I remember when Bud Adams bought the Oiler for a few hundred thousand. And wasn't the Vikings worth like 600 million when Ziggy bought them? Not trying to be funny be are the Dolphin really worth that much more?

On a side note I think its about time us FBGs own a REAL team. I think we might have 1.2 billion between us. Right???

At LEAST 1.2 billion. Probably closer to 10 billion. No, the Dolphins aren't worth 1.2. That's a garbage franchise.

Ask a few years ago and the 49er are perennial contenders and a blue chip franchise while the Patriots are a perennial joke.

You don't base the value of an NFL franchise on their current record.

Homer: [reading] Project Arcturus couldn't have succeeded without you. This will get you a little closer to that dream of yours. It's not the Dallas Cowboys, but it's a start. Drop me a line if you're on the East Coast, Hank Scorpio. [stops reading] Aw, the Denver Broncos!

Marge: I think owning the Denver Broncos is pretty good.

Homer: Yeah, yeah.

Marge: Well, explain to me why it isn't.

Homer: [sighs] You just don't understand football, Marge.

:( The Stadium just got a facelift (although I question the $250M pricetag), and they host another SB in 2 years.

I really wasn't asking to be funny or to say that they suck but I just hadn't realized that the franchises have gotten that expensive in just a few years. Didn't think that had gotten into the billions yet.

Definitely a valid question. But I think Dolphin Stadium is a big part of the answer.

Huizenga bought the team for $128 mil just over a decade ago, which means he got a pretty solid return on the move. Heck, he could have dramatically overpaid for the franchise and he'd still make a huge profit. If you believe the NFL is going to keep going strong, then yes, an NFL franchise- *ANY* NFL franchise- is worth a billion, even if you're "overpaying" based on the Forbes franchise value chart. If you think it's at a peak and is going to decline, then no, it's not worth it.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2568057Edit: That was last year, so values have gone up across the board. Surprising to see the Buccaneers had the third-highest operating income, though.
