Great run, fellas.
Why aren't you in on this? Focusing on the league?I highly doubt that.
Please let him be your penalty kick taker. #neverforget19942.05 Roberto Baggio
I feel like I have to complement Eusebio with a creative playmaker who can also score. I like scoring goals and at the height of his game, Baggio was the best in the world.
Baggio/Eusebio give me a 1-2 punch that should allow me to score goals against anyone. Plus Baggio was a wizard on free kicks, and Eusebio can take penalties.
"Roberto Baggio was the best Italian fantasista; he was better than Meazza and Boniperti, and he was amongst the greatest of all time, right behind Maradona, Pelé, and maybe Cruyff. Without the injury problems and the difficulties with his knees, he would have been the very best player in history."

Arguably #1 remaining on my board.2.9 Ronaldinho-Left Wing
He was really, really good and for a while was in the discussion for "best Brazilian not named Pele" of all-time. He just really fell off over time, though. The 2006 World Cup disaster, then exclusions in 2010 and 2014 really hurt his rep.Arguably #1 remaining on my board.
I think people tend to forget how good he really was.
We are just playing a single tournament though, right? We should be considering these guys on the basis of their best period - or is this a life-time achievement type of thing? He was really, really good and for a while was in the discussion for "best Brazilian not named Pele" of all-time. just fixed it
You are drafting Arsene Klopp as your manager, aren't you? Please, nobody take our player
you have no idea how much this means. the team fit is soooooooo perfect
I have taken both of my guys assuming it's at their best. Maybe we should have declared a year like wis?Ronaldinho had great skills, but I do think his actual resume is a bit thin. Two Ballon D'Ors, but really only 5 top notch club seasons. One World Cup title, but as a contributor and not as the acknowledged star. One Champions League title. Two La Liga titles. One Serie A title in a year where he did nothing for Milan. Some bad flameouts at the Olympics.
I was going by overall track record. We are just playing a single tournament though, right? We should be considering these guys on the basis of their best period - or is this a life-time achievement type of thing?
Should be interesting to see how it plays out - my criteria is basically how would they compare to each other in their peak (as opposed to how they compared to their peers).I was going by overall track record.![]()
believe me...his rep wasn't hurtHe was really, really good and for a while was in the discussion for "best Brazilian not named Pele" of all-time. He just really fell off over time, though. The 2006 World Cup disaster, then exclusions in 2010 and 2014 really hurt his rep.
I think everyone should value players how they see fit. There's no one formula to doing this. Some will value team accomplishments. Some will value flair (if you're going to show voters a YouTube video to make your case, Ronaldindho is obviously going to fare great). Some will assume that older stars couldn't do the same things against modern athletes. Others might not. Some will try to take the team shape into account and others won't.I have taken both of my guys assuming it's at their best. Maybe we should have declared a year like wis?
Also, I like the idea of reuniting the two Rons on my attack. Romario would have been slightly better imo.
Details are on the front page. The simulation is loose and based on the poll voting results. So selecting players that score well with voters with help you, as you'll be more likely to get positive results and avoid negative results. But there is still a healthy amount of uncertainty and luck. It's nothing so concrete as a WIS league. But you will be running some sort of simulation, right? Will that be based on a certain year from the players?
