His postgame interview last night was so sad. I used to laugh, but now I feel bad for him. It just seems like he's depressed.

He's a bad, out of touch coach on a team that has no discipline or leadership that is spiraling into what could possibly be one of the biggest embarrassments of the NFL. I just can't peg whether he just can't coach or if his team is full of bums that don't want to be coached. When I see the close ups of the O-linemen they all just look like they don't care and they just don't want to get hurt. I don't see any heart.I'm waiting for them all to just quit and walk off of the field one of these games.

Yes but they did beat my Steelers. After watching them play last night, I am disgusted that we lost to that team even with all of the turnovers. The NFL should spot the Raiders 21 points at the start of each game.

How on earth did this team win 2 games??

On a related note -- what's the story with Robert Gallery? He was a top 3 pick, right? Are there injury problems, or has he just been a complete bust?

But atleast the Steelers are well coached. They lost that game because Ben isn't recovered yet and they probably overlooked Oakland. The Oakland O didn't beat Pittsburgh, Ben lost that game on his own. I still have respect for the Steelers because of Cowher. Oakland is a joke and makes me sick to watch.Their QB was sacked every 4 drop backs last night! The only worse record is Randall Cunningham's rookie year where he was sacked every 3.8 drop backs.

They were a horrible team/org before Shell got back there. Its not all his fault. I blame Al " I smell like moth balls" Davis, the O cord, and the players because alot of them are just there for a check it seems.

He was the #2 or #3 overall pick out of Iowa I believe. Looks like another Tony Mandarich to me (in other words, A BUST!). Guy is a turnstile.

Bust. They're seriously considering moving him inside to guard, which is ridiculous considering where he was drafted. Given his repeatedly bad performances, I don't really understand why they have him at LT which is probably the single toughest position to play on the line.

They've already tried him at guard and he sucked there. Then they moved him to RT and he stunk it up there. Now they have him at LT, his natural position, and he's no better. They started him out at Guard in his rookie year to "ease him into the game". He just has bad technique and he's not as strong as they thought. The only other place they could try him on the O-line is center.

Art Shell is not a good coach, but who knows if he can even make decisions to play winning football.

He was the only coach that would take the Raider position.

Nobody wanted to work with Al Davis, nobody wanted to be that miserable in coaching.

That is what Art Shell looks like he is - utterly and completely miserable.

It seems to me that the Raiders (Al Davis) have a framework for a football team set in stone that he will never ever vary from.

He believes the Raiders MUST be a team that throws the ball deep and makes big plays.

So the thinking is - if Andrew Walter is going to be a Raider quarterback, he must be able to stay in the pocket and throw the ball deep. The Raiders are trying to make the player fit the system, not to change the system to fit the player. They could have passed in the flat yesterday and worked their way with sustained drives.

Instead they have Walter drop back and get sacked before the downfield plays could develop.

Lamont Jordan actually looked good last night - he powered drives downfield in the second half.

How could anyone get away from that when the weather was so miserable?

Power running without the passing game is not the Raider way.

The whole organization does not have direction or so called Raider Pride.

A starting quarterback should not show disgust after EVERY SINGLE failed offensive attempt.

Actually, in thinking about it - the current Raiders are the most offensive team I have ever seen.

This team is more interested in being thugs and showing their low class than in trying to win football games.

They should hire Jerry Springer as head coach and Spongebob Squarepants as offensive coordinator.

I didn't realize he'd already been at guard. Wow, that's the very definition of a bust. He didn't get as much hype, but that's otherwise as bad as Tony Mandarich.

He stunk less at guard than tackle. He needs to be moved inside he lacks the mobility needed to play tackle and has poor technique. On a good note for the Raiders I thought the defense played better than most people want to admit and Warren Sap of all players played very well last night. I am a huge Sap hater for years but last night he looked like a guy who was playing with everything he had to not lose this game. The man has pride and wanted to win.

Fixed. And yes, I agree he played well.

I thought the same thing.....granted, I am a disgruntled Jordan owner. But, how do you not give this guy more carries? It's not like you are having success with the pass game, or with Fargas - feed your workhorse. I feel this is the Raiders best chance to win - why can't Shell see it?

The sad thing is that Oakland was in the game, technically, the whole time. Emotionally and talentwise they were not in the game. All they needed was some decent offensive playcalling to move the ball and just get a field goal and I bet the game would have taken a different tone. Once Seattle realized Oakland's offense was gonna be dominated all night due to the ridiculous gameplan, I thin kthey started playing down to the level of Oakland. Had Seneca wanted to scramble more often it could have been uglier. And you know had Seattle gone for it on that 4th down in the 4th quarter when they were in the redzone they would have made it since Oakland's D had packed it in at that point and Seattle was running it down their throats. I think Holmgren was pissed because of the unsportsmanlike knee to the groin and wanted to run up the score but he changed his mind because he felt sorry for Art Shell.

I don't know why Shell or OC was not run the ball but I can speculate it might have been Al Davis wanting to keep trying to throw the ball. Shell is not an ignorant player or coach so if we are seeing something like this clearly he must be; however he might be under "orders" to throw the ball or from Darth Vader or he will find someone who will.
