Alrighty then. These fellas dont seem to have a problem talking here. Not a ton, but some quality stuff here. But the time had come. Im a Pats fan, so I wont begin to offer an opinion yet. We all know why. Enjoy.

that's certainly an opinion fact per BB. did he cheat against Dallas?Who knows, we may never know. what are the chances? No way to measure it, but a tape would tell assuming they were not all destroyed.I don't think they had the balls to tape the Giants though, there were too many eyes on them for that game. Ironic that they lost that one isn't it?

They must be confident that Walsh doesn't have anything on them, since going on the offensive like that will only serve to piss Walsh off, possibly to the point where he will be anxious to expose the Patriots. It took them long enough to make public that explanation, though. This ought to be fun.

I guarantee you they taped the Giants. Just not from the sidelines. What do you mean by the "eyes"? As if NE were ever trying to hide anything to begin with? They were doing it FROM THE SIDELINES for crying out loud. Its not like they were in a bathroom stall shooting themselves in the butt with some dope. Anyone in the stadium during ANY of those games could have seen what they were doing. Just like anyone could have done what they did ( if they had the property rights, of course, unlike this Walsh fellow, who by the way must be a thief in order to be honest in this particular case). Btw, when was the last time NE and Dallas played prior to last season? I cant even recall.

Well, you know those guys needed a decent vacation after that effort. But it works out well, because they didnt steal any of the light away from the Giants in the meantime. And, I really dont think they have anything to hide. Walsh. Poor fellow. He's hired a real winner of a lawyer. This man has managed to use the words predictable, pathetic, and smear all in one sentence. Followed that up with the great 2 word line, "complete fabrication". Nice. That's the representation Im looking for. Good job, Levy. No wonder Walsh needs indemnity. Apparently, he's got a publicly funded lawyer working for him.

It's been awhile and not very many times overall. http://www.atsdatabase.com/Stats/NFL/Dalla...ll-Results.html

Wait, so the Pats film guy must've had on his Patriots gear and everything on the Jets sideline, right? I mean, they weren't trying to be discrete and hide anything, so he must've been very clearly identifiable as a Pats guy, since they were being so transparent about this, right?

They had to make sure that Walsh didn't really have anything before they would come out and talk. Kinda like what Clemens did after the Mitchell Report was released.

Bill Belichick broke his silence on New England's twin taping controversies, denying he told anyone to tape the St. Louis Rams' walkthrough before the 2002 Super Bowl

"In my entire coaching career, I've never seen another team's practice film prior to playing that team,"

Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli also told the newspaper that part of the reason Walsh was fired in January 2003 was because he secretly recorded conversations between himself and Pioli.

Translation

Walsh has a tape, we didn't authorize it, in fact it's because of that kind of crap that we let him go.

We know Nothingk, NOTHINGK!

Just to clarify exactly what he said...

In my entire coaching career, I've never seen another team's practice film prior to playing that team," he said. "I have never authorized, or heard of, or even seen in any way, shape, or form any other team's walkthrough.

Take him at his word (I know its hard to do with BB) and he doesnt admit to much.

1- Why would he have another teams film? I know people will want to imply he meant it a different way, but lets just take him at his word. He would/should never have possesion of another teams film. What he may have (and what he doesnt say he hasnt had) is his teams own film on another opponents practices.

2- He sates he has never done anything with a walkthrough. But what about a standard practice? Or illegal games recordings? Nope, he doesnt go that far. He is trying to refute it (as per Pats media/emands) with as much leeway as possible if he held accountable to his own words.

Very Kraft-y.

And the biggest whopper of them all

"I respect the integrity of the game and always have and always will,"

That's why he runs up the score, That's why he runs off the field before the end of a game, that's why he makes a mockery of the post game hand shake.......Integrity. BB is steeped in it.

Bob Ryan was right, they went from most admired team with 45 guys running out of the tunnel at once, a team to be emulated by Pop Warner coaches, to to running up the score, and acting like an arrogant jerk, at some point Kraft has to step in and say enough.

