Rotoworld) According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, RB Vernand Morency (knee) "will be shelved for another week."

Impact: The pain in Morency's knee is keeping him from making it through a full practice, so DeShawn Wynn and Ryan Grant figure to back up Brandon Jackson. "It's frustrating," Morency said. "You just get out there and do what you have to do to get back on the field as soon as possible and get through the full practice instead of limited practice."

Jackson has a good match up and now should get a lot of carries and receptions out of the backfield. Every one seems down on him, lets hope he can take advantage and get some blocking this week.

I see this as a pivotal week for Brandon Jackson. Last week was his first start against a decent defense on an offense that has offensive line issues, this week against a bad defense Jackson should be able to make some things happen. If he can't due to a combination of poor offensive line play, poor RB play, or both, I'll start to worry and consider shopping him as soon as he does have a high point.

Is he a sell if he's great this week? This'll probably turn into more of an RBBC when Morency returns, right?
I don't know. I don't think it is as cut and dry as that. If Jackson performs well, I think he can stave off a straight-up RBBC situation for awhile longer. I don't get a good feeling about Morency's health, but it is only a feeling. Still if he has 100 and a TD, or a multiple TD game, then I would look to move him. His schedule only gets worse.

September 14, 2007, 14:21Packers :: RB, WRPackers WR Jennings, RB Morency Limited FridayPete Dougherty, Green Bay Press Gazette - [Full Article]The story remains the same on Friday for the Green Bay Packers and their injured offensive weapons. RB Vernand Morency and WR Greg Jennings both are now likely to miss their second straight game because of their respective injuries. Morency has a strained patellar tendon, and didn't do anything during the portion of practice that was open to the media. Jennings, who has a hamstring injury, did minimal work in the early portion of practice.

what exactly is wrong with Morency anyway? Did he tear his MCL? He's been out about as long as it would take to heal an injury like that.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jackson had two TDs this week. I'm tempted to start him over Maroney.
Me too dude. I dont like Maroney's chance vs SD. If there is a game to test this guy, I think this is the game.Even if Eli plays, how good will he be??

I agree. Morency isn't the future of the team (turns 28 the day after the SB) and the Packers have little vested in him like they do Jackson. RBBC isn't out of the question, but teams want to have an every down back.

Brandon Jackson has been weighed, measured and found wanting

ANyone know how close Morency was to playing this week? Curious if he's going to be ready to go by next week.

He wasn't close to playing this week. We'll have to see how he practices this week but I wouldn't expect him to have a huge role in the offense anytime soon. He's way behind due to all the time he's missed.
