Any news on Burress? (1 Viewer)

Any New York homers have anything on Plaxico? I'm starting to get worried....I drafted him last weekend as (a hopefully) solid #2 WR behind Reggie Wayne and then grabbed Curtis as my #3 (16-team league).

I am almost regretting taking Burress over Calvin, but I think he can improve on his 65-catch, 10 touchdowns from last year. Does anyone have any new information on the bum ankle? I know he is OUT for this Sunday's game. Thanks...

He's just a lazy bum. He sees an opportunity to sit out practice and take it easy for a couple of weeks and he's taking it. Reading the NY papers it doesn't seem like Coughlin is worried at all. He just knows he can't rip players as much this year for fear of losing this team from game 1....if he hasn't already.

Burress is one of the worst attitude guys I've ever seen and I would hate to have him on my team if I was on the Giants.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It doesn't sound like anything serious. There's no reason to rush him back at this point and risk having something linger into the regular season.

that may have changedALBANY, Aug. 17 — Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress will not play in Sunday’s preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens because of an ankle sprain, and one of his backups, Sinorice Moss, could also miss the game with the same injury.

Burress has not practiced since Aug. 2, and Moss sat out Friday’s workout, which was the last extended practice before the game Sunday.

Coach Tom Coughlin said the team would wait until Saturday before making a decision on Moss’s availability. Moss, a 2006 second-round pick, missed all of last season’s training camp and 10 regular-season games with an injured quad muscle.

Burress’s absence continues to be a source of concern for Coughlin because he wants his first-string receivers to work with Eli Manning in the preseason.

“We need the timing work of having Amani and having Plaxico with Jeremy and the quarterback and with the runners, that type of thing,” Coughlin said earlier this week of Amani Toomer, Burress and tight end Jeremy Shockey. “So that’s where I think we’re a little behind, in our timing.”

Burress also missed much of the Giants’ off-season conditioning program when he could have been catching passes from Manning. But Burress has played down the significance of missing practice time or the need to work on the timing between quarterback and receiver.

“I know what to do at the right time,” Burress said Tuesday. “Timing has never been an issue with me.”

Toomer agreed with Coughlin while still supporting Burress’s position.

“Plaxico has played together with Eli quite a lot, so I’m sure it won’t take too long to get things back,” Toomer said. “But the coach is right. It’s definitely important to be out there.”

Might he think that Manning could use some help with his timing?

Sounds selfish to me.

STEVE SMITH!!!!!!!

If he could do well versus a first string number one cornerback I'll be real happy!

Grabbed him 3.01 in my dynasty draft a couple months ago.

Smith has, most of the summer/spring. Amani and Plax have been out.Smith has been backing up Amani and really sorta following him around. I imagine that's the plan there, don't you?

Mix should get some significant action Sunday

Plaxico Burress returns from ankle injury

Plaxico Burress (ankles) returned to practice on Tuesday.

Plax missed over two weeks with a sprained ankle. He returned to make two big plays against CBs Gerrick McPhearson and R.W. McQuarters in practice. Don't downgrade Burress in fantasy leagues because of the lost time. Aug. 21 - 5:43 pm et

Veteran WR Amani Toomer, almost miraculously, seems to have put aside the challenges from Sinorice Moss and Steve Smith (the team's last two second-round picks) and has made spectacular catches in almost every practice. Toomer underwent knee surgery at midseason in 2006 and he will be 33 the day before the season starts.

Giants WR Plaxico Burress left practice early with soreness in his ankle.

Burress isn't expected to miss time, but he only been back at practice for two days after missing two weeks of practice with a sprained ankle. Hopefully this doesn't linger.