Do we REALLY need another thread on this?
You are honestly kidding, right? We have literally thousands and thousands of web hits on the subject of spygate, cheating, illegal videos and tainted legacies, etc, etc and neither one of these guys has said really much more than a peep publicly about it. They finally do and you dont think it deserves a thread? Right. Nice call.

It should be in the Spygate Thread, that's where it belongs.

It's now clear to see what the NFL and The PATS are going to do with Walsh.

That's why they are having difficulty coming to terms on Indemnity.

Walsh has a tape, no doubt about it now.

They are going to claim that he did it on his own, and that's why they fired him, for unauthorized recording.

Then they will claim he is lying, and testifying untruthfully, revoke his Indemnity and sue him for an absurd amount, one that he could not possibly pay, and high enough to keep any other network/publication/entity from paying his legal fees. Probably a Gazillion Dollars.

Then it will all go away because they will have thoroughly discredited him, despite never having to address the evidence, which they had no prior knowledge of, but now possess. Evidence that was filmed by their employee, using their video equipment, on a company paid business trip.

And everything will be fine, except Bill Belichick will still be a cheater, and the NFL's Image will still be tarnished.

Quote from the article:

Belichick felt the Patriots' actions were in compliance with NFL rules, saying, "My interpretation was that you can't utilize anything to assist you during that game. What our camera guys do is clearly not allowed to be used during the game and has never been used during that game that it was shot."

So what other rules that seem pretty clear to everyone else are open to interpretation by Bill Belichick as to whether he follows them or not? Is he going to utter the famous words 'depends on what your meaning of the word is 'is? So with all we know about this guy; cheating, homewrecker, pressuring players to play with concussions, being a poor sportsman, etc...I ask you Patriot fans when is enough enough? When are you gonna stand up and demand some class from your coach?

Patriot fans, please don't use ANYTHING Bill Belichick says as a personal floatation device while avoiding the Patriots sinking ship of a Legacy. He was told by Kraft to speak with the media and given a script to follow OR else. The ONLY reason BB is out there speaking is damage control and to condemn any recording if evidence is produced.

Yeah, no problem after two weeks of public opinion lynching the Pats...what were they waiting for if its so straight-forward ??So why would Walsh even feel the need to record Pioli?

Mr. Officer, it was my interpretation of the law regarding that the speed limit sign meant that I could go 55 miles faster than everyone else. I apologize for my mis-interpretation of the law.

Bottom line, I broke the rules, no matter what I claim. Wil my family (legion of fans) still believe and support me? yes

Especially since I'm bringing home the family income? yes

It's still cheating. The difference is, if I speed, that affects only me.

BB cheating affects 32 teams.

Uh, there's really no such thing as an "ouch" at this point. An ouch is losing a pre-season game. "Ouches" dont last 6 months driven by jealous rage and beg a league to banish a coach and rename its champions . No sir. That's not an ouch. That's full-blown mind-possession. Belichick's opinion on this rule has been available to us all for 6 months. That rule is vague, and any B-level attorney would have a field day with it in court. The fact of the matter is, there is no actual rule that simply reads, "Teams cannot video tape other teams' coaching signals". Or something to that effect. In simple, specific, letter of the law wording. And the NFL has certainly had years and years to install such a rule. It doesnt exist. It only limits the communication of such video during games. Belichick could certainly be setting himself up as a liar, because he's clearly stated in the article, " What our camera guys do is clearly not allowed to be used during the game and has never been used during that game that it was shot." That's it right there. The meat of spygate. Other teams, certainly not all, and perhaps not many, but others tape signals. Its how theyre used once recorded that can distort that intention.

