All Android/Google All the Time (2 Viewers)

I wouldn't be in such a rush to update the S5 even when it does come down the pipeline.  2+ year old phones and current OS updates usually do not mix well.

Oh, thought we had a dev on this forum I was unaware of.  What device?
Nexus 6p and  Pixel C. Runs very smooth, apps are super quick. Multi window is great on the tablet, not so much on the phone. Direct reply is very nice, the new tab picking in Chrome is much better. Did not care for the new double tap zoom feature as I often double tap in games, tying etc. Had to disable that until they give a better option.

Can anyone point me to a phone number blocker? I can block the number but can't block voicemail. I get 5-6 messages a day from telemarketers. Being on the DNC does nothing for me,

Please help!!

My Note 4 is performing like crap after updating to Marshmallow.  Crashing, laggy, etc.  I may try and factory reset tonight. I'm noticing crashes specifically with the Amazon app & Snapchat.  I also froze once going from camera to gallery.

Mine randomly reboots since Marshmallow. I think usually if my cell signal goes bad. Annoying.

Power button seems to be going........ Almost everytime I push it to turn it off, it pops back on, push it...... off. on, off on.......

Anyone have any info on this?

Happened to my wife's phone.  The flick trick helped for a few days (quickly hitting power button with finger or boucing it off hard surface), but then it was quickly useless.  At ~$200 for new phone, I didn't bother to spend $80 to get the old one fixed.

Yea, I tried hitting it off a hard surface and that worked for a bit.

Probably time for a new one. Thanks for your help.

Is the 5x a decent phone?

may be a dumb question but why do you have to turn it off? Just got my first smartphone recently (LG G4) and i think it only has been off once when I forgot to charge it and the battery died.

I don't mean fully off, just hitting the button to turn the screen off to save battery

I had a similar problem with mine a while back. Basically the power button is stuck, which makes the phone think that you are holding the power button down. I fixed it by jiggling the button (it's a bit loose) until the internal component unsticks itself.

I'm in the market for a Nexus 5x myself. I just like the uncluttered android system and fast updates. Need it for T-mobile.

The 5X is a good, not great, phone. If you read reviews you'll see a lot of people knocking it because it doesn't have the latest and greatest specs, but I think people just like to complain.

The finger print reader is terrific. The camera takes excellent photos. Never had an issue with speed, RAM, or memory. It has a plastic body and doesn't look fancy, but if that doesn't bother you then I highly recommend it.

If you look around, you can find deals on the 16GB version for $220-ish or the 32GB version for $250-ish.

So my Verizon Note 4 broke when they pushed out the marshmallow update.  I had an original one, and read there may be motherboard issues.  Anyways, after speaking with 3 different people at vz they finally sent me out a new one. They kept trying to get me to upgrade, but I was going to dump them if they were unwilling to replace.

My Note 4 stopped syncing with my google calendar.  I'm not sure if it was at the same time as the last update (I'm on Sprint, I think it's been a while), because I was convinced my wife's phone was the issue.  She has an iPhone and we share a google calendar.  The stuff I added shows up on my phone, but not hers, and vice versa.  I finally checked from a third source, and it can see her updates but not mine.

Looking on the innerwebs, I'm not thrilled with the fixes.  Clearing the cached data of the calendar appear to be one of the fixes, but I don't love that.  I add stuff to "my calendar" that only pertains to me, so she doesn't see reminders I've set up for myself.  If I clear the cached data, I assume that all goes goodbye.

Anyone else have this issue and have a fix that doesn't involve starting from scratch?

Are you using the Google calendar app, or the Samsung calendar synced with Google?  Bad things happen during upgrades for almost 2yo devices.  My Note 4 broke as soon as I started using Marshmallow.  it could be the Samsung software, Google, or Sprint.  This is why I am highly considering a GoogleFi Nexus for my next device.  These carriers / hardware manufacturers probably take so long to get the upgrades because they have to upgrade all of their apps nobody uses Everytime a new Android version comes out.

I'm using the Samsung calendar app.  I'll try the google app, or a third party calendar app and see what happens.  Thanks for the ideas!

ah...thanks. Thought maybe you were supposed to turn them off every so often (reboot) which I am not doing.
It certainly doesn't hurt. I guess I never really turn mine "off", but I'll turn it off and then back on every so often. It helps with any apps that are not acting right or if they're sucking up battery.

Bought my son the new Motorola G4. $200 at Best Buy with a $50 gift card.

Tell me again why you wouldn't do this as opposed to spending $500+ for a "sexier" smart phone.

I got mine this weekend, but found that I need the new nano sim cards. Gotta wait a few more days to get that delivered.

Hmmm, I didn't know the Nexus 5x had a different type-c charger. D'oh.

Now I need an extra dongle to use micro-usb cables. =/

Upgraded from Nexus 5 (2013) to the Nexus 6p 64gb and enjoying it. I was thinking of jumping ship to Samsung, but the Prime Day deal kept me with Nexus and I'm happy I did.

Setting up a new phone was never easier since my contacts, calendar, and apps were synched with my various Google accounts.

The phone itself is super fast and the battery life lasts pretty long. I wish I could get a true sense of how much improvement vs my old phone but Pokemon Go has been draining my battery, but I can easily go from 0700-1800 on a charge.

My one compliant with the 6p is that the power and volume toggle are on the same side and placed right next to each other so it's easy to hit the wrong button. Also, I hate that the placement of three buttons is right in the middle of the phone. It's easy to inadvertently hit them when you're just trying to grasp the phone since it is rather large. If they moved the power button to the opposite side and placed the buttons on the upper 1/3rd of the phone it would be perfect.

So a great phone for $300 less than a S7 Edge.
