Bitcoin-Explain to me how to buy these things (2 Viewers)

Why don't you recommend?  Have you ever tried to sell HEX?  A big concern for many is how much volume can actually be realized at the current price since so little of it trades.  I'm curious if you've dealt with slippage.
I guess I just recommend putting it out farther to gain more T-Shares/interest.

The interest is huge in hex.  For example.  I have 824K HEX, but with my "interest" I have 1.45MM.  So, pretty big difference.

1 reason I did my latest stake of just 30 days, is to go through the selling process, as I have about $50K coming up in 40 days.

Dude, NFTs are like crypto's version of crack.  Highly addicting.  Seriously, once you start, you don't want to stop.

Within a week, standard crypto investing seems boring to me.

ETA - Here are some tidbits I've picked up along the way.

- You want to be in projects that have a large community - a large community equals excitement.

- Twitter is absolutely the spot to be researching this stuff.  Follow people like garyvee and DCLBlogger to get a sense of what's hot.  Then start participate in a project's Discord.

- stay away from minting your own NFT.  You'd be competing with the uber rich who don't mind paying $1-5K in gas fees during the public mints.  Much better to buy on the secondary market.

- the rarer the item in a collection, the more valuable.  A tool to help determine an items rarity is here

- find newer projects that have some buzz and a large community.  the "upcoming" tab on rarity tools is good for this.  That's how I found out about the Al Cabones project.

Appreciate the insight.  May experiment.  I am on Twitter quite a bit so I’m certainly plugged into the buzz, but probably more ‘general’ in scope than specific.  Not the Discord’s as much.

It’s fun watching you guys dive in though.  Kudos.

In at 51. Rode it down. Should have loaded up. Ill take the gains but kicking myself just the same.
Buy average of $31 for me, but I've sold down to only half of my original position, so living with same regret.

To answer your question, one way I like to assess upside is looking at a coin's market cap and comparing it to its competitors.  In this case, at a $36B market cap, it can 2.5X to match Cardano and 10X to match ETH.  That's assuming neither of those tokens appreciate.  In the longer term (3-5 years), if it's successful like I believe it will be, we could very likely see a $1-2T market cap, if not higher.

OK, I've now plunked down $15,000 on 4 jpgs.  Yup, the same dude who will spend an hour trying to save $10 on various items has spent 5 digits on some cartoon pictures in the matter of days.

Tread in the NFT space lightly.
Been researching how to make them and pretty much figured it out.  Now just need content.  What's your email so I can give you 1st dibs 😉

Son & I decided to try it out. He did the work and I supplied the bulk of the $$.
We went with Colonists and got a couple in each of the 1st 2 species that were dropped recently by getting whitelisted. The remaining 3 species will have a public drop today. May peek in on today's public drop or the secondary market after for possibly completing the collection.
5k of each species at 0.025 eth each, with a promise of a game coming. Thought this was inexpensive enough and the Discord community seemed a little more civilized than most. Liked the way the samples looked. Looking forward to the reveal to see what we got.
Finally found out why people complain about gas prices though. Seen it >$2k at times in the last couple days.

Nice work.  Yes, gas prices are ridiculous.  I'm hearing of people losing $1-3K on gas for failed transactions during minting...and they act like it's not even a big deal.  It's only a matter of time before the masses move their attention over to SOL and ADA's NFT marketplaces.  I need to start looking over there myself, but as I'm sure you're aware, the money is being made on ETH.

I bought into the Doge Pound yesterday, so I'll received a Doge puppy tonight at 7.  The reveal process is exciting.  Good luck with yours.

Good luck on yours too.

In a knee jerk reaction I bought some Polygon. Not a great way to make decisions,  but I'll hold on for now.

I read a pretty good theory on why BTC has stalled out.  So much money is pouring into NFTs and alts that there's no speculative money left to feed the BTC price.  We might not get another leg up for BTC until US regulation becomes more clear so that institutions and big money can feel better about investing.

likely. Can't wait for the NFT crash.. such a bizarre trend

Thinking of clearing out some cash from my ADA holdings and looking to reinvest in some yet-to-pop-but-potential coins.  Any suggestions?  I'm on Binance, FWIW.

Are NFTs future proof? It seems like most NFTs are on decentralized blockchains, but lets say your NFTs are on the SOL blockchain will they always be there or can a blockchain "go under", for a lack of a better word due to lack of popularity or something better comes along. If so, what happens to the NFTs people bought? Can NFTs be stored off chain?

There's not a lot of "yet-to-pop" coins on Binance.US since they carry top 100 market cap stuff.  I think SOL is the most likely to 10X from here, but if you're looking for 100X potential you'll have to venture out beyond Binance.

There should definitely be a way to get your NFT off a blockchain regardless of what happens in the future, whether it's a bridge to another chain or some other means.  Yes, you can store you NFT off chain in cold storage just like you do any other crypto.