The SB walkthrough taping is another story. I dont think BB's trying to mince words here. Generally, when you go to the plate with the old, "Any way, shape or form" references, youre trying to make yourself pretty clear. So he's said it. He's said he had nothing to do with taping another team's practice or walkthrough. Ever. It may not be what everyone wants to hear. We may not all believe it. But he's on record, which is more actual information than was available to us all yesterday. Because right now, everyone's a detective. And everyone's John Grisham. And everyone's a co-host of 'The View'. Facts and references are never a bad thing when youre looking to get famous or unsolve mysteries. And so far, we've had little of either.

cmon, free. be realistic. its been 2 of the most devastatingly painful weeks in sports history for these guys. there may be losses equally great, but none greater. Belichick probably got away for a while with some of his buddies and went fishing or whatever he does. Im sure he wasnt exactly waking up and reading the sports page every day, or pulling up FBGs.com to witness the "lynchings". nice choice of words, btw. Give Walsh a call. you'd probably qualify as legal representation. And again, to point out the obvious, the 2 weeks following the Superbowl really should be all about the Champions. it wasnt. Just like this entire season wasnt as much about the Colts as it should have been. that's just how the media works. As far as Walsh goes, we dont really know much about the guy, so what opinions can really be generated about him? But he's coming across as a little cheesy right now. People say NE just wants all of this to go away. Im pretty sure Matt Walsh is thinking the same thing right now.

The rule is about as vague as a 15 ton granite block sitting in the middle of your living room. Jeez, do you really want a coach who's excuse for illegal taping is 'my interpretation' or 'It wasn't for THAT game'? Seriously, please stop defending the indefensible while you still have some integrity left twitch.

With every bit of bile and venom that spews forth from your hatred, my admiration for Bill Belichick and the entire Patriots organization grows exponentially. Not one bit, to my recollection. Its specific about the camera needing to be under a roof, inaccessible to coaches, etc. That point is correct and taken. I was speaking to the general notion that taping coaches signals period is somehow viewed as illegal. Im not defending BB one bit for keeping his guy on the sidelines. he could have had him filming whatever he needed in another location doing exactly the same thing. And all of this BS could have been avoided. But NE won 18 straight games this year without the use of whatever edge that was being brought to the table. I dont place much value in it. And whatever that edge was didnt help them beat the Colts last year ('06 season). or Miami who hammered them 21-0. Both during a 2nd matchup of the season. I dont care how long he's been doing it. Ive said it before. I'll say it again. if its good enough for Bill Cowher, the Rooneys, Andy Reid, and countless other men in professional football who actually know things, its good enough for me. But that's just me.

With every bit of bile and venom that spews forth from your hatred, my admiration for Bill Belichick and the entire Patriots organization grows exponentially. If I cared more, I would build a shrine of your HATE as manifested in all the relevant threads, and post it as a testimony to the bigoted of this world.Have a great day!
Ah, the ol' 'circle the wagons cuz it's us against the world' routine that the Pats like to truck out during adversity. This may actually be closer to the truth than ever for the Patriots. Sports related, what's more despised than a cheater? All fans of the NFL except those few Patriot fans that are still trying to defend this, are aligning themselves against the Pats on this and most are insisting this cheat be banned from the league. Haters; I don't think so. Fans who want the games to be as honest as possible; yep.I don't hate the Patriots; in fact I rooted for them in 2001 after they beat the Steelers. I fell for the whole Sept. 11th deal and thought it felt right to root for them. Now we find out that they taped the Steelers that year in the regular season as well as the AFC Championship game (not to mention 2004 same thing) so now I'm pissed. Put yourself in the teams' shoes against whom your team cheated; wouldn't you be upset if your team lost to a team that knowingly cheated and has been for several years? I've called for the Superbowls to be vacated but I would settle for just having Belichick banned to restore integrety to the league and the Patriots.

Walsh has a tape, we didn't authorize it, in fact it's because of that kind of crap that we let him go.

I find the bile spewing forth actually makes me feel better, as it is such a naked exposure of how objectified some peoples worlds are.

The only thing better than this experience, is basking in the open honesty of Belichick, and seeing Matt Walsh exposed for the fraud that he is. News Flash - even if you want to lump Pioli in with Belichick and the other "satan"s of the world, you've still got to deal with the fact that they've got other employees willing to step up and call this guy out for attempting to frame or otherwise besmirch the organization as part of his termination.

This is a GREAT DAY for Patriots fans.

And for truth.

