Are you a Costco member? What do you buy for your household? (1 Viewer)

I bought a 4 pack of solar accent lights. My wife is super picky about lights and these things are perfect. Put 4 on the pool fence yesterday. Changed the whole back yard look. Gonna get 8 more today. They're made by Paradise.

Just bought a box of the cinny, chocolate pb.
I mean, best return policy out there.

I buy the same tortilla chips almost every trip, and just had a bag that was weirdly not great. So I'm gonna tell them next time I go and expect my $3 or whatever back, no questions. I use the policy as my reason to try things all the time, and then return or throw out and tell them if they weren't to my liking,

I don't get an alignment with new tires unless the old ones were wearing bad or something.
Maybe you don’t get one but don’t you want them to check?  You just spent 500-1000 on tires and don’t want to find out if there’s going to wear unevenly?

They give you a warranty. My kids car wore Michelin Premiers out in 22000 miles. They put four new Defenders on for free.

I'm pretty good with cars anyway so I'd think I'd know if it needed an alignment. I can do tie rods and all that.

the protein bars were 10 bucks for 20 bars.  I sampled the cinnamon roll version at the store. I'll be fine.  I do agree that Costco return is very generous, but I go there that often to deal with that.

Shopping at Costco sucks but the worst is spotting someone you know there.  Yeah... lets spend 15 minutes talking about what a great deal you're getting on a 36 pack of socks.

Samsung 65-inch 4K TV for $1,179 plus a 36 pack of socks along with a delightful 15 minute conversation with my neighbor regarding the wonderful deals they got that day.

What? I'd go just to walk around. We swear they pump something through the vents. It's like euphoric.

THEY ARE REMOVING THE $1.50 POLISH DOG and SODA FROM THE MENU AT THE FOOD COURT!

(adding an acai salad, keeping hot dogs tho)

   :wall:    :censored:   :censored:   :censored:

Keep the Polish Dog Petition!

Costco: 1-(800)-774-2678
I've never stepped foot in a Costco (never lived near one once I was of age that I'd shop at Warehouse Clubs), but from what I gather, it's a wonderful eutopia with amazing products at super competitive prices, and with extremely well-paid employees. It sounds like the retail equivalent to visiting Oprah's talk show.

From that perspective, where they are magically giving everyone the best of both worlds (except the vendors I'm sure, but who cares about them, right?), I'd think the essentially free Polish Dog is an acceptable casualty.

Its damn near an American tradition! In fact its original owner didnt want his his hotdog/soda offering to change.

When Costco president W. Craig Jelinek once complained to Costco co-founder and former CEO Jim Sinegal that their monolithic warehouse business was losing money on their famously cheap $1.50 hot dog and soda package, Sinegal listened, nodded, and then did his best to make his take on the situation perfectly clear.

"If you raise [the price of] the effing hot dog, I will kill you," Sinegal said. "Figure it out."

Lays Poppables White Cheddar - Got a bag of these things for a party with 2 other couples and 6 kids total.  Huge bag.  The whole bag was gone by the end of the night.  They're like crack.  SO good.  I'm sure they have them elsewhere, but I feel you NEED Costco size to fulfill the demand.

Lol. It’s funny when they refer to the 70 year old as the “younger man” in the story. Also, surprised the didn’t arrest the 72 year old. From the article and the lady at the sample station it seems pretty clear the older man clocked the younger with no real provocation other than his he was balling his fist story.
Me: I hope I'm not so salty in my 70s that I would get in a fight over a cheese sample at Costco
Also me: I hope I'm frisky enough in my 70s that I could throw down over a cheese sample at Costco

Generic Keurig cups modeled on Starbucks are a bunch cheaper and taste probably as good as a K-cup is gonna. Might as well go for Pacific Bold if you don't need that French Press in the morning.

This is why they pay you the big bucks here. This is exactly what I thought...well, the first part, anyway. The second part was a nice touch.

The Kirkland brand K-Cups work just fine for us. They are on sale every 3 months or so as well.

Switched to Costco from BJs a couple months ago. Mainly happy, but there are a couple of major purchases I made that Costco is missing (I think).
Want to make sure I'm just not missing these.

1) Frozen microwavable veggies. BJs had tons of Steamfresh frozen veggies in a 4 pack. Costco, not so much. I can just find large bags of frozen vegetables.

2) Canned fruit. BJs had a few selections of Del Monte canned fruit. Costco has canned Mangoes and Peaches in a glass jar.

Anyone have anything else that Costco conspicuously misses?

I hear they revamped their food court menu. Like they have a double stack cheeseburger for $4.99, a turkey provalone sandwich, a acai bowl, and chili now.
Any of these good?

Turkey provolone is good if it's the one I'm thinking of (on ciabatta bread).  Haven't seen the cheeseburger or chili locally.

FYI, I was cooking the other day and found desiccated weevil larvae in my dried garlic from Costco. A few days prior, the balsamic vinegar had a crazy amount of mother in it (I think vinegar is supposed to say on the label if it has mother in it, and this did not). Very disappointed.

I was checking out and chatting with the check out lady when the return policy came up...she told me people return anything you can imagine. She mentioned Christmas trees AFTER Christmas and then said the worst she ever saw was a man returning dirty socks. He was actually WEARING them and took them off to return them!  ??

Got a great deal on a set of these tires a couple of months ago. They were around $200 cheaper than the local guys.
My in-laws took their car to Discount Tire and were told the needed new back tires.  They decided to get the tires at Costco.  They went in, bought the tires and left the car.  Some time later they called and said “your back tires are fine, you still have life left in them.  We’ll rotate and balance them.”  They did that and refunded their money.  ?  love Costco.

Cheeseburger is okay, better than cheap fast food burger.  I really like the turkey sandwich but don’t eat it any more as I’m trying to cut out bread.  Never had the chili.

Foos court is always packed, but same. My daughter does get a frozen yogurt there now and then. Otherwise i dont really "get it".
6 hotdogs and 6 sodas for $9.  I’m not sure there’s another place I can feed my family a “meal” that cheap that is decent and everybody is willing to eat it.

Don't want to be "that guy" but the Home Depot has the same 2-pack for $9.99 every Memorial/4th/Labor day weekend.

i usually pick up 10 on Memorial Day and 10 on Labor Day because I'm fat and I like BBQ
@mr fruley liked this post today - the same day I said to my dad I can’t wait for Memorial Day because I’m running low on charcoal
