Best pick at 2.9 in a 12 team draft? (1 Viewer)

Okay, i know all the sharks prepare their cheat sheets, and do mock drafts prior to the big day. But this year, i'm having a hard time decided the best player/direction to take at 2.9. For those that have already been in new startup draft (rookies included) any ideas picking here? Ironcially, i feel pretty sure about rounds 1, 3, and later...its this 2nd round pick i'm having a tough time with. Anyone else go through this or am I :banned: too much?

League lineup requirements: 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1RB or WR Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D.

12 teams, 6 pts for running and receiving TDs, 4 pts for passing TDs. 1 pt per reception for all positions.

without any scoring info, if its a redraft/dynasty league or any other information its hard to throw out there..

id say snag another RB, manning plus a few WR's (CJ, steve smith, maybe TO) will go before your pick.. if you wait any longer for a second RB, you will be hoping that someone breaks through the RBBC or a starter gets injured.. since with 3.3 u should go WR

This is REALLY an Assistant Coach Forum Question, but I'll answer.

You have 1.04, 2.09 and 3.04, or picks 4, 21 and 28. 4 is probably Portis, so you have your RB1 (even if it isn't Portis, it will be your RB1).

You start 3 WRs, so you're probably taking a WR at 21 or 28.

The questions are - who's available at 21? If one of what I call the "Big 5" WRs are there, I'm taking one of those. I'm talking CJ, Fitz, Boldin, Holt, and SSmith. If all of those are gone, Is either Gates or P Manning on the table?

Consider what you have and what the others will do. The guys between your 2nd and 3rd pick took a Top 3 RB off the board first, so they are likely going WR/RB or WR/WR before your next pick. If a Top 5 WR is available, better take him now because he's gone by 3.04. Same for Gates or Manning.

I'd rather have Boldin / RB2 or Boldin / #10-15 WR on your board than take your RB2 at 2.09 and have junk for WR1.

WR1 is the likely call if a Top 5 is there. Only Gates and Manning might sway me, but I'm probably ok with a different TE later, and QBBC much later. Hopefully 16+ of the first 20 picks were RB so it is an easy call to take a stud WR1.

Good luck.

:goodposting: In addition, I would urge you to remain as flexible as possible. You never know:If a stud RB drops to you (Rudi, Edge, etc)

If a stud WR drops to you (Holt or Boldin)

If Gates or PManning drop.

With this info, I might go with a WR (only if top 5) or Gates. Then, in the 3rd round, you might have a guy like TO or Rmoss drop to you. I think you have to take best player available, regardless of position. If you go: RB, Gates, Wayne (in 3rd) and Chambers or Djax or Walker in 4th, you will have had a great start.

I am going to give advice in a different direction. This is a great spot to pick the best defense in the draft. Player injuries make a 2nd round pick a guessing game in this type of draft... never know when they will get injured. On the other hand, a team defense always plays no matter who is injured or player movement. I would pick a team defense here because all the top ones should be gone by round 3. Start the run... dont end it.

This is the real deal. Because of the injury thingy. But, if you're inclined to take a risk, then you might consider a kicker here. The top scorer in most leagues last year was Neil Rackers. Guy was unbelievable. Don't let someone steal him from under your nose.

Agreed, could go either way here. Personal preference is defense though.

Defense/Kicker in the 2nd is nonsense. I do agree with having to key in on the injury concerns of players.

I'd go with a steady veteran like Jimmy Smith. People are always looking too far in the future with these dynasty drafts.

WR is usually the best value after the first 5-6 picks. I'd be looking at guys like Boldin, Gates, and Holt. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Pretty obvious you must be in the same league here.

It's just that 2.09 in a 12 team draft is the pivotal pick. It's like who wins the 4th game in an NBA series...it either goes 2-2, or 3-1, and the fat lady has sung. This is a time to make the decision which will carry your team to the championship. It's not the time to follow the herd.

it is a crucial pick, and only an r'tard would take a K or D before the 15th round. funny stuff. Thanks to those that responded with a serious answer. :)
