Anyone getting one of the new Pixels? The XL 2 looks nice but not sure about $950 nice. Waiting to see what the Mate 10 delivers when announced in 2 weeks. Not looking to upgrade the OP3T until maybe late next year unless of course the OP6 wows me.
The specs look great. Glad they brought back the front facing speakers. My buddy's opted for the regular version vs the XL. I'll probably grab an XL2 when the Pixel 3 or 4  comes out. My Nexus 6p is still going strong. Phones have really plateaued.

The Mate 10 pro has my attention... I expect t to be $900 though too :(

So updating my own post

Like previously mentioned.  I haven't had a tablet in year. So far - for the price this thing is Great.

Very snappy - works well for what I use so far.

Screen is really nice I think.

Feels solidly made

2 negatives so far.  The back and tab buttons at the bottom are not back lit.  Pain in the ### sometimes when its dark.

It could be me but I feel like the volume and power buttons are "backwards"  I just feel like they should be swapped.

Overall it was well worth the $220 I spent - I think.

A couple other issue I'm having has more to do with its a tablet and not a phone and some of the apps I'm used too work a little differently than I expected.

Anyone foaming at the mouth to pick one of these up? Looks good but still not enough of an upgrade to get me out of my OP3T. Maybe next year in a 6T if they finally decide to put in a higher resolution screen and an under screen fingerprint sensor.

Oneplus 5T
Pretty sure my upgrade path has a 5T in it before year end...

I got the Moto G5 32GB no ads version from Amazon in gold. I really like it so far; it feels premium and extremely snappy. I kinda don't want to put a case on it cuz I like the color and finish, but I'll order a thin clear case for the minor scrapes and dings.

What are you guys using for Texting nowadays? Textra crashes all the time for me and looking for something new.

TIA

What are people using for to do or reminder apps? I have 3 or 4 things daily that I need to remember. Also once a week reminders and one off tasks. Snooze function is important because I may be in the middle of something when it goes off and need another reminder in an hour. I've tried a few, but hoping for something better. I've even gone back to using a paper and pen with reminders to check my to do list.

Sucks getting old. Wonder what people did 30 years ago.

I try different things, too. Lately trying Bixby on my Note for random voice reminders on the fly.

But for to-do lists with or without reminders, I like Google Keep with the checklist option. When the reminder goes off, it lets you snooze for an hour or set a new time.

Also can remind you when at a certain location. For timed reminders, can set to repeat daily/weekly/monthly/yearly.

Same. Never had a crash. I also upgraded to the Pro version a while back. Using it so much, $3 was well worth it to never see an ad.
Oh yeah, I did that a long time ago, too.

Good app & very responsive developers -  I just remembered I had a small annoyance one time when upgrading my phone and sent in an email.  The issue was actually a phone setting (not the app) and a developer wrote back quickly and let me know how to fix it.

I'm thinking about getting a pw manager for my phone because right now if I forget a pw I have to get it off my home computer, which only helps me if I'm at home.

What are some recommendations for a good one that is free?

I don't use one, but maybe consider paying a few bucks for an app that you are willingly handing all your login information too.

OK, I'll take suggestions on those, too.

I feel like this has been addressed in this thread previously.  Here' my issue that seems to be increaing.  I have guys I am texting with in a group thread.  Things will go fine until one of them suddenly stops getting messages.  At least one of them has an iPhone (I have a moto g4).  Is there a messaging app that prevents this to any degree?

Honestly, I don't know why they just can't email as typing an email on a phone is no different than typing a text, but some people just can't get past that I guess.

+1 :goodposting:   Big fan of LastPass.  I believe you can use it for free, or at least you used to be able to.  Not sure, I've been paying for the premium level for a couple years now.  It has an app for your phone, extensions for your browser on your pc.  Works really really well.

Is there any reason to upgrade to a samsung s8 or s8+ from a samsung 7?

Verizon has pretty good deal going on today.

I think Google / chrome do this.  Chrome has saved passwords for a long time, but Android recently started doing it for applications.

