Best fantasy half ever? (1 Viewer)

I think Shaun Alexander had 5 TDs in the first half of that Sunday Night Football game a couple years back, although he may have had 4 and added the 5th in the 2nd Half.

But yeah, for Quarterbacks, I don't think I remember much better. Peyton may have had 5 TDs v I want to say the Saints, around 2003. I remember him having a 6 TD game, just can't remember how much of it came in the 1st half.

An amazing performance by Mr. Vick tonight.

One half worth of work in: 3 Passing TD's, 2 rushing TD's, 264 yards passing, 66 rushing yards and 44.16 fantasy points

In One Half!!

I was down by enough that I swore it off as a loss - I looked up the score and I'm down by 4 with a half to go. The only concern - when does Reid pull Vick....

Peyton vs Tampa in a 4 TD 4th Q comeback plus one in the 3rd.Week 5 2003

There was a Rams/Chiefs game around 2001, if I remember correctly. Week 15 or 16 because it was our league's superbowl. 2nd half was a shootout...Warner, Faulk, Holt, Trent Green, Tony Gonzalez......

Wow!

Brady had a 5TD 2nd quarter just last year versus a depleted Tenn defense. As a kid, I watch Bob Griese throw 6 TDs in the first 3 quarters vs St. Louis on Thanskgiving 1977. Steve Young may have had a monster game passing and running. Lamonica threw 6TDs in a half a long time ago.

I had already won going into tonight w/ both Vick & Santana Moss still to play.

Vick single handedly beat my opponent. I have never seen that happen before. Wow.

I remember that game. I think it was Al Michaels who said at halftime "Seattle won the toss and elected to kick the living beejeezus out of the Vikings"

I can't say for sure about half... but the greatest individual fantasy game ever in my league was Jimmy Smith on 9/10/2000. It was like week two of our first season. Jimmy went off for 15 catches, 291 yards, and 3 TD's.

That came out to 50 points in my league - the records still stands today with Vick's amazing day ending at 47.99 points.

Week 15, 1997, Corey Dillon's rookie season... he threw up a monster game for the Bengals (Thursday night game I think). Can't recall exactly, but I think most of that damage was done in the first half. Finished with 51 fantasy points in our league.

Best of all time by a QB tonight though (that I can recall).

All depends on your scoring system, but our league, now in its 10th year, which is a PPR with no other bonuses:

Vick just had the best day for a QB in our 10 year existence.

Clinton Portis' 2003 game (218, 5 tds, 2 catches, 36 yards) still keeps the record by ONE point.

Jimmy Smith's monster game in 2000 would have our record if it came a year later. 15 for 291 and 3 in a PPR is 62 pts!

But for our league, Vick ends up the 2nd best ever.

Didn't Boomer put up huge numbers in the MNF game where Miami was blowing the doors off the NYJ at halftime and the Jets came back and won?

Curious if Tomlinson has a game in this best ever stuff. I remember some games it seemed he scored so well they let him throw a TD pass just for kicks.

It does beg the question, in FF terms was last night's performance the highest scoring point total of all time. I think it was in our league.

thought of J Smith too. Owens had 20 283 but somehow only 1 TD one week in 2000 too

It doesn't match Vick's performance, but Steve Young threw 4 td passes in the first half in Superbowl XXIX. He threw six in the game and was the leading rusher for the game as well as the leading passer. In the Superbowl!

Unbelievable. Was down 73 going into tonight...with vick and djax i cut it to 12 in just one half!
I was down by 61 points with only Vick. I had cut it in half by the end of the first quarter and locked up the game somewhere in the third. Won by more than 10 points. Definitely the greatest MNF Game in my entire fantasy career.

Don't remember how much of this was in the first half - but I seem to recall quite a bit of it was:

Jerry Rice in 1995 versus Minnesota in week 16 ( 12/18/95) - cost me a championship: :wall: - only still slightly bitter :D

He had 14 catches for 289 and 3 TD's; he also added 10 yards on the ground for good measure ( 1 carry)

Most of Tomlinson big games came in PPR formats. As I was digging for big games last night, I found one that was something like 220 and 3 tds with 7 catches for 52 yards. I also remember an 11 catch game with a couple of TDs too. Steven Jackson also had a pretty big one in...06 (his emergence year) near the end of the year with something like 150 rushing, 12 catches, and a couple tds.

Wasn't even the higher scorer of the week in my league.Matt Cassel - 33 Mike Vick - 32
worse league ever.
:lmao: not sure how it's possible they both had 4 passing TD's.Cassel 136 more passing yards over the 400 plateau.Vick 80 rush plus 2 td'sSo if we go basic scoring Cassel had 16 points for TD's and 17 for pass yards. I'll guess 1 for every 30 with a 2 point bonus.Unless QB's rushing doesn't count. My league TD points increase by distance he put up 83 points. I'll have to check when I get home the "record"

:yes:Had Alexander on my FFL team at the time, and was down 20 going into the game. I was watching the game with the guy I was going up against that week who's also a diehard Vikings fan. Many beers were consumed by him if I recall correctly.

I'm tempted to say your scoring rules are completely broken. But then in my main league, Vick scored 69, Cassel scored 49.

Completely broken? I don't know why my league rules really matter to other people. I was simply posting to show how Cassel was worth more than Vick. Our scoring is unique. Which I like. Unique is usually good. Would I change some rules? Probably. In fact, I've lobbied to have some rules changed and we have had some changes over the years. But the league has been around for 20-25 years under its current format, with probably 7 of the 11 owners being around since inception. It's also a total points league and not head-to-head. Our league is a yardage league. It's a keeper league, but not a dynasty. We have two halves to a season. We have two drafts. It works for us. It also creates strategic decisions in drafting and trading that don't factor in to other leagues. I respect anyone who dislikes my league, though. I'm not railing on anyone in particular here, just stating that I like most of it and so do the other owners.

Good stuff man, disregard my completely broken comment. I like reviewing different scoring systems. And that two halves, two drafts thing sounds pretty cool.No matter what scoring system I look at I find "flaws", even ours. We started giving bonus points for higher passer ratings because we thought it was a "flaw" that a QB with 250 yds 4 td 0 int was outscored by a QB with 275 yds, 4 td, 3 int. And we didn't like giving negative points for an INT so we went with bonus points for passer rating. So in your league...QB120 completions4 passing TDs0 int250 passing yards71 percent completionsgets beat by:QB220 completions1 passing TD4 int350 passing yards62 percent completions

People have mentioned that Jimmy Smith game a couple of times, but nobody has yet mentioned who the other team was. He put up that game against the 2000 Baltimore Ravens defense. When you factor in the quality of the opposition, it was quite possibly the greatest individual performance by any player at any position ever.
