Arrested Development (2 Viewers)

didn't they move it all over the place as well? That kills a show's popularity - thank God Scrubs has survived the same issues.Development was awesome!
Yes they did - I had a lot of trouble keeping track of its schedule. Stumbled upon the final episode strictly by accident.

I think the reason people didn't watch it the first time was because the marketing was so bad. I remember seeing promos for the show, and they didn't really seem to market Arrested Development as well as they should have. Some of the previews of the show almost made the show look like a drama.
On the season 2 DVDs - disc 3 has a blooper reel at the end and part of it is David Cross ranting against the marketing department for not doing a good job marketing a show that won 5 emmy's, etc. Pretty funny.

To this day, it's still my very favortie program that has ever been on television. We have all three seasons on DVD, and watch them all the time.

The ratings on the show were always very good; the critics loved it. It just never found a large enough audience, because it didn't write down to the below average intelligence quotiant of the average 30-minute sitcom watcher (yes, King of Queens watchers, I'm looking at you).
:hey: Best sitcom of all time.

I'm to the last disc on Season 3. Purchasing these DVDs (you can get them bundled through amazon pretty inexpensively) was a great move. I need to find a website that has all the hidden veiled jokes in each episode.

thanks for reminding us how upset we are that they cancelled this show.

It ended kind of too soon. They left some stories opened to leave the option open but the worst story ending was the Gob and Ann one. That was not cool. However, I think George Michael and Maibe should have had a better closing... like she was on the boat or something as well.
Well, I think Michael summed it up best- she may not be your cousin, but she's still family, you can't pursue it. Just leaving it like that was fine imo. It's not a romance.I thought the finale was tremendous.

I have watched this series literally over a hundred times on DVD and laugh each time. Usually finding something new to laugh at as well. Sad its gone.

One of my favorite things was in the first season when Tobias was all dressed up in leather and caught a taxi to go se Gob perform at The Gothic Castle. The taxi driver replies in a heavy Aussie accent, "The Gothic 'astle?" "That's what I said."

He then drops him off at the obvious-to-everyone-except-Tobias gay bar. You can see the last half of the name of the bar on a sign and it says "hole."

I didn't know so many people here watched Arrested Dev. :goodposting:

Hands down one of my top 3 favorite shows of all time.

Great thread!

Anyone know where a Canadian can watch the episodes online for free? The arrested development site on msn shows all the episodes, but it doesnt work for anyone living outside of the USA for whatever stupid reason.

A line I saw today fro Tobias:

"I can just taste those meaty leading man parts in my mouth right now."

:goodposting:

Every time this thread gets bumped, I get a little sad.

I think it's time to watch all three seasons again.

I know this has been done before, but it bears repeating:

Till Death

Back To You

Big Bang Theory

Rules of Engagement

Carpool

Samantha Who

A slew of vomit-inducing contest/reality/game shows

All continue to survive while one of the best comedies ever remains on the trash heap.

My favorite scene is when Gob tells Michael the name of his Yacht is "The Seaward". Then their mom comes in the office and and Michael says to Gob, "Just do me a favor and get rid of The Seaward." To which his mom replies, "I'm right here and I can hear you."

Funny thing is I probably didn't catch the "c-word" joke until about the 2nd or 3rd time watching it. That's the best part about watching these shows. I pick something new up every time.

my favorite needed-to-pause-the-tivo-cause-I-was-laughing-so-hard-I-couldn't-breath moment

was the Analyst + Therapist schtick.

Comedy perfection.

:lmao: :lmao: :excited:

Having a discussion of favorite Plain/Ann/Ham/Ann-Hog moments with a friend and we are trying to remember the context for Michael's: "It's as clear as the Ann on Plain's face".

Anyone?

Just watching these for the first time. How the heck did Fox let this die? Why did no one else pick it up?

Showtime tried to. Had a deal all in place, but then the creator said "Oh, there's no way I can keep up with the hectic pace of doing this show." Which really, made no sense at all, since they could've easily gotten away with the Sopranos treatmen where you do 10 episodes and not have any new stuff for 16 months.
