Ben Watson Owners: Week 15 Waiver Wire TE Matchups (1 Viewer)

I guess I should of went with V.Davis or Stevens. :cry:

I'm leaning towards Tony Scheffler now. I need to roll the dice a little this week with my match up and Scheffler I think give me the best chance of getting a couple of short yardage TD's.

 
Yeah, I got whammed twice last nite...

I played Seattle defense = 0

...and elected not to play Stevens over Watson :goodposting:

Man, I hope Watson is ready to play or I'll probably snag Scheffler.

 
Ben Watson has practiced this week but has been limited. I don't know why everyone thinks he won't play. I'm planning on running with him until I see if and when he is out.

The problem is New England isn't very informative about injuries so we have to find a backup plan.
 
what valhallan said. plus, since i have him in both leagues, and it is the playoffs, i personally want to have given it some decent/advance thought if i do have to replace him.

Ditto... Sat Davis ( weather ) and started SEA :boxing:

I already picked up Scheffler. I'm sure he'll pull a hammy in warmups.

 
WEll, after passing on V. Davis and Stevens because of the weather, which was a pretty bad choice, I'm now deciding between Scheffler, Winslow, and Utecht. Leaning towards Winslow....

 
Ben Watson was seen wearing a pressure sleeve on his injured left leg during practice Friday, in which he did not participate.Watson appears unlikely to play this week and several reports have him possibly missing multiple weeks. That may be good choice. Ruvell Martin, Green Bay's #3 receiver, is out with a bruised chest. They my have to use Martin as a slot receiver.

A dinged up Winslow vs. a scary Baltimore D? If Utecht is available, I'd go with him. There's going to be a ton of points scored Monday night, plus, it's always nice to have a guy going Monday evening. Good luck either way.

Since my Qb is going up against a weak Detroit defense and I have to choose among a bunch of TE's that are equal on paper, why not go with one that can double-up with my QB? With GBs WR corps taking a hit injury-wise, I expect Martin to get a few more looks and perhaps give me a score. His chances of doing that are as good as any of the other TE's on my league's WW (Scheffler, C. Baker, Wiggins, etc).
 
For those of you deciding between Scheffler and Utecht, who are you going with?

I like Scheffler's chemistry with Cutler and the whole saftey valve TE checkdown strategy but I heard TE Stephen Alexander was coming back this week and Scheffler has only had one good game.

Utecht on the other hand hasn't really had any good games and might just be a primarily blocking TE only? Fletcher might be the pass catching TE?

O yeah, and then there's mr. goosegg Desmond Clark

i am going with utecht....i expect a shootout and the bengals yields the 2nd highest points to TE. that is the way i am leaning.

i see...though i don't really get how the qb impacts the decision; favre will get the passing points from a martin sscore regardless of whether you pick him up. the issue is which te will most likely score the most, period. if it is martin, great, but favre won't score any more points because you added martin. :banned: . good luck !

I hear you...It's really more about the GB injury situation and the matchup vs. a bad D. I still like the idea of doubling up on the TDs...it's nice to ring up 12-13 pts on one play. :goodposting:

:confused:In this situation, it is the right move.You wouldn't DRAFT a TE just b/c you have his QB, but I actually considered p/u Martin a week before my league froze rosters because I saw this matchup if my TE (Watson) were injured. Since rosters are really small, and you simply can not afford zeros at the K spot, I went with a b/u K instead :rolleyes: So, I'm stuck with whatever Watson does from here on out.My point, though, is that it is not a bad move to double up at a position like TE that can be so hit and miss where you have a favorable one-week matchup situation for both the QB and TE.

True. I seem to be a glutton for punishment and am leaning towards using D Campbell in a league I'm also starting Packers D. :lmao:
 
So what's the call here?

Daniel Graham?

Tony Scheffler?

David Martin?

Ben Utecht?

It seems Graham will have plenty of targets. Scheffler coming off a good game and seems to be Cutler's guy. Martin has Favre who is looking to break the TD record (though I hope he throws 3 of them to Driver). Utecht plays on MNF, if that's worth anything.

I was really hoping that Watson was going to be able to go. I've been flipping back and forth between picking up Graham or Uteck. Graham's ankle injury is what's making this hard - I think if he was 100%, this would be almost a no brainer. Uteck hasn't really done much but I like the matchup. Going with Scheffler has that "chasing last week's points" feel, which usually doesn't work out to well.

I was sorta thinking the same thing. I tried calling Cutler last night to see if Scheffler was his go-to guy this week, but all I got was his answering service. Scheffler is a rookie and they won't let them have cell phones on a road trip. I want to play Graham but would hate for him to play two series and come out because of the ankle. Maybe Martin is the call. Or Utecht.

Kevin - Clark is who I'll be dropping in one league for Watson fill-in (Daniels in other)

 
So if Watson is out, he'll likely be inactive....and if Graham is active, it's safe to assume he's starting? I absolutely hate relying on BB, he's burned me too many times, even with in-game decisions (Vinatieri!).

link in the pinned thread has him on the inactive list. have seen nothing yet though re graham starting
 
For what it's worth, I did a 180 and went with Uteck. What changed my mind was the targets - Uteck was tied for 3rd in the league last week with 7, behind Shockey and Gates (tied with Witten and Cooley). That surprised me... Over the season, he's been a 70% + receiver, though, so it looks like he just had a bad game (only caught 3 passes).

With the fact he's playing vs. the #2 TE friendly D that could be a fairly high scoring game combined with Graham's uncertain status was enough to sway me...

When I said a "bad game", I meant the drops (only 42% catch ratio last week compared to his 71% average). He's only had 2 games in the last 5 where he's had 7 targets or better, though, so by no means did I mean to imply that I though he was a "lock". I just like his chances better than my other waiver wire options for the reasons I outlined....

I hear ya. I'm trying to decide between Utecht, Martin, Scheffler and Graham.
 
Was Graham playing a little, at all, blocking mostly, whatever......or did BB do me again?

Can't wait to see what Utecht does tonight. He was already picked up in my league but would have been my choice to replace Watson and Clark.

 
So, this does not seem to be a topic this week. Is everyone assuming he's still out and playing who you picked up for last week? I just picked up Scheffler
