Best solution this auction problem? (1 Viewer)

So I am trying to start up a dynasty with an in person auction draft. Unfortunately, last minute one of the team owners can't make it. What is the best solution here? The point of starting the league was to have a local group of people so that we could do an in person draft, so ideally the solution would still involved 11 of the 12 getting together.

I could setup an auction via the website that we use, and but I am worried about my router supporting all 11 people's bandwidth necessary to run the draft software. I have already attempted to run a Skype call while having 4-5 device actively using bandwidth and the quality degradation and lag were significant problems.

Has anybody successfully done an auction like this?

Why not just have everyone else present and the "other guy" Skype or whatnot? Seems simple enough. We do this every year.

In our long standing dynasty auction league we have this problem every year. We all grew up together in queens ny but now we have guys out in Florida and Cali.

It's a pain in the butt but it can be done. Best bet is either skype with the computer hooked up to some nice speakers or a conference call on a loud speaker phone where the remote guy calls in.

The remote guys are given a little leeway.

The league does 2 things for every player nominated:

1) BEFORE bidding starts, ask the remote guy if they are in or out on the bidding on this particular player.

2) if yes, always ask them if they want to continue bidding before announcing a player as sold. (Ie "hey jerk off are you still in this bid or out?"). If he is in then have someone not bidding on that player directly talk with them and paying attention to what they say and relaying it to the bunch

Pain in the ### but we do that successfully every year.

We do a rookie auction in a dynasty league in person each year. When someone can't make it, usually we have another friend or wife of a drafter either on the phone with them or on skype/facetime to essentially be the voice for that person. Has worked well every year.

Is it really necessary to run the software for everyone?

Possibly run it on one laptop with some manual input?
Nope, not necessary. Still, I am assuming most people there will be accessing websites, cheatsheets, etc. I have a few laptops, and PC that is wired to the network, and already tested it, Skype quality was pretty crappy to the point where I wouldn't want to rely on it.

I think best option might be to have a speaker phone, and just do double checks on his end.

Thanks for the input.

Don't use your router for all 11 devices. Have a few people set up hotspots on their phones. Maybe 3 people per hotspot. Easy.