Im interested in NFT's, but I think there should be another thread for them.
You may be right on this.  What's everyone else think?  Separate thread or keep them comingled?

Yay it's NFT chat now, thought there was already a thread for that?

So I guess I cant buy/send BTC in Coinbase in the US anymore? What's fhr easy/safe exchange these days? Need to fund a sportsbook account

EDIT: NM just signed up for BinanceUS 👍

BTC sure is doing its damnedest to break through the $50K resistance.  There was some profit taking in the NFT space yesterday so perhaps that money is getting poured into BTC.

Meanwhile.  ALL Crypto is going bonkers  :drive:
Both my "holdings" are at all time highs. I was looking to pull some profits and dump into some other up and comer but the majority of my investment is in Bitcoin/Etherium/Algo/Cardano/Polygon/Solana. I don't see a real reason to rock the boat at this point. If anything I need to dig up some more cash and dump it into those mentioned.

I am still big on Amp, maybe Polkadot? Alchemy? Nothing really jumping out at me right now that I gotta have.

Since converting to a binance.us account from the old binance I haven't been able to complete the verification process. Customer service says it's due to some backup on their end but it's been several months. I'm done with it and would just like to close my account and transfer what's there.

I used DL and it verified in about 5 mins. Odd.

Good thread here on how and why to buy your first NFT.

ty ty ty... this is what i needed.  moving 5k of theta and theta fuel (they've been disappointing) into eth to buy my first nfts. I so want to avoid eth, but Cranks says that's where the money is so this should be fun. I have seen many other ecosystems toting their nfts...

In other news my index fund is a boomin'. Metahero up 600% in exactly two months and I think it's just started. Very long-term project.

I did manage to step away for a week or so. And look, my cryptos are better off without me.

I got into some HERO a couple weeks ago.

I'm a little nervous about NFTs at the moment because I'm seeing a lot of whales on Twitter saying they're either burnt out or think things are frothy.  That said, there's a new project on SOL called Lit Jesus that I'm excited about.  LitJesus

Nice.  What led you to that project and specific NFT?
Had started following the guy on Twitter; liked the imagery specifically on that one, but overall liked the theme of many of the companion pieces.  I'll see what owning what one feels like and how much desire I have to continue to add to the my 'collection'.

I'm trying to buy my first NFT today but gas prices are so high. Do they come down at a certain time of day? or is it just random?
Yeah, around 3-6 AM ET.  It's a function of how much usage there is on the system, which is typically lowest before us Americans wake up.  This is the monitor I use to check where they're at.

ETA - I paid about $50 in gas at 8 this morning, so don't feel as though you HAVE to get up in the middle of the night.  You may have to wait a few days for things to settle to that level though.

So I understand this. You've been following minimaliz. He mints his work and puts in on OpenSea. You liked this Dualism 10 nft. You bought it for .1 eth. There's a link that says Make Offer. I can click on it and make an offer. People are getting rich.

Seems so ludicrous.

Dude, you don't even know the half of it.  I may have mentioned this here last week, but an 'influencer' posts about this crappy black and white photography series whose floor is 0.02 at the time ($60).  Within 3 days the floor went to $10K.  The pics aren't even good.

Why is minting bad? I once had Super Bowl tickets. I was in college in NoCal. Niners were playing the Dolphins. I called local law firms, doctors offices etc. Told the receptionists I was selling the tickets. My phone went crazy. Quadrupled the face value in a bidding war.

What's stopping us from taking great moments in sports - The Catch (thinking of rich 9er fans) - making/minting a pixilated nft of Montana throwing to leaping Clark with Walls a step behind? There's hundreds of these. And tens of thousands of rich 9er fans.

Has the pron industry gotten involved with NFTs yet?

I bet many adult stars could make a killing.

Yes, but not on mass scale.  However, crypto is a huge unexpected boon for adult content "actors".  Bhad Bhabie made $1M in just the first six hours on Only Fans.  Imagine how much some lunatic would pay for the right to say they own whatever content she made during that time.  Plus they can program the NFT to collect royalties on any future sales. It's crazy how much this technology is going to change the world.

I still think NFT are the dumbest thing ever, which means I should probably find a way to cash in so I’m not sitting here in 5 years thinking about it I had only gotten in on it

side note: looked at my BTC transfer logs from 2016 and almost vomited seeing the prices in today’s value

I agree with the 1st comment and feel your pain with the second. I gambled online with $300-500 btc. Oy.

Just about…there was a ‘buy now’ button though.

The reason I did it was to start an experience.  I’ll probably wind up putting 1-2 ETH toward this.  Might also throw some ADA toward their burgeoning NFT marketplaces. I won’t be in a hurry to buy…I’ll likely buy a mixture of stuff that appeals to me and/or if I can catch a buzzy project/community early, something there.

As a concept, I’m all-in in NFT’s,  but my mind can only wrap around at the moment it’s applicability toward real world use cases.  So I’m going to have to get my hands dirty a little to try and get a bit more educated.
