Two example in the last day:
1. My mom was sending some frozen blueberries back with me, I had a six hour drive so I said just put them in this styrofoam cooler with an ice chunk they should stay frozen. She then proceded to load the cooler with a couple quarts of warm beans, a couple bags of lettuce, and some dishes (wrapped in paper) straight from the cupboard she didn't need anymore. I say "Mom with all that warm stuff you're putting in the cooler there is no way the blueberries stay frozen". She disagrees and says "yes they will I'll just wrap them in this (warm) newspaper first". I quit protesting, it's no use. End result: Blueberries partially thawed when I get home 6 hours later.
2. While I was gone on trip to moms, wife gets call to gather together 4 dozen cans of soda for baseball picnic. She says she put the ice in the freezer and tells me to just put them all in cooler a couple hours before we go. I go to get ice from freezer and its about 4 dozen cubes, one for each can of warm soda. I make emergency run to store to get more ice.
I don't think women understand have a clue how much ice is required for coolers. Do not trust them with this job, it is best left to men.
