Boldin Injury Update(s) Here (1 Viewer)

The other Boldin thread is getting over run with people talking about which defensive players should be suspended and very little talk about Boldin. Well he is the #1 or #2 WR so far in almost all my leagues so can we get some actual discussion about his actual injury and any news on when he might play ? This is after all a fantasy football based web site.

Seems the latest is that he returned home Sunday night and is expected to make a full recovery but no time table on his return to practice. Please post any updates here.

On NFL live, I heard that he was asking to be taken off the stretcher so he could walk on his own into the ambulance. I also heard on ESPN this morning that he is home and resting. They said he has tests scheduled for today and Wednesday, but is doing well.

I think in the end, the hit was so scary looking, everyone expected him to have a significant injury. From everything I've seen and heard so far, I think he dodged a huge bullett here. If he passes all his medical tests, I get the feeling he is going to beg to play. If he does, that can be a huge motivational tool for the rest of the team. Especially the defense. His coming back sooner rather than later can really give this team a boost it very much needs, IMO.

I would guess he has a concussion, but if it's his first he likely won't miss any game time. Gotta love it if he comes back and plays for the team that won't pay him though...love me some Quan.

That's why I love this guy. Wish all top receivers would take note. Class act.

Yeah it's actually possible to get knocked out and have on "concussion/side effects" and maybe that's what is happening here. Very lucky. I hope he doesn't rush back if he's not up to it. (for fantasy purposes I hope he comes back this week :sarcasm: ).All signs so far are pointing to him being ok

Just ran across this. Dude, Boldin is one tough hombre!

Cardinals | Boldin injury update

Tue, 30 Sep 2008 08:00:08 -0700

ESPN.com reports Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin (head) is fully mobile and was resting comfortably at home Monday, Sept. 29, according to a team spokesman. According to Boldin's father, Carl Boldin, he suffered a fractured sinus membrane and took stitches to his lip, according to the Palm Beach Post. "They did a CT scan that came up negative and he was feeling good, so there was no reason to keep him," Carl Boldin said. "If it was left up to Anquan he would be able to play today. But we have to err on the side of caution. If he's cleared medically, though, he'll play."

I could use him playing on my teams for sure but I hope he sits a week unless there is absolutely nothing wrong with him. I'd feel better "about miss this week put up 100-1+ rest of season" :lmao:

Thanks for the post Silver. I suspect we wont know for sure until Sunday. Although after seeing that replay, almost like anything else he does this season is gravy. Completely unreal if he plays this Sunday, which looks at least possible as of now.

I understand he wants to get back out there, but after a nasty hit like that, wouldn't it be wiser to sit out a week and make sure everything points to him being ok? Give your body more time to mend...

Agreed ... I have him on both of my teams and I would prefer he sits. Fractured sinus membrane and sticthes in the lip ... sounds like that's a good enough reason to sit him.

if he plays this weekend, we may have to rename him "Quan Tidwell"

After seeing the hit, we are just glad he is OK.
Excellent point. For those who don't know, "Quan" is the word that Rod Tidwell uses in Jerry McGuire to describe the "complete package". "Some players have coin, but I have the Quan".Maybe some sportscaster will pick up on this in next week's pregame....

I think the wise move would be to sit him and be cautious, but there's no way he wants that, and of course the team doesn;t want it

he'll play

I bow down to QUAN. He's a warrior on the grass even though he's unhappy with his contract.

If he comes back to play this week, the FO had better call Drew and beg forgiveness.

This guy is out and out my favorite NFL wide receiver. His work ethic is up there with the best of them and his toughness is unmatched. The guy has class too, I can't wait (as a fan, not an owner) until he goes to a new team next year and they pay him top dollar. With all bum's around the league cashing in (Javon Walker) it's only fair. The fact that he seems like such a stand-up guy pretty much assures me he won't be with Arizona next year considering he just out and out said something to the nature of "I feel betrayed, I'm just going to play football this is my last year with the Cardinals. I don't want a new contract from them anymore"

If I were Boldin I would use this as an opportunity to once again "leverage" the Cards for a "market rate" contract for a player of his caliber. Let Rosenhaus do his thing on the public stage. Imply quietly behind the scenes that while he escaped "harms way" with the hit, it did "knock some sense" into him. Absent a new deal, he may miss a few weeks just to "play it safe".

He's worth as much on the field play as Larry Fitzgerald. That play is real reminder that NFL life is short and the players need to get fairly paid and not be saddled with long term "under market" contracts. Not to mention the perspective (perhaps unfair) that the Cards are gunning the ball down field, hanging Quan out to dry with 30 seconds left to play down by 21 pts when smart NFL teams would be running Hightower off tackle and likely have their elite talent on the sidelines.

He'll play if medically cleared. However, to be medically cleared after being knocked out unconcious for any amount of time, a player is supposed to be symptom free for one week before being able to be involved in contact once again. But I've seen players get cleared earlier.

I believe the issue in question is whether he ever lost consciousness. I think that's why Whisenhunt didn't commit to saying that Q had been concussed. If he didn't go out completely then he can justify a return this week.
