Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not practice for the second straight day Thursday, but he should be fine to play in Jacksonville Sunday night.

Ben Roesthlisberger QB PIT: Characterized as "questionable", Roethlisberger is going to play despite the shoulder still being sore after a cortisone injection. The Steelers will max protect him and shift the gameplan to a conservative one. That's good for Mewelde Moore and Hines Ward.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) ― Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But Roethlisberger says he will play even though he is still being bothered by his shoulder.

On Friday, Roethlisberger was limited in practice which means he really has not done too much all week which is the plan.

He knows the playbook and the coaching staff wants to make sure he's not overworked in advance of the game on Sunday night.
All info at this point looks like he is a go, but remember it's the SNF game so you couuld be left high & dry if he's not.

Yes. He played w/ it last week. It looked like it hurt pretty bad, but he was able to make all the throws he needed to and threw them well.

anyone have any news on why he WOULDN'T play this week? He made it through the game last week without coming out for injury or anything, did something happen in that game they just didn't tell us during the broadcast? Any news from Pittsburgh homers would be very helpful, what are they saying on the radio, etc?

He only practiced on a limited basis Friday of this week and Adam Shefters report that he will "try to play" are what scares me rom starting him. It's a night game and most rosters are due before the early game.

He will play, and the "questionable" status is because of the rules regarding the injury report. They have been trying to rest Ben's shoulder, and holding him out of parts of practice from what I understand. Because of being "limited" in practice, they have to list him as questionable.

The trick part is that he plays on SNF. I worry that he stiffens up in warm ups or something like that.

Aside: I don't want to go with JTO over Ben, but I don't want to take a zerp either...

Why don't you want to go with JTO over Ben? He's outperformed him all year.

Because I always overthink things. My fear is starting a QB in just his fifth start against a Bellichick team for the first time with NE coming off of a bye. I just assumed they would shut JTO down. And they did make him look bad (low yards, low comp %, 3 INTs), but I didn't guess that he would still throw for 3 TDs.On the other hand, my thinking was that JAX doesn't have a good pass rush this year, PITTs would be forced to pass with all of the injuries, and PITTs would go with the no-huddle offense. After 1 quarter, in my league scoring, it's JTO 13 and Ben 4. If just breaks even, I'll be fine. The problem is that my opponent has the Jax defense, so the pick six was painful and any more INTs will be doubly painful (4 pt swing).
