If we assume NFL head coaches can roughly range from age 35 to 70, we'll split the difference and define a young head coach as one 52 years old or younger, a list of which is given above.

 
Tony Dungy - tough to argue with his coaching record. Sure, he has the luxury of Manning now but he also did well with Dilfer at the helm in Tampa.

I'll answer this as a fan ONLY (no supporting documentation or validation of the success/failure of any of those listed) - give me Cowher or Fisher (picked Fisher is a close call) over any coach the Packers brought/bring in. BTW - I was impressed with McCarthy this year.
