Simultaneously geeked for the new Earl Sweatshirt and Neko Case albums.
Album with a 17 word title is now streaming
Rules. Better than Middle Cyclone for sure, which I liked. Haven't decided whether I like it better than her older stuff yet,
Seeing her in a couple of weeks. Liking what I've heard of the new album thus far.
Me too, going to see her at the Warfield in SF. Really looking forward to it.

####. I promised myself I wouldn't do it, but I guess I have to hear that ####### Diarrhea Planet album. It sounds too good for me to deny any longer.

Checking out the band Sombear on a whim now. Can't really recall where I heard of them, but they're on my little paper list of "bands that I need to check out". Really enjoying this album, Love You in the Dark.

Kinda ambient electronic-infused pop music. Very chill vibe. Not really sure what to compare it to, but definitely right in my wheelhouse.

The song "Incredibly Still" has shot up my SOTY list.

Apparently there's a "fourth wave" of Midwestern-influenced emo right now. Cautiously excited about this.
Bayside and Brand New are both coming to town soon....Brand New sold out in like 3 days. I liked Deja Entendu when I was 16 when it came out, but these guys still have a big following?10 year music cycles coming back around?

Pretty good album. Great for the office.

I've been enjoying the new Tedeschi-Trucks - Made Up Mind - although I've had a bootleg of the Red Rocks show where they play a lot of the new tunes so it's not all new to me.

Misunderstood

The Storm

Part of Me and Title track are darn good

and as always - Derek Trucks is just awesome

Really been a slow year for music for me. I really just haven't heard a lot that has really hit me the right way. Rough top 5 at this point is probably....

Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City

Charli XCX - True Romance

Sombear - Love You in the Dark

Eleanor Friedberger - Personal Record

Deerhunter - Monomania

Other mentions - Toro Y Moi, Daft Punk, Lorde, Atoms for Peace, Jim James, Portugal the Man, Dessa

Really though those top 5 are pretty far ahead of the rest of the group in my clubhouse at this point.

J Roddy Walston & the Business' new album release next week but streaming here now.

A lot variety on this album. More early rock and roll type songs than I expected based on what Id heard live on previously. Sweat Shock :o

Volcano Choir - Repave - is worth more than a listen or two...
Oh yeah, meant to mention this one.

It's Justin Vernon, so obviously RIYL Bon Iver. It's another one currently streaming on NPR.

They sort of went in a bit of a different, less poppy emo direction with The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, and it's a fine album. They have a lot of respect from post-hardcore fans.

That was their best one, but the follow-up Daisy was pretty off, like they were half trying to channel mclusky or something. One good song on that - At The Bottom. I'll still check out what they do next though.. they're my fave of the emo/screamo kids.

It was. I never gave it another chance after the first listen, really. Thursday is my fave emo/screamo band, fwiw, which is pretty common, I think.

As far as contributing to the thread, there's a CT band called The World Is a Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die -- they put out a pretty good album this year. AV Club gave it a few mentions. It's Explosions In The Sky meets emo, possibly a few years too late, but hey, it's CT. And it's not bad.

:bag: I was way too into the emo scene back in the day. Too bad Matchbook Romance, Thrice, and Boys Night Out have stopped making music :oldunsure:

Taking Back Sunday still plays in Buffalo like once a year. Haven't seen them in years though.

Maybe I will check out some of that Brand New stuff.

Blacklisted and Middle Cyclone are both good. Her music is not going to blow your mind, but both her voice and the mix they get for it are fantastic. And she gets a nice turn of phrase here and a nice hook there on occasion.
