All Android/Google All the Time (1 Viewer)

I'm already so familiar with touchwiz that its a pita to go to the Now Launcher.
Best thing about Now is that we have Now when swiping left instead of Flipboard. Agree that touchwiz isn't too bad, but Now is obviously quicker.

Anyone download the new Gmail apk?

Have it on my Moto X and the new material design looks really nice. Also now, you can sync multiple email accounts with Gmail, not just your Gmail account anymore.

What's weird is I also downloaded it on my Nexus 7, but can't get it to work. Once I download it and open the file, Pocketcasts opens up.

I have the new Gmail. like it quite a bit. I can't seem to sync with my work email though. it's a education account and we use Google to host it but for some reason it is not working.

I will say I like the redisigned Gmail app more than Inbox.

finally upgraded my phone from my atrix 4g which was on gingerbread to a galaxy s3 mini (ATT version) which runs android 4.4.2

even though s3 mini has similar ram and processing speed to the atrix, this is a way better experience.

camera is better, battery better, android 4.4 is definitely improved from 2.3.6, the loading is faster.. bluetooth and gps are much faster

overall seems definitely worth the $140

I put Now widget on top half of front screen. Apps on bottom and to left & right pages.

I like seeing the now stuff right away.

Now is more than weather, and it continues to get better. Just try it out for a month and turn it off if you don't like it.

let me know when it has reached maximum awesomeness and i'll consider turning it on.

but in general if it's a potential battery hog, i try to leave it by the wayside, unless you tell me google now is delivering porn to my inbox and knows that i like women with big naturals

ok.. well a battery hog where i don't get enjoyment out of the hogginess it takes.

I like my weather widget.

But for instance I won't use the stock facebook or twitter apps because they are hogs.. tweetcaster and Fast Pro take no resources

I think it's pretty great. It uses your browsing history from chrome to show you new articles based on your searches. Your travel time to return home. Recent Amazon orders and a link to tracking. You can get your stocks loaded in there.

Haven't noticed any change in battery usage.

posted this in the oneplus thread but I switched to SwiftKey keyboard. Big fan.
i bought swift and liked it... then i was frustrated with it and bought swype and it's much much faster and better

although both are RAM HOGS... I mean MEGA HOGS

?

Dont think Ive ever seen it use more than 2-3% of my battery over the course of a day. And I am a FREQUENT "what's using my battery guy"

Guys.............. It's happening................

Google is uploading their entire Lollipop source code to AOSP

SO. DAMN. CLOSE.

I guess I saw it slow down my multi taking with its heavy ram use.

Got the Nexus 9 yesterday and thus far I love it (coming from the Nexus 10). New Gmail looks and feels fantastic, faster than the 10, 4:3 ratio is a bit odd for some games but great for web viewing. Well worth the $$

Google now is showing where I am supposed to go to vote since it is election day in FL. Someone should of told them Invite absentee.

I need to buy the wife and I a new phone - suggestions pls.

We currently have galaxy S3's that are almost 2 years old. They are on their last legs - her phone can't hold a charge for more than a few hours (not a battery issue, it seems to have some sort of short where it draws power too fast), my touch screen locks up periodically, and my side button doesn't work. It's pretty much all related to my wife abusing these phones - one was dropped in the toilet, one had the touch-screen smashed and I replaced.

anyways, I'm not convinced we need a flagship phone as we are not really power users - map, browser, facebook, etc are the only apps we really use a lot. not a whole lot of media, not a whole lot of gaming, etc. A nice camera is definitely a plus. What I really want is something that is fast, responsive, and durable.

I feel like the S3 is a bit big as it is - I don't want anything bigger than this. Also, as I need to buy two of them, I don't want to break the bank.

Right now I'm leaning towards Nexus 5. Anything else I should be looking at?

S5 should be cheaper as the holidays approach. Get a newer device or it will start slowing down before the contract is up. The better camera tech in the new devices & battery life is well worth the money.

Moto G

With ATT's new pricing policies (i.e. Next and general shift to paying for phone vs paying for data) is there a good online source to buy a phone?

moto g camera is garbage
Did they improve it in the X?
the x was always better but still not a great camera. they improved the camera on the 2nd Gen moto g but it is still really crappy
That was my impression too from online, just curious. Almost went the X route with Republic Wireless, but it seems the battery and camera on it were pretty poor. Plus relying on Sprint's network.

####***! I missed HTC's Nexus 9 flash sale :hot:

on the plus side, Google Voice MMS has been reported to work with Verizon now, which means it should work on all major US carries.

So there's that

P.S. double :hot:

Nexus 9 taking a pretty good beating in early reviews. Looks like a bust. Probably would have been fine as a $200-$250 device.

What are some of your favorite apps that fall outside of some of the standard apps that almost every phone includes... something beyond e-mail/social media/podcast/sports scores/weather/calendar/browser

For instance anyone using any fitness apps they really like? Games? customization? time wasters? standard usefulness/awesomeness?

for me:

Games - just 2 - chess time and quizzup

fitness - company called rittr labs makes a situp, pushup and squat app and I like those, also have a running app called rundouble with a Couch to 5K plan that i haven't started yet.

zedge - ringtones/notification tones/wallpapers

money - mint for keeping track of accounts

I was just going to ask if anyone has any sports apps that are alternatives to theScore. I used to like it, but now it takes forever to load and I have to hunt around to get the score of interest. Really wish there was a lighter faster version of this app.
