Beatdown at McDonalds...Brooklyn style (1 Viewer)

There were always after-school fights when I was growing up. The difference now is everyone has a camera and uploads the video to the internet. The girl agreed to meet at the predetermined spot for fisticuffs and she ended up getting ambushed by he opponents friends. Race has nothing to do with this. Anyone who says it does, that's about them not the video.

apparently, the 'victim' knew this fight was going down and threw the first punch. Then she held on to the original girl and got some pretty damn good shots in for someone who was getting punched from 5 different people.
In the end, this turned out very very bad for her, but the whole 'don't say anything' reaks of some gang type issue where either retribution or where police involvement would be bad for the gang.

Kids are stupid and inexperienced, they lack perspective due to age. The norms some of them are buying into only exacerbate that stupidity. Additionally, they have been failed by the adults in their lives when they have not been taught appropriate coping mechanisms.

I agree with you on this one. You step into something like that and it wouldn't surprise me at all if you ended up getting jumped (and not just by the people directly fighting). Just considerate it potential collateral damage.
I actually didn't think too much of what happened until the hoodie girl was down on the ground. Hoodie girl had a hand full of the one girl's hair and I thought the beatdown would continue until she let go (and stopped punching). Hitting someone already down like that would be a cause for me to get directly involved if I was there. Until then, I would likely just be vocal about stopping it.

You bringing up the wire is interesting. It's funny how our minds work. People watch the Wire and it's lauded for being "true to life", for it's realism, etc. But then we all (myself included) tip-toe around stories like this because we don't want to offend.

Totally agree. She could have taken any of them one-on-one, or maybe even one-on-two. There was just too many of them to give her a real shot.

OK...so maybe the fight was justified. Maybe the 'victim' was really the aggressor...but at some point, you call it and walk away. My biggest issue here is that it was like 6-on-1. If that's not bad enough, brutal face kicks and head stomps came in way after the girl was clearly not a threat anymore...and worse still (and perhaps most of all) is that absolutely nobody did anything to stop it. It's just a break-down of society in some ways. Fighting is bad enougn, but for most of us who have been in fights before, you know that once a man is down and has tapped out, you let it go.
I get not wanting to be the 1st person in for fear of getting jumped too, but even after the older man in grey stepped in, the shirtless girl was still getting kicks. He just sort of turned around as if to casually stay, "Don't do that." Seriously? I feel like at that point, you need to get a little more active in protecting that girl. The fight is long over. It stopped being a fight after the girl went down and out. My take is that the victim could've probably won if it was 1-on-1, because she took a solid beating from 5-6 girls bigger than her for a good 30 seconds before she went down.

I live a 15min walk from here. A while back the nearby Buffalo Wild Wings had to quit offering a regular wing promotion due to the number of school kids who would go there and start stuff like this. The first step was increased police presence which wasn't effective. You may have read about a dude getting shot to death in a brooklyn subway stop a couple days ago. That stop is 1 stop away from this McDonalds, and is literally under a court building. It's unreal and really sad.
Edit - OOPS I'm wrong I had my McDonald's mixed up. This one is actually not close to where I thought it was.

They had a pre-fight weigh-in video which is making waves on youtube. The funny thing is that the chick in the bra looks 10 years older in the video. Word is that she used to be a heavy drinker.

i'm guessing you do not live in an urban environment? the issue of not cooperating with police could be caused by a variety of reasons, but most likely it is fear of retaliation. the reality is there are no funds for police protection, and most city police will admit this. they can not prevent the retaliation, and unfortunately the majority of the time family members or others will be harmed for this. they also know if they cooperate these girls aren't going away for ever. it is unfortunate it isn't as simple as doing the right thing, but you really need to understand the likely circumstance here

I don't think these thuggee girls represent your average patrons that frequent McDonalds.Was more a statement of Society in general and the type of people that frequent McDonalds establishments, but you're welcome to make it about race if you'd like. That's on you though.