Upgraded to the Pixel 2 XL a few days ago.  This thing is #######' amazing.

Battery life is crazy.  Last full charge was 1d 14h 7m ago with 5h 19m of screen on time and 2h 1m of voice calls and still with 11% charge to go.

Zero complaints so far.

Yup I'm a few days in and like it.

The trade-in program thru Google was amazingly easy.  I normally sell my phone's thru eBay and this was way better, no fees, no shipping to worry about and I got more than I would have selling on my own.

I bought a cc case to try, it's awful, after only a few days I'm done with it.  The xl 2 has rounded screen edges and all kinds of crap was getting in the edges between the case and the screen so I'm attempting to go caseless.

The LTE signal in my office is better than on my pixel XL which is a big bonus for me.

One thing that's got me already is no head phones jack, went to watch something at lunch the other day and nowhere to plug in without the adapter that comes with it.  Problem for me is I normally leave it charging while watching stuff on my phone and I can't do that now unless I use Bluetooth headphones.

I need a great used or referb android phone, unlocked, CDMA or GSM, for less than $200 for a Christmas present.  Any suggestions?

I went with this Spigen Rugged Armor case and am happy with it.  Not having the issues you have been.

Tried a couple different tempered glass screen protectors and have sent them all back.  No one makes a decent screen protector for this phone yet.

Time to revamp my phone situation, I think. I normally go the refurb route and keep a phone phone, a streaming phone, and sometimes, a back-up for when one of the others croak.

I've got an HTC One M9 on the way. Still deciding if it will be the phone phone or streamer. I did notice that I could get a Pixel 2 for $15/mo ($360 over 2 years) through Verizon (haven't used an upgrade in years).  I've been on the refurb wagon for a while now, and I'm generally opposed to dropping nearly $400 on a stupid phone. But I only got a year out the current phone (old Moto X), so maybe it's time to spend a little more for something that'll last longer.

Anyway, 2 questions......Is the Pixel 2 really, really awesome? Alternatively, what are the best $150-250 Android Verizon options these days?

Thise looking for refurbs I'd recommend the original pixel still if you can find a good deal.  Still an awesome phone, I'm running in a refurbished due to water damage screwing up my first one.  That's the only downside, it's not waterproof like the Samsung's.

I love my Pixel '1'  so it can't be worse ;)

Looking for opinions on the Moto X4, which I am considering for my son's first phone (he just turned 13) for Christmas.  We would add it to our Google Project Fi plan.

Amazon has the phone (with lockscreen ads) for $280, and the current Fi promotion is what looks like a slightly different version for $325.

Does anyone know the difference, if any, between the Amazon Prime version (here) and the Project Fi version (here)?  The Google version is called the "Android One" moto X4.  Some folks seem to think that means it will be better at getting updates?  I think the Amazon version comes with some Prime apps on it, which is probably ok since he has an Alexa dot and our family is totally plugged into Prime.

Make sure the amazon version works on Fi.

The Android One version should get updates from Google, the Prime version will get them from Lenovo (which has an, ummm... less than stellar record with updates).  I have the Amazon version of the Moto G5+ for my daughter on a $10/month Red Pocket Plan.  It works well for her and I was able to disable able most of the ads (all of them before the last update).  The X4 will be an all around better device, and should be great for a 13 year old's first phone. (make sure you add one of your fingerprints to it - lol )

Dumb guy with a smart phone question

I have a Moto z play. Love it. Battery life is awesome.

I keep getting a message at the top of my home screen that says my cloud is full, and asking me if I want to buy space. I don't.

I've deleted a ton of pictures, didn't change a thing.

Help?

Eta: when I take pictures, it still saves them in my gallery

anyone?

first stop using Verizon cloud

Second have you logged in to the Verizon cloud to see the storage?

There is no free cloud storage on Verizon accept for contacts.

Your 30 day trial probably ended

The more everything plan may still have 25gb free.

You need to open the cloud app
