Anybody have a TI-89 graphing calculator they want to sell ? (1 Viewer)

Double check to make sure the TI-89 is allowed. It has some features that automate some of the processes taught in pre-calc, so some teachers and schools don't allow it.

The TI-89 is also considered too powerful for admissions tests like the ACT and SAT. Students using TI-89s during those tests are supposed to be kicked out of the exam and not have a score submitted.

If the TI-89 is allowed to use in the class, go for it. It's a powerful machine. But a lot of pre-calc texts are written with the TI-84 in mind.

thought the TI 83 was the go to calc for that level
You can do just about everything pre-calc requires with a TI-83. There's a few bells and whistles on the TI-84, especially the newer TI-84s with full color screens, that make working with them a lot easier.

If you move on to Stats or Calc, you'll want at least the TI-84. Those classes are where the separation between 83/84 are more noticeable.

Good call. You can get through pretty much differential equations with a TI-89 if you knew it well enough.
