instead.  Partially, because I'm so used to doing things a certain way, I forget about them.

Eta* just explored the apps with this feature.  May come in handy for keep, the phone dialer (fav contacts come up), calendar, and clock.

The one I want, and do not have, is the lay Store.  I would like to go straight to My Apps for updates and such.  Oh, and the Chrome Incognito window one :oldunsure:   I think that one may only be on the Chrome Beta app now though

Just checked, I have chrome incognito already.

Crap, maybe that is just something that could not be back ported to Marshmallow.  I guess I'll have to wait for the OS update ;)
