Finally got the update to my Nexus 7. Still tinkering around, but it seems faster.
Not so lucky here. Applied the OTA update on my Nexus 7 2013 wifi. And now couple minutes after bootup the system resets and if left alone is in a continuous reset cycle. The only way I can keep it running is if I start-up in safe mode. I was running stock Kitkat with factory bootloader/recovery but I was rooted. It seems it is resetting when some background app is loading. I've uninstalled most all of my root apps I can think of with no luck yet. Ugh!
NOOOO! Don't ever do an OTA if you're rooted!

I've done it successfully multiple times going from JB to Kitkat, and then a couple of kitkat minor updates. Because I left everything stock it wasn't a problem, it just required re-rooting afterwards each time. I do have a full titanium backup of all apps and data I made ahead of time just in case.

Verizon is a pain in my butt. My contract is up 12/12, so to break early is $10, for certain devices. Not the Note 4. To break contract is $125, to finish it out is $140, to pay the insurance is $100. Note 2s are selling for $120 on eBay.

So the rep told me I can add a line for $40, share the data and the extra line cost will be pro-rated and should take me to +/- $60.

What a pain.

Why not break it and go to another provider?

Contracts suck. I haven't been on one in years. I buy my phones outright on eBay, and then sell my old device to cover some/most of the cost. It usually costs me $50-$75 out of pocket and I don't have to jump through any hoops.

I hate the new gmail app so far. So cluttered and busy, can't pick the content out easily with my eyes. Maybe this was their way to get us to switch to inbox, just make the gmail app as cluttered and ugly as that one.

You can do this on contract exactly the same. He was just trying to get the subsidized price.

i didn't even have gmail app loaded on my phone. Got so annoyed at that app trying to take over my phone once upon a time, I just deleted it. Gonna give Bluemail a whirl.

ETA

Bluemail works as good as the old stock mail client, if not better. It's free and I can turn off conversation view. So far so good. I have Yahoo and Exchange (Office365) accounts on there. Separates them nicely just like the old client.

Has anyone tried the Fit app that automatically installed?

I didn't get past the permission for access screen cuz I hate giving away location info. But I'm not a secret agent or anything so it's not too big a deal if it's worth the health benefits.

I've lost 5 lbs since I installed the app this afternoon.

Just finished 3rd marathon after turning app on one month ago. Gotta go now and bench press my car.

Running smooth on lollipop now. Figured out the wifi profile manager app I was running was causing my reset loop. The app ràn as a background service to priortize saved ssids to auto connect. Rerooted using cf-autoroot.

Finally got into the Note 4. Nice device.

I ordered the JOTO bumper case & got a glass screen cover.

Mine is a Verizon one. I love it

first screen protector I ever had ftr

Not sure if they make one for the Note, but the Body Glove Tough Suit is the best case I've ever used. I've had my S3 for 2 years and it looks brand new when I take it out. Not a blemish, nick, ding or scratch.

It adds as much bulk ad an Otterbox but it's built like a tank and is cheaper than Otterbox.

I finally had the chance to check out the new iPhone at the Verizon store. The big one is like the 2014 version Zach Morris phone. They made the white frame/ bezzle WAY too big. The note has a bigger screen and the phone is smaller... apple had 4 years to work on a larger device, and that is what they come out with?

I got the body armour glass screen cover.

:lmao:

you people and the damn conversation view.
:goodposting:
Can't stand conversation view. If that makes me old, so be it. But it's horrible. Hate that L will make me go download a third-party client to avoid it. If Google can allow you to shut it off on desktop email, why not on mobile?
put me in the old camp. A lot of times I can tell if my email needs to be read from the sender and subject. I'm anal with un read mail. I just have a little extra work to do now to make sure it's all read.

It also kicks me out of apps randomly. Total fail of an update. They better fix it quickly.
ota or sideload?

Did mine OTA yesterday,a nd it's snappier than ever... no kicks out from apps... and msot improtantly, they FIXED THE "ONE SECOND FLASH OF CHROME/FACEBOOK" when I exit out of any app...

Also havent had the wifi issues...

The ONLY issue I have so far, is I really dont like the lockscreen "tap twice" crap... when i hit the power button I want to put in my pattern, not hit power, swipe up, then put in my pattern

Seems like a small issue, but really annoying and unecessary

There is absolutely no difference between sideloading and OTA, other than how you get the file to start updating. I sideloaded both my Nexus 4 and 2012 Nexus 7. Lollipop runs great on the Nexus 4, but not so much on the 7 (the 2012 is long in the tooth, and has a bad memory design anyway).

As for the lockscreen issue, I think Google's intention here is that you should be able to see your notifications on the lockscreen first, then you go through the unlocking process. A quick search reveals that you are not the only one complaining about that.

I restarted my nexus5, and the problems were fixed. But it was bad for a while.

Scrolling up and down in fbg threads is still choppy though.

odds are, and IM guessing, you have some sort of incompatible app that is causing these issues, or many of the issues in general for ppl

if an app isnt yet updated for Lollipop it could wreak havoc on the system.

Im a minimal app kinda guy. The basics and a few necessities for me. No issues, whatsoever

I some games, but minimal apps.

I may switch to chrome for my browser and see it's smoother.
