Anyone hear a rumor of Aaron Rogers to ATL? (1 Viewer)

This is one of those "friend of a friend" deals so PLEASE dont take your doubts out on me.

My good friends boss swears that he heard an internet rumor that the Packers are in discussion with ATL to trade them Aaron Rodgers - for what he did not know.

It would make sense from ATLs point of view but for the Packers, I just dont see it. If AR is traded there is absolutly nothing behind Brett Favre. ATL does have alot of nice pieces on their roster and GB has the cap room to bring someone with a higher cap # in but who would it be?

All I want to know is that if anyone else has heard this. If so, have you heard whom the Players are that are involved?

Some guy with a blog made up a rumor that the Pack would send Rodgers (+ more) to Atlanta for Alge Crumpler.

It's nonsense, but if you want to read it go here

I think it's it's nonsense because I don't belive Atlanta would give up Crumpler for Rodgers. Green Bay needs a TE in the worst way and Algernon would be a great fit and huge upgrade over Bubba & the other slugs GB has rostered. The problem I see with this deal is that Atlanta probably has zero interest in Rodgers, heck even Green Bay has almost zero interest in Rodgers and they drafted him.

(Packers)Rogers was loved as a pick and is highly regarded now. In between it was awfully shaky. I don't think Atlanta or any team would pony up whatever high "price" the Pack would want for him now.

I know the Pack and several other GMs think Ingle is better than just a #3 QB. I would figure he'd be a more likely trade possibility than Rogers right now. I don't think either will be traded.

IF Favre retires after this year, they want a camp battle. They want one to push the other in competition and don't want to regress to poor QB play once Favre is gone. They're well aware they've been spoiled (in a way)to have Favre play so well for so many years and that's their plan. Rogers is the favorite but it's all about getting him ready.

:)This would be interesting though, considering how GB acquired Favre. Circle of life and all...

While Rodgers may have been "loved" nationally as a good pick because he slid so far, I think it's safe to say that he's been a bit of a whipping boy amongst Green Bay fans who believe that Ted Thompson "wasted" a high draft pick on a backup when he should've used it to get Brett some much-needed offensive weapons to finish out his career. That said, Rodgers has really come a long way and there have been a lot of positive vibes around him this training camp. While he wasn't spectacular during Family Night, he never got a chance to dance with Driver or Jennings. He seems very cool in the pocket, knows the offense and has a better arm than expected. The Packers won't trade him.As for Ingle Martin. He's horrible and could easily lose his job to Paul Thompson.

besides the fact that this rumor is made up, Rogers has virtually no game experience, so for the Falcons to trade away their best receiver for a QB that has yet to prove himself in this league is ridiculous. I'm not sold on players based on where they're drafted. Great players come from all rounds and many 1st rounders are total busts. Rogers could be the second coming of Roger Staubach or Tim Couch ...
