When I heard this driving into work this morning, the first thing I thought of was how much easier it would be to “shave” not points, but “stats” in today’s sports/gambling orgy culture.
Listening to these clowns on Sirius all week and the prop bet commentators… it is all they talk about. As an example (and I’m not accusing anyone of anything), the SNF game is the last chance to hit big on the Sunday games. These prop bets are discussed and come to a head during the pre-game telecast. This past week the slam-dunk, can’t miss, lead-pipe lock prop bet was Drake London +/- 70.5 receiving yards… the narrative was, “Are you kidding me? PEOPLE, you’ve got to jump on this one! Have you seen how Penix peppers London with targets this year? The 49ers are banged up. This might be a shoot out or ATL blowout… either way, Drake London will have 100 yards by halftime!”
Problem is… it turned out to be Darnell Moooney’s night (and Kyle Pitts, and Bijan outta the backfield). London w/ 42 yds. Hmm…
