Benson Is Terrible (2 Viewers)

He's lucky Adrian Peterson fumbled in the game today or else he might not be getting many carries next week.
Stop it. Please..... Jerry Angelo's reputation is on the line with Benson. He took him #4 overall. He shipped Jones out of town.

To presume that Benson would be benched for one fumble is ludicrous. He will be given a thousand chances to succeed.
Funny thread.Benson is the fastest in NFL history to 1000.....chances.

As much disdain as I have for Benson I still can't believe he's a free agent. It's gotta be a pretty short list of first round draft picks that go from starter to out of the NFL in the offseason. He's not someone I would build a team around but how can he not at least be on someone's practice squad? He must be a total headcase as there are teams out there that don't mind PR problems.

He'll probably latch on when a team gets some serious injury issues at RB. But before then, maybe not. He's not an upgrade from what most teams already have, and he's a head case. I don't think even Millen would sign him. (In Millen's case, not because Benson sucks, but because he's "soft.")

You go from hero to zero quicker in the NFL than any other sport. Just ask Shawn Alexander, Culpepper etc... I think he's not on someone's practice squad, cuz he probably feels he's still a starter when no one else does.

Unique thing about Benson is he skipped the 'hero' step.

Going from Near Zero to Zero happens even faster!?!?!

he would have to improve to get to Zero :bowtie:

I would submit that Benson's stat line had less to do with him and more to do with the Jaguars unexplainably rolling over and playing dead.

You all can thank me for Benson blowing up this week. I dropped him to the waiver wire to grab a TE fill in for Witten.

cant believe I cut this guy a couple summers ago
Same here. Well no, I can believe it... guy was a bum for 3 years after I drafted him and there was no reason to think he'd ever be any good. It's amazing the turnaround he's had in Cincy. Almost as amazing is that I'm not even that bitter about it.

There was a quote from him last week where he said this time last year he was literally sitting on a couch watching football on Sundays on TV like any other fan (or something to that effect.) Now look at him.

Yeah, LOL at anyone crowing around here. I've got friends living in Midland, TX and they were all a buzz this last summer about the "New / Old Cedric Benson". The buzz was that he gave up the pot and rededicated himself to football. According to them he made the statement, "Man, I've pissed away (lost out on) millions of dollars. I can smoke pot after I retire. Right now I'm going to see if I can get those millions back". Who knows if there's any truth to him making that statement at all, but boy he sure looks like the running back we saw playing in high school around these parts.

From a bears fans perspective, he would not be this good if he stayed in Chicago. he needed to loose almost everything he had, he saw he was on the verge of loosing his lifestyle and that motivated him.

At this point in the season would you rather have Benson or Sjax in a PPR? I have both and have offerson the table for both. I just can't seem to shake the feeling he will find his way back to being a bad runningback. He allready has 111 carries andthat makes me wonder if he can go the whole year w/o getting hurt or worn down. At this pt of the season though I guess I would rather have Benson than Sjax.

Strange as it sounds, I'd rather have Benson. SJax is known for missing a few games a year, so it's not like the injury risk is any better with him. Plus, while SJax is a much better talent, it seems like St. Louis will rarely be in the red zone, which could limit his TDs. He has zero so far. He'll score some, but it does seem like he has a much lower ceiling this year. Having said that, if someone offered me SJax for Benson straight up, I would take SJax out of force of habit.

The offer on the table for me is I trade Benson for Welker--this is a ppr league and I have Sjax, Benson, Rice, & Hightower, Morris but my WR's are Jennings, Cotchery, MSW, Branch and Mass from CLEor I can tradeSjax & Gatesfor Andre Johnson & Owen Danielsthis is why I am trying to decide who will have more value down the stretch Benson or Sjax.

Is it just me or does Benson look like a completely different player? I haven't seen a whole lot of him but to my eyes he's running better than he ever has - including college.

Benson is running like a flat out beast IMO. That big run he had this week was amazing.
I agree, he looks absolutely nothing like what I saw in Chicago. Congrats to him, he has definitely come back with a purpose. I hope he can continue to build on what he has accomplished this year and carve out a nice career for himself. One of the most jaw dropping turnarounds I've seen.