That's kind of how I read it also. It's consistent with the NFL and the Patriots working hand-in-hand to treat Walsh as an enemy. They previously hired an ex-FBI agent to investigate him to --- gosh, I wonder why they did that. It couldn't be to dig up things to use to denounce him, could it? Then they say they're offering him indemnity if he'll talk to them and hand over what he has --- but their indemnification language is limited and will easily allow the Patriots to sue Walsh without the NFL providing any protection at all. So what's next in the PR campaign for the league and the Patriots? Personal visits to, and signed autographs for, the committee members before the next Congressional hearing? Calling current and former team members to "refresh their memories"?

Im a Pats fan, so I wont begin to offer an opinion yet. We all know why.
Because youre Bill Belichick's puppet?
Ah, another satisfied customer. Dont you have some rings to polish? :goodposting: Seriously. Arent we all puppets to some degree? Doesnt some loyalty to one thing or another demand this of us? To our dogs when they attack the mailman? To our kids when they cheat on a test or steal from the liquor cabinet? To our spouses when they run astray or ruin the family credit? Or do we just write them off? We wash our hands clean and forget about 'em. No. We tend to NOT give up on people. Generally speaking. Apparently, football and the New England Patriots are immune to that condition. Competition, winning, high scores and jealousy all factor in to some degree. Which I understand. Hate should really never, truly enter into it. Its a fun word to use in sports. It just shouldnt really be applied. Literally. jmho.

oh, so a "Belichick Enabler" would be more appropriate? :lmao:

What about a former Offensive Coordinator like Charlie Weis? OC for Pats 2000-2004; he'd know about as much as anyone just how much 'material' was gathered on opponent's defensive setups. This is one avenue I've yet to hear someone show an interest in but seems plausible he might talk if a subpoena was issued.

works for me. Im sure I could be called far worse. Labels. We stick 'em on things, but most of them tend to fall off or fade away in time. ;)

lol.. and when he states, "he has no recollection of all of this spygate stuff".. you would have another name to add to your HATE list

This is a good first step for Bellichick

All he needs to do is admit:

he stole a dying man's million dollars

completely lied to the Jets as he was about to be introduced as "HC" - shameful use of a player who cheated death as a reason why he wasnt taking the job instead of....

had an under the table agreement with NE

Had an inappropriate relationship with a married secretary

Sent her cash in Fed ex envelopes - sure the IRS is pleased with that

Treated his protege like Darth Vader for wanting to strike while the iron was hot and be a "HC"

Acts like a jerk to the media and anyone who covers football

Refuses to call Mangini by his name to the press

Physically assaults a photographer for having the audacity to do his job

Stormed off the field in a show of poor sportsmanship 101 in the biggest event of the year

Oh yeah - - -and he cheated for years based on a misinterpretation?

As I said - a good start but a LONG way to go to step up from slime to pondscum IMO......but thats just me!

Please turn down the goofiness from all sides on this please.J

The New England Patriots' taping of opposing coaches' signals did not affect the outcome of games against the Steelers, including two AFC Championship games, Steelers chairman Dan Rooney said Friday.

"We consider the tapes of our coaching staff during our games against the New England Patriots to be a non-issue," Rooney said in a statement. "In our opinion, they had no impact on the results of those games."

Mr. Rooney understands he is part of the NFL (like it or not) and must stand shoulder to shoulder with Goddell in this lest he lose millions by fans suing the NFL and possibly even the Steelers (we know lawyers will go after ANYONE who they think will pay). The NFL owners have to keep a sense of legitimency to all the prior SB or else they lose massive revenues in PR and sponsorship. Same with Cowher saying 'it didn't affect outcome'. He's part of Network broadcasting so he's not biting the hand that feeds him. Mike Tomlin (the Steelers current headcoach) thinks there is something to all the rumors; 'Where there's smoke, there's fire.'Go back to the quote from Hines Ward in the 2001 Season AFC Championship; "Oh, they knew," Ward said Wednesday. "They were calling our stuff out. They knew, especially that first championship game here at Heinz Field. They knew a lot of our calls. There's no question some of their players were calling out some of our stuff."
