First, Howard shouldn't be coaching. This isn't his first offense. Sure, he didn't throw a punch last year in the altercation versus Maryland, but he had to be physically restrained (or he very well may have). He's not a positive role model, and clearly has an issue controlling his temper.
Second, after watching his press conference, I think it's safe to say that he was either in some sort of state of shock, or he's just not very smart. Didn't answer some of the questions in a way that indicates that he even understood them. And, absolutely no remorse (seemingly). He basically said that they weren't pressing (just playing full court defense, which isn't much different), and nothing led up to the punch being thrown other than him being touched during the handshake exchange (which makes almost no sense). Then, he goes on to say that his main regret is that some of the players threw punches also, which he never meant to happen. How about regretting the fact that you threw a punch (or a slap?) yourself?!?!?
All in all, a very bad look, and he seems to be missing some of the most critical points, while focusing on minor/irrelevant details. If he coaches another game this year, I'll be shocked.
