Mon, Oct 20 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears WR Brandon Lloyd (knee) missed his third consecutive game Week 7, but he is hopeful to return Week 9.
Brandon Lloyd looks to be a good play for week 9. He will be coming off a bye to face Detroit at home. Orton is throwing well. On top of that, I see him still on waivers in 1 league. What was the extent of his knee injury? I know it's a bye week, but has he practiced at all since his injury?

Right. What happens to R. Davis and D. Hester too? Who will be the starters? Personally, I have never felt Brandon Lloyd was that good to begin with so I am not sure he steps back in to start--but if anyone has Chicago news that would help.

I'm not sure that's a done deal. I agree with you about his perceived skill level (I'm a Bay Area fan). However, I'm not convinced B.Lloyd lost his WR1 job.

I am also a bay area fan! Nuff said. Agree though--until we hear otherwise the assumption would be he will regain his spot, but I wouldn't want to rely on him.

Brandon Lloyd has been overrated from the get-go. He's really not that good, period. The only problem is... nobody on chicago WR corps proved that to the coaches. There really hasn't been a stand-out performance since Lloyd left, there has been plenty of depth performance (3 catches for 50 yards) but no real stand-outs. Becuase of the lack of productivity, Lloyd will get his chances again, it's up to him to see if he becomes part of the rotation or the rotation built around him.

Lloyd is just not very good.........I am a Skins fan and the guy did zero for us in 2 years

I realize no one is impressed with his receiving skills, but I still don't understand why he's not getting any attention on this board. He's at least worth a FF WR3 spot with good upside at that position. Chicago's passing game isn't the same...it's getting better. Orton is really throwing well (definitely should be a FF starter in most leagues).

Orton:

WK OPP RES CMP ATT PYD Y/A PTD INT RSH YD Y/R TD FPT

SEASON TOTAL 143 230 1669 7.3 10 4 11 38 3.5 0 129

With 8 of his 10 TD coming in the last 4 games.

When B.Lloyd returns in wk.9, I expect him to step right back into his starting role. Even with the returning-from-injury factor, he already has the extra bye week to rest. If you look at the first 4 weeks, he looks to get a good share of targets. In the first 3.5 games this year (before the injury), he did 15 rcpts for 249 yds and 1 td. Doing some math...(ouch) that's about 4 rcpt/71 yds per game. With Chicago's playcalling increasing in the passing game, I think that's worth a projection for week 9 at home vs. Detroit for around 6 rcpt/85 yds/1 TD. It is Detroit after all.
